View Full Version : Mods - why can't we have a different thread for a different aspect of the match?

Am I the only one who finds it frustrating to have everything lumped into one big thread???

It is frustrating. I have given up looking on that ONE huge thread now.

I guess with the volume of rubbish being posted tho, its easier for the mods to sweep it into one thread.

it embarasing to call this the "official" forum sometimes. that merge thred is just stupid and impossbale to follow. some of these mods are complete monkeys and havnt a clue what their doing. merging different subjects is ridiculus, actually this thred will probally be merged!

The forum does a look a bit messy atm. half the threads are blanked out and merged.

I doubt it, but it will probably be moved to website feedback where it should have been posted.. :IN:

It is stupid - I just started a thread about our formation misconceptions. That has now been merged and will be completely ignored.

Mass merging is wrong. It will be hilarious if the mods merge this thread.

It was obviously gonna happen. :P The topic itself is feedback to the mods.

But surely if someone starts a thread say about a particular player, that should be kept separate??? It may start about the game, but soon moves on to a wider discussion.

Instead, we get a jumbled up four page mess!

Usually on match days thread moderation is turned on.

It is done so that, many different threads on the same topic (ie the match) aren't started that inevitably only last for about 10 or 15 replies before getting pushed down the page by yet more new threads about; you've guessed it... the match.

It is also generally worse after a bad result like today.

When thread mod is turned on, most of those threads don't even get approved. It encourages people to post in an existing thread. Those of which are reasonable posts may get approved but they get merged into an exisiting thread.

Some threads that got started are on a different discussion aspect but are match related for example yours about hamstring injuries, or the one about Reina. But when a new thread appears once every two or three minutes about 'stop moaning' or 'we are still not good enough' or 'the referee was terrible' these are merely fallout reaction posts from the match and get merged.

Admittedly I probably went a bit over enthusiastic on the merge there and the redirects look a bit untidy, but the purpose remains the same. Post your thoughts in an existing thread if one is already there.

There are already countless threads on our players. So surely one of those could also be used.

Listen, I understand where you are coming from, but from experience the forums are a nightmare to moderate after a result like today. A merge thread like the one I created makes it easier to move the inevitable reaction posts into.

You need a middle ground. There are literally hundreds of posters starting threads about the match and the mods try to keep the flow down so the servers don't get mental, but yeah, they may have over reacted this week and gone from one extreme (too many threads about random stuff i.e. - did you notice how blah blah was playing here and kept doing blah blah? and "we can play any formation and still be ****" to just one thread that is neigh on impossible to follow filled with lost OP's that may or may not have improved the quality of the first page posts open for debate.

It's a thankless task being a mod, glad I aint one. :D

But how far back do you expect us to go to find an appropriate thread?

I obviously take on board what you say, I just think it makes the boards look untidy and not user friendly.

Not far back at all.
In fact a the use of the search function usually throws up an existing thread fairly quickly.

On pages 2 and 3 (which only contain threads last posted in from today and yesterday) there are threads on Lucas (both positive and negative), Shelvey, Kelly, Gerrard, Reina, poor referees (though in fairness this is an old thread bumped from 2 years ago), Dalglish and our progress, Dalglish on Hodgson, Hodgdon on Dalglish, etc...

The front page looks a bit messy as the merged threads have a redirect visible. These will expire in under an hour leaving a bit tidier.

Apologies to all for neglecting to set thread moderation today. It's a lot easier with that enabled to allow the good threads and merge the ones that don't contribute.

Bring back thread moderation I say?FD is a much better place after a match then!

Where is the search function?

Where is the search function?

At the top of the page on the black bar to the right you will see 'search'.
With this you can search for either posts or threads with a particular word/phrase in them on any forum or you can search for the posts/threads of a particular user.

Alternatively, on the forum bar itself (in green) you will see to the right of that a button called 'search this forum' click on that and you can type in a keyword and it will return all threads with that keyword in it, either in the title or the posts within the one forum.

Honestly, I think its fine the way it is, or we'll end up with about 3 pages of threads analysing every detail of the match.
