Ok i've commented on a couple of other posts about Dirk and now thought he deserved my full attention.
Not just because of his HAT TRICK against the scum but as an overall observation of the man him self i think we could be about to see the best of a player who's natural game has so often been sacrificed for the sake of the team and also for the sake of Torres.
If given a good run of games next season (big if) then i feel we could see his best return of goals. Before you say that it is an obvious statement as he will be playing further forward, the man himself looks to have the confidence to back his game up and sniff out opportunities like we havent seen since he came here. He hasn't always been deployed on the wing.
He along with Alonso, when here, seem to understand the fans and want to win for the shirt with almost equal passion to Stevie and Carra, which is unusual in foriegn players (see Masch and Torres). I think Kenny has spotted this and will look to Kuyt to become a leader on the pitch.
He, in my opinion, has the same thing that Lineker had and that is instinct and bravery and that is an invaluable asset to have in any team. Im sure people will say he has a poor first touch and cant pass but to be fair that shouldn't be his job, his job like Lineker's and Rush's should be finishing moves not starting them, his first touch should be with a toe, a knee, an ear whatever it takes as it should be the touch that makes the net ruffle!
I have posted a link to his Feyenoord days and if he can hit that kind of form for us then i dont see that we need to look for a new striker in the summer. Have a look, discuss and comment my fellow reds

soon as he got dropped he lost his confidence, nearly 32 time to move on though a good player during the years
If given games next season? can't be lookin that far ahead if kenny isn't pickin him now much.. I reckon he is on way out as we get average age down.. Not puttin him down top man but anything like suggested 7-10 mill jan would be too good to turn down at 31.. Looking to future..

In the absence of Suarez I would have him as the lone striker.

Post was from last season hence the Epic fail comment...
That being said i think 5m+ would be good business for him...

Aah didn spot that yeah was looking good last season so can understand your point
Mate, he's been absolutely awful this year. Yeah fair enough, he runs and works hard and has a determined look on his face.. great. But, sometimes you need more than that, you need quality. He can't unlock a defence, beat a man, outpace a centre back, create for himself and seems to lack confidence in front of goal. How you came to the conclusion that he may turn in to some quite prolific goalscorer because he plays up front is confusing as he lacks so many necessary characteristics needed for a really good PL striker these days.
Love Dirk, absolutely great guy with what he has done for this club and respect him until the end of time, but NOW, we need to progress and move on in my opinion. Mind you, hope he bags hat trick today and shuts me up! :scarf

Check date on the post mate was last season... I also commented that the post was a fail.....
Great bloke, like him a lot, lots of respect for him as he does understand our club BUT not good enough.
The acid test is would any of our competitors play him? No. I doubt he would be in any of their squads. If we get an offer let him go and bring in a young striker from the lower leagues as cover.
You jinxed it.
What a miss. :FP:

Not kneejerker reaction but his performances have just not been good enough, far from it.
If we get a good offer for him I believe we should take it..

was he
ok he missed the chance but other than that he was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
better uptop than carroll...look the way he helad the ball upfront to bring in the midfielders into play AGAINST A STOKE SIDE FILLED WITH BIG STRONG DEFENDERS !!!!.....carroll needs to sit down and watch the way dirk held the ball today and also his movement.....andy carroll as usual spent most of his time on the floor and blocking the shots of our players...he is unbeleivably lazy and doesnt even bother to get out of the shots way...he blocked about 2-3 goal bound shots today.....kuyt needs to be played uptop form now on than carroll as he knows how to control and keep the ball and doesnt spend his time on the floor .....

Do you know why we are not a force in PL any more?:(
Because we put emotion before anything.:( we can't see the Carra,Dirk is not liverpool standard player anymore. but we will still persist with them.
What a boring game!!! :FP: to Kenny for 5 man defence & 5 man midfield.
He's not a lone striker, he showed glimpses of his quality when partnering Suarez but he really should not be starting for Liverpool. He has no pace, creativity or end product especially not this season. We really need some pace in our attack and someone who can put the ball in the net. It's all well and good saying we are unbeaten at home but I'm sure no-one is happy with the 7 draws as appose to the 4 wins. This team today didn't look confident and from the start there was no attacking mentality, it confused me having 5 defensive players albeit 2 full backs, against a team who created 3 chances all game. We should of played Carroll from the start and instead of taking off the service (Downing) in place of him, put as many attacking players on as possible.

As big a legend as he is, I think his race is run.
And I hate saying that.

dont you think he did better than carroll uptop today?....imo he brought in the midfielders very well....

I cannot wait to get rid of him, absolute waste of space this season, there comes a time when every player has to move on and this is his time! He was awful against Wigan a couple of weeks ago, and missed a couple of golden chances today. He's cost us a few points this season. If we could get £5m for him I would take it right away, we need somebody with flair and pace and who can score a few goals.

All he did was pass the ball back into midfield everytime he got it.
I'm hoping somebody puts their hand in their pocket and takes him off us to be honest.

He was off the pace, and the majority of the time the ball went up to him it came straight back out.
Let's hope Galatasary haven't seen that match and still want him.

atleast he kept the ball mate .....carroll hardly stays on his feet and if he does he hardly even keeps the ball....we need a claas ST now !!!!...

6 years and not one bit of silverware for Kuyt.
Running your socks off with little basic ball skills makes you a legend at this club though.
Sure he scored a couple against United. What a legend!

lol, agree, needs to move on.
Should've won it for us today.

Carroll is only learning though...Kuyt has been garbage at liverpool for years bar one or two great games.
Dirk's skill level is on the decline. There is no doubt about that.
I think people jumping on Dirk's back after today are a bit ridiculous. He's been bad all season but today he had one chance all game and missed it. It was a good chance but still, you cannot create one genuine chance all game and expect a win. It doesn't work like that.
I think Henderson, Downing, and Adam should be very disappointed today. All three were down right awful. They were out of position the whole game and couldn't create a chance or an opportunity. Enrique and Johnson were also bad. They were supposed to be the wing backs yet rarely provided width.
In the end, this was all fairly predictable. We sold Meireles and Aquilani, two players who would have been able to crack open a defense and instead decided to get cheap replacements for them. It hasn't worked out. It was flat out stupid.

Hat-trick against United is nothing though is it? Or the 4 separate games he's scored against Everton, who cares? Them goals against Chelsea, bah who was counting them? Those vital goals against Inter and Arsenal in the Champions League, yeah nothing goals them?
You're dead right. How dare I call him a legend.

-carroll is very average...
-kuyt hasnt been garbage every year,he has got some very crucial goals over the years and has been very good under rafa....this year he has struggled though but kept the ball better than carroll today.....

Ah thats the modern day Liverpool fan I know to well nowadays...
As long as we stick to our rivals a few times every few seasons we are happy and can gloat for a little bit...
Shocking how standards drop at a club.

Cool.
Rule 1 for when someone disagrees with your point. - Don't argue it, and explain your alternative view. Just remark on the other person's 'modern fan' outlook. For bonus points, use the word 'standards' to denote that you've seen it all in your time as a fan.
Well done you.

Why is when Carroll doesn't score it's the service but when Kuyt doesn't score it's because he's no good?

Some people are just afraid of the truth. Carroll is not going to make it at Liverpool.

he was getting played as a lone striker, at a place where we've struggled for goals - it was a recipe for disaster but in fairness we didn't look much better with carroll and bellamy
Hard working player but his limitations are laid bare when the tide of quality comes down to his level. Gets away with it when other do the bizzo.
Limited player

This.
Neuter are old enough to lead the line.
Realistically I think someone like Moussa Sow would be great for us.
We cannot persist with those 2 clowns for any longer
should've been sold 3 years ago or left when Rafa left.
We know that Rafa kept him because he used to bring him lunch, Roy was just inept, but why Kenny, why do you still play Kuyt?

Kuyt has been one of our most important players for the last 5 years. This season he plays in all different positions and never plays back to back games, he looks like he has no confidence in himself.
