View Full Version : Torres - Chelsea Bid/Transfer Request - ALL discussion+ Opinion in here
People have said that he is going because he wants to win trophies. Let me tell you something, there is no chance in hell if they were to win the title next season that it will feel as good as it would have had he won it with us. I have no doubt he will regret this decision one day.
Well im off to watch the Asian Cup Final... scouting Honda for LFC !! :scarf

Spot on mate ....
Nothing about this makes sense ...
So you only pick and choose which reports from the media you believe so it suits you? If the daily mail came out and said nando was on 200k a week at chelsea would you believe it without knowing EXACTLY what he was earning?
Id imagine most fans can see that at the moment the lure of chelsea in the CL is whats turning torres's head, not money.
wait a minute...is chelseas cup guaranteed...also they are 4th with 3 places confirmed...tottenham are breathing down their neck...we are improving only 7-8 points behind....seeing chelsea form i dont think they are going to finish above tottenham and liverpool.....then what ?.....
chelsea are NOT going to win cl ahead of manure, real and barca nor the epl....
PS:tell cashnando to atleast give out logical excuses....
I just hope nando stays myself though, i think we would have more of a chance of achieving something with him than without him.
Im hoping kenny can continue to wave that magic wand that roy had lost in his office :)
Agreed, but it'll never be the same.
I'm surprised, after all we've been through and things are finally looking up.

Ive posted this a couple of time im just trying to get different views on it!!
Ive been reading so many posts on the forums about Torres the last couple of
days and cant belive how quick we change our opinion, 2 days ago he was the best striker in the world he loves the club and he loves the fans he would never leave us ...arm band this arm band that... its all a smoke screen to get the Yanks to spend their money....... Torres and Suarez up front will be the best in the prem just wait and see.... everybody jumping up and down happy!
Then Bam !!
He hands in a Transfer request !!! let the lynching begin.
Cant believe he is doing this to us ...sell the **********.... Hes a load of S***** anyway only every had 1 good season out of him... I'm gonna burn his shirt tomorrow in front of the sky camera's,never again will i mention his name ....
He's dead to me ...just a money grabber,he never really loved liverpool anyway ... the list goes on and on and on but in between there are some people who still love him, but not as many who now hate him.
Nobody knows why he did what he did what reason he had for putting in a transfer request everybody is so quick to judge him! before you have heard his side of the story.
Remember Gerrard did the same thing a while back wanted to go to chelsea
and again he got hammered all over the forums ... But Gerrard realised were his heart was and knew he could never leave the club he has always loved
for any amount of money, and look at him now a better player than ever, and loved by everyone.
So maybe we need to give Nando a chance and hear what he has got to say
and why before we all hang him!!
Like alot of people have said there is more to it,all seems a bit wrong why now why not 2 weeks ago and most of all why chelsea of all the clubs Nando could go to, it does make me wonder could not get my head round it.
This is what went threw my mind lastnight as crazy as it sounds
Rafa could not sign any Liverpool players at milan he is now been sacked and no job....Torres now wants to leave and go to chelsea why ?? why not Barca,Real,Man City...... he could go to any of them but none of them are gonna change there managers anytime soon, then i thought chelsea maybe just maybe Ancelotti will get the sack as results have not been good and then they replace him with Rafa ...... the mind does crazy things to you sometimes but this is the only reason i could think he would want to go to them.
Maybe im just going mad! i have spent the last 3 days on here :FP:
The only thing i have left to say is if anybody can change Nandos mind it will be King Kenny, them im sure all will be ok.
My head is in Liverpool and on helping save our season. I am professional and I always fulfil my deals.
Nando said this on January 9th, so you can forgive some supporters for feeling a tad peeved.
I will still wait for the official word from either Torres or Liverpool before I fully decide how I feel. but at this present time I do feel a little sick in the stomach.

Maybe a blessing in disguise cos I do recall the last time our "Judas" striker jumped ship we won Big Ears ;)
You have no real idea of timings regarding Suarez or previe to the deal, every you say is based on your own speculation. Some deals take several months of negoiations while others can take days with alot of bluthing going on.
So can you confirm what promises were made to Torres and back it up. The only promises I am aware of (which is media speculation) was the middle of last August, when he was told there will be new owners and an improved team, both of which have happened and are happening.
As for the club going into bankruptcy/administration that wouldn't have happened for many reasons.
How can he back it up when he clearly can use media links judging by that comment? At the end of the day, everything we know now about torres transfer etc is down to the media but yet people on here are still believing it. the 50 mill clause is media, people believe it, we dont know anything for sure and johns opinion is just as valid as yours because we are all following, and at times believing the media.
Yeah agree... i can sort of understand why he wants to leave... if he handed a transfer request in the summer i would have no qualms but the timing of this is disgusting and why another PL club? I honestly believe (if Luis Suarez turns out to be a quality signing- fingers crossed) that we won't miss Torres. We can buy a few quality additions from his sale ONLY+ the owners kitty for Kenny ...we can change 90% of the team... Its not liek he has been setting the premiership on fire.we'll manage
we will manager. the way the club will be in the summer is ten times better than what it was last summer.
we have kenny, stable owners, who DO have the money to splash even if its a little late!;)
a good team to build upon as i said, the possiblity of bringing in another world class striker too. and with more real prospect of finishing in the top 4 next season.
until then, shut up torres and put on our red jersey, and score goals, thats what we bought him for, when he has done his job, he can leave. (unless like magic he dedicates his future and says sorry to the fans)
Maybe a blessing in disguise cos I do recall the last time our "Judas" striker jumped ship we won Big Ears ;)

Hopefully Torres commits himself till the end of the season, looking forward to the partnership with Torres and Suarez.

Guys did you hear, we signed Suarez?
Feel really sorry for Luis, this was meant to be his day yet it has been totally overshadowed by a team-mate who we was meant to be working with.
IF Torres leaves, i'm sure he will regret it walking out with that blue shirt on, plastic flags and fans, no Torres bounce, no YNWA, ageing team of merceneries, while the Liverpool faithful have a new hero to welcome into their hearts -
Luis Suarez.

Rooney was set to leave Manure then he agreed to stay after discussing his problem with bacon face.
Tevez was intent on leaving City then talking to Mancini kept him there and convinced him to stay.
Torres needs to confront Dalglish and express a valid point on why he wants to leave. then he could convince him to stay, we've almost bought Suarez to help him and the second we are set to sign he wants out...
guys i dont think suarez would be able to lead the line...we need a top striker like benzema who is good in air and quick...we should have a punt i think...or forlan because he and suarez can play upfront and he should come for about 12 mil....

Ha ha cheers, there will be life after torres but id rather have him here to help us achieve something. For the first time ina long time i feel the club is going somewere, the owners are doing / saying the right things, kennys in charge, suarez imminent. looking good, but then torres....sigh!:(
Very true. He should never forget that we are the ones who made him. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSdKmX2BH7o)
Lets hope El Sulko changes his mind. Either ways its not the end of the world. Is it???
We should never buy Spanish Internationals (Bar players like Reina). They are so very disloyal and greedy.

Pepe will do the same. I honestly believe that all the Spanish and foreign contingents don't give two ****s.
Alonso, Arbeloa first, then Riera cried foul, then Benitez, now Torres.
Reina soon to follow...
Yes because all Spanish people think the same and Benitez wanted out.

Yeah im surprised too, i can see were other fans are coming from with the "torres is disrespectful etc" but im not sure the request for a transfer was for him to actually jump ship, think theres a hidden agenda somewere.
maybe thats just me trying cheer meself up a bit!;)

no tevez is not a stable minded player and he seems to be unhappy in england...he could go to spain in summer...benzema +15-20 fo torres is a much stable deal and a good one....

I hadn't heard that.
It'd be interesting to know if Kenny is going to have "a word" with him when he comes back.
Any one that says he has a right to leave as we aren't challenging at the top is an utter idiot! A, he is a striker, and while he may have to work hard to get chances, he is still responsible when he misses some of the MANY chances he gets! B, he is under contract, he recently reiterated his love for the club and desire to stay! We all know contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on, but that is not the point! I don't want any one at our club that doesn't want to be there, but he should honour his contract, so i think he should be stuffed into the reserves until someone offers a realistic amount for him. Sulky little git, get rid!:scarf

I wouldnt let him leave in this window, we are struggling to turn around what has been an awful season until Kenny came in. Selling your top goalscorer to a rival a few day's before the window shuts doesnt make sense. Torres complained about a lack of ambition, the club answers by splashing out over £20 million on Suarez, and he still wants out? I think if he really had some feeling for the club and had his head screwed on he would have the decency to wait until the summer and gauge the clubs ambition by the signings we make then.
Chelski are good side but they are ageing, Ambramovich looks like he's set for one last sugar daddy spending splurge before the financial fair play rules come into effect.
If our club really does have ambition then we must aim to return to the champions league and compete for the league season in season out. If the owners are looking to do some serious spending in the summer with the aim of making that happen, then they are aiming for our club to be "really" competing with the likes of chelski and utd in coming seasons, so why weaken ourselves and strengthen one of those rivals? That wouldnt be a sign of ambition to me, it would be a sign of weakness.
Torres should be told he's going nowhere in this window, to forget about it & concentrate on his game. That he should wait until the summer transfer window to really gauge the ambitions of FSG & that if he still wanted to leave after that, ok he could go, but only at a price we found acceptable & only to a club outside the premiership.
In recent years i've gotten tired of the way Liverpool allows itself to be pushed around in the transfer market. Clubs like Real and Barca swan in and take some of our best players away for far less than they are worth, they unsettle them and eventually our club caves in to petulent players and allows them to leave for knock down prices. At the other end of the scale you have clubs whacking 5-10 million onto the price of average players just because Liverpool has come calling. The club needs to grow a pair and start taking a hardline no nonesense approach with clubs that try to push us around.
I said a while back that Torres left his boyhood club because he wanted to win things & that if that didnt happen at Liverpool, and he didnt see the club as ambitious then he would walk away from us too. FSG have only recently taken over the club though & it was always clear that the first real test of the clubs ambition & ability to compete for top players would come during the summer window. With Torres looking to move before the summer, before seeing the talent that FSG, Comolli, and maybe Kenny are looking to bring in, well it makes me question whether his motives for this move are soley based on the ambition to win trophy's.
Good post and totally agree.

torres out, hulk in.
I hadn't heard that.
It'd be interesting to know if Kenny is going to have "a word" with him when he comes back.
I am sure Torres will try to avoid that at all costs. Best case scenario for him will be he is holed up in Spain until a fee is agreed so he does not have to come back.
was numb when i realised it wasnt just paper talk. i could feel the blood drain out of my face as i read the email. i didnt cry, but i felt like it and i dont mind admitting it, even though that makes me sound like one of those stupid bitches who cry when a boyband breaks up.
having said that i cant be angry with him, been expecting it for a while now tbh. the club has been in a mire of depression this last couple of years, all the broken promises, the behind the scenes wrangling, the complete lack of success the manaerial merry go round and the whole ******* set up has been a joke. if he was playing for a lesser club hed have been off long ago, not that he's done much for us since he realised he'd been sold a lemon, but at least he didnt run his contract down, remember him trying to tap up his spanish team mates for a move to liverpool. He really did want this club to be succesful but he probably feels he sat around for long enough waiting for things to change, then something behind the scenes pushed him over the edge. I expect he insisted the club make up for lost ground in this transfer window, maybe just one signing wasnt enough to convince him and he decided to draw a line under it.
whatever he's thinking its a massive mistake to leave under these circumstances. when you leave you wont have the respect alonso gets, because he didnt drop us in the **** mid season, he didnt leave to join a lesser club, a rival team with no history. chelsea are not certain to qualify for the champions league, it would make more sense if they were still top of the table thumping all challengers but they look like they are in as bad a crisis as we were at the start of the season. You dont have to look too far for examples of what happens to judases in the game... owen is the obvious example, but in chelsea's own squad there are examples of players who thought the grass was greener and ended up regretting it... ask johnson. you better score a lot of goals because if you dont youll be getting splinters in your arse, and abuse from your new "fans". think all english fans are like the scousers? you'd be wrong... wait until youre listening to fat chavs screaming abuse at you for putting in the lazy performances youve been giving us lately. your life is about to change and you wont like it. but you wont understand what you've lost until you feel the emptiness of watching stevie and the lads win the title while your getting abuse from all corners because your no longer the golden boy, your a mercenary. thats how karma works, the universe will pay you same way it paid owen back.

A good player who did some great things for us, but he really ********** us in the arse this time
3 days before the window closes and he pulls a stunt like this??
We should take 50-60million for him and be done with it,
A winger and a striking partner for Suarez and were laughing, surely the 50 or so million would cover that alone
The fact he said on numerous occasions how he was a true red and would honor his contract is just laughable at this point, he is no diffrent from anyone else
Bye bye Torres, thanks for the memories, but **** off now, you will be forgotten about...

yes we have a better history, but chelsea are top 4. we havent been for nearly 2 seasons. we were a big club, history counts for nothing when you want to personally want to win trophies. torres simply has to believe he will win things here, but it doesnt look like that way, unless kenny can convince him.

I dont understand for the life of me why he wants to go to Chelsea. I wouldnt mind him going to a spanish club but not Chelsea.
There a bunch of OAPs, look at their performance today against Everton, there hardly an attractive club to play for. There are much bigger and better clubs in this league, Arsenal, City, United, even Spurs. Chelsea are on the down and if they dont make a big signing whos got years ahead of him there going to be in trouble as of next season. There Youth isnt exactly sparkling either.
They wont win anything this year and will probably scrape 4th ahead of spurs.

gerrard, carra & king kenny should talk to torres, maybe he come
If Liverpool sell Torres to Chelski there basicaly handing them 4th this year and in turn we're turning our back on it. I'll be very surpirsed if Suarez settles in straight away, so we will struggle for goals for a few games, we've got up a good run of speed at the moment so we need to keep it goin, sellin Torres to 1 of our biggest competeatiors would be sucidial to us, but i'm sure the LFC board know this..:FP:

Nope :) We will have El Pistolero firing shots at defenders!!!!!!!
I think its very sly the way he has done this!.......My concern is if we make him stay will he just be sulky and not that interested like he looked earlier in the season?
Would love to get about 45m for him then get Aguero (The guy chelsea really wanted!)
I really think he is making a stupid decision though....chelsea are old....within about 2 years alot of that team wont be there and they are already not looking so strong anymore! IMO they will never win the Champs league (atleast during Torres playing time) the way madrid and barca are dominating plus Citys future.
And it is clear to see that NESV are willing to spend big and bring class to the team so why leave now?!
P.S before anyone has a go i love Torres as much as anyone, but if a player wants to go its better off letting them in my opinion.

Just when there was light at the end of the tunnel. This.

Not worried about Nando been loyal to a club or contract, just hope he commits himself till the summer, want to see how new partnership goes, exciting times watching 2 world class forwards tormenting the opposition, football is a business players and owners have their own agendas, not saying that to be right in regards to breaking contracts, just enjoy Nando till the end of the season and then give him a good send off as he has served us well and at a time when crisis were all around Nando has been quality.I find that Liverpool fans are to comfortable in putting the boot in,rather sour and distasteful.

if this is how he wants it to end, then so be it. let his legacy end but he will not be remembered in the light he should and thats his descision. im not happy with the way he has handled things and i firmly believe after what he has done he should be sold immediately if not this window leave him in the reserves until summer. in my honest opinion, he has acted unprofessionally towards a club he supposedly "loves".
leaving it this late shows he does not believe half the things he says himself, i thought it was all crap until i read he handed in an official transfer request. thats what killed off my hope and affection for him. just one warning for him though if you do get sold fernando, you will one day regret it.

Gutted that he's handed in a transfer request but the least he could do is wait till summer.
Have Dalglish talk to him and tell him he is free to leave in the summer if he still wants to.
Hopefully this doesn't put him in the sulk and hopefully it actually makes him play better to prove to other intrested clubs how good he is.
Then cash in on him at the start of the summer for atleast £45million.

Who is that Mammoth?
If Torres has any respect for our club he would stay until the summer at least, to demand a move with 2 days left of the transfer window is bang out of order we have no time to replace him. if in the summer he still wants to go then sell him for £50million plus then we have time to replace him, no1 replacement would be to tempt athletico in selling Sergio Aguero we could get him for around £35-40million plus athletico dont have loads of money at the mo so they could be tempted to sell and he is only 22, Aguero & Suarez up front next season would be nice. also get Ashley Young we are crying out for a wide player at the mo.
It dont make any sense Torres has been saying he wants to see the club moving forward and up the table, King Kenny is turning our season round playing well & climbing the table, we then bring in a big player Luis Suarez to form a deadly partnership up front. The next min he drops a bombshell & wants to leave and join chelsea. If he does go we will have the last laugh Chelsea are an ageing side most of there players are 30 or over. Within two seasons I can see us fighting for major trophies again and chelsea going through a bad patch and slipping out of the top 4 it will be like roles reversed.
Also I think we will get quite far in the europa league this season semi's possibly the final.

And what made you think that?
He is a specialist striker. Although I agree that we need Benzema too. But our priority should be the left flank. If we get a winger, our job would be a lot easier. We should avoid the Spanish market though.
because english game is different from dutch...here we need people who can be hard and are good holders and headers of the balll...take any top team....they have a good ball holding player...even arsenal realised this and got chamakh and look at them now...they were never able to be good with small men like eduardo and vela leading the line...we need a strong frontman....

I heard from a friend of mine in the sporting media (He writes for Marca) about 2 hours ago that he has had a big falling out with Carra. The reason for the falling out is unknown.
His LFC inside source also explained that the get out clause is in the summer if we don't qualify for CL. There's no such clause about the 50mil apparently.
He went on to tell me he was told that the whole situation is being totally hyped up by the media and that the ball is in our court so to speak. So if LFC say he's not for sale, then he's not for sale and no ground has been covered regarding a sale, apart from the offers coming in from Stamford Bridge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
He's normally rock solid when he gets this sort of info....I hope he's right again on this one.

if he comes out and says his agent put in the transfer request behind his back of course he will be forgiven because hes done nothing wrong, if he comes out and says he had genuinely unselfish concerns about the clubs future i will believe it and forgive him because we've all been having those concerns and our careers/personal lives arent tied up in it all. I will forgive him if he sees out this season and gives us his best. The only way i will not forgive him is if he forces this move through, and if that happens i will be wanting to know who sanctioned the sale of our star striker to a rival in this crucial season. If nesv think all the fans anger will be directed at torres they will be wrong. summer is a new start but they cannot let him go now, and definitely not to them!

I just used the Rooney example as somebody who put in a transfer request recently and went back on it. I know Torres isn't as greedy as Rooney and as the first poster said he would prefer trophies.
I just hate people calling him this and that on these boards and then if he were to stay and continue to score goals again in a while they'd be singing his praises and act like they never did anything of the sort

He's normally rock solid when he gets this sort of info....I hope he's right again on this one.

And how much respect is that?
I understand what you mean. So you would still harbour resentment towards him and stand by your comments? By the way I don't actually know if you have slated him, I'm not accusing you but I'm just saying had you done that this is how you would feel?
That should be judged on an individual level. Fans should think about the circumstances and be as objective as possible.

Friend suggesting Stevie G & King Kenny spent last night talking to Torres, he's 60-40 in favour of staying and signing new deal.

Nope.
Never forgiven Steven Gerrard.
Never will forgive Fernando Torres.
Stevie Me puts himself (many times) before the club.
Torres has done the same.
Stevie Me has decided to stay.
Torres will probably leave.

sorry to say it why have a falling out with Carra THE LAD IS RED THROUGH AND THROUGH but i think carra is a spent force now hes way off the pace of the game and makes to many mistakes keep him with the club yes but in a caoching role in the academy for me the future lies with agger skirtle and the new lad danny wilson.

its funny isnt it. knowing a BIG offer from barca could tempt him...........
Should Torres decide to stay like Rooney did, how will all those who are slating him on here react? Will they continue to call him a money grabbing whatever or will they act like they never said anything?
Rooney isn't getting a lot of joy from the scum supporters (rightly so) and Torres will never be seen in the same light again. Unfortunate that it had to come to this..If only he had said next summer that he wanted to move, we probably would have let him get his move abroad and cashed in.
Handing in a transfer request to move to the chavs, he's never going to be forgiven for that. I'm not going to abuse him ever, but he's lost his place in the pantheon of LFC legends who pulled on the red shirt just because of what he did, even if he stayed on and goes on to break every single club record.

I thought you where different though Nando!
It's a shame because he was all set to go down in Liverpool folklore. Look at the affection we all had for him. He was going to be one of the biggest legends in the history of the club. Even if at the age of 32 or so he moved (probably back to Atletico) we wouldn't begrudge him for all the years of service.
He was a legend but after this, even if he stays, it just won't be the same and he'll be remembered as just a fine player we once had.

I don't care what his reasons are. Two weeks ago he said he'd see out his contract and that toi me indicated he'd at least stay till summer, then he could have gone wherever the hell he wanted.
He's judging us on Hodgson Hicks and Gillette and THEIR broken promises and if he can't commit to us at least until the summer then why bother staying in the first place?
If we sell him then in the Europa League the only strikers at the club that will be eligible to play are N'Gog and Kuyt!!
That is the very definition of screwing your own club over. And for what?? Plastic flags and playing benchwarmer to a striker who is twice the player than you?? :IN:

No, they don't have the same agent.
he had one with arbeloa just before he left
thats coz the league was lost and they were trying to win Pepe the golden glove and he lost it with arbeloa when he didnt track back and block a shot on goal.
I wonder how much of a good or bad influence Carra is on the squad though??
i will refrain from comment until i hear Fernando's reasons.
if its to do with Carra, thats unfortunate coz Carra's done to be honest and holds too much power at the club but if its a lack of investment move then i think now, now, its premature and he should hold out until halfway through next summer to see what moves we have made in the summer transfer window and then decide..

One other rumour, and this sounds interesting.
Dalglish and Gerrard have talked him round.
On FB and Twiitter which are not the most reliable although a lot of the transfer request rumours yesterday came up on twitter a good few hours before it was announced.
http://twitter.com/#!/Vredesbyrd
BREAKING NEWS there will be some big news regarding Fernando Torres coming from both #LFC and #CFC at around 7pm or 8pm GMT!
The timing is all wrong. Why would he try and unsettle the club in the last 3 days of the transfer window by putting in a transfer request. Since Kenny joined he has looked like a completely different player. Chelsea are the scum that caused all this.
The bid was a shocking bid £35/40m GTFO. Regardless of form he is worth much more than that. Had they not put a bid in none of this would have even happened.
I and most Liverpool fans have known/had a feeling for some time that he would leave but we we always thought that it would be during the Summer transfer window and not 3 days from the end of the January window.
On a side note why are we even listening to a £40million offer in the first place, isn't the January transfer window usually full of inflated prices. Liverpool should not look at any offer below £60million CASH especially at this time in the windows. Sell him in the summer to the highest bidder if he still wants to go by then.
I have lost all respect for him as a person and i hope that at some point he realizes that he will never have anything close to Support/Love the fans have shown him while he has been here at any other club in the world.

LFC is and will forever remain a Special club.
One other rumour, and this sounds interesting.
Dalglish and Gerrard have talked him round.
On FB and Twiitter which are not the most reliable although a lot of the transfer request rumours yesterday came up on twitter a good few hours before it was announced.
A lot of people saying that Torres will remove the transfer request and possibly sign a new contract, and that Kenny and Gerrard talked him round.
None of them from any reputable journalists yet, though :(
Considering Carragher hasnt been playing or training (much) for the last two months, I find highly unlikely he's got anything to do with it.
^^this
Intimidation or the burden of our Clubs expectation?? Misunderstood feelings from a great player who is struggling for form and has been for a fair few months on and off? Oh and dont **** Jamie lar!

isnt his agent also suarez's agent? he probably got all giddy with his cut from the suarez fee but stil had a few bills to pay so he **** stirred nando into demanding a 50 million pound transfer, coz he knows it may be the last time he gets it! coz once you've been bitten by the liverpool bug, you're sick for life.:scarf
no mate the whole same agent thing is ********, torres agent is Jose Antonio Martin and suarez's is the barcas coach older brother

He's staying.
Why do people just say that, give us a dam source!!!
and what exactly is this an analysis of? just regurgitated the rest of the bull weve been reading in the last couple of days. sorry, mate not your fault just saying. we wont know anything before end of tomorrow or monday morning.
Just an analysis which I thought was interesting, considering there is very little to read on the subject since the transfer request last night. ;)
If chelsea can pay 60mil..i would sell....PLEASE SELL!!!!!
Hes good...but overated.
With that money,we could streghten the squad with 3-4 quality quality players and can afford to sell off cheaply guys like konchensky and poulsen
