:FP: Why loan aquilani again?? Weve loaned him out the last 2 seasons to 2 top teams during the peak years of his career. Loans should only be for younger players looking to gain first team experience. We should of only accepted a full-term deal or nothing. It'll be the same story all over again next year. Will he or wont he go..? sickening...

We should have just sold him. It's clear he doesn't want to play for us in England and his game seems to be suited to European style football. Also, Meireles is a better player for us, so keeping Aqua would have been pointless.

He'll have been sent on loan to lower the wage bill.

It's a daft decision in my view. He clearly wants to go home but if nobody was prepared to buy him he should have stayed.

It's disgusting really, Aquilani is worth £10m at least, we ought to be harder over transfers really as I reckon we've let players go for way less than they could've gone for (Rafa was always good at making a decent return when selling players but that was one of his best attributes to be fair).

Regardless of whether you agree, the club does not want him and he wants to return to Italy. IF AC were confident about him they would pay a decent upfront fee. Clearly they are not. They are only prepared to pay a very modest fee and even then only after trying him out for the best part of a season. No other club is interested.

Aqua doesnt want to be here, if nobody wants to but him then loan is the obvious decision,
if they are willing to let him go then he isnt going to play alot of games, so his wage will help to fund transfers of players in other areas we need to strengthen such as CB and back up striker,

from what ive seen in pre season and glimpses over the last couple of years he looks a decent player-but there has to be question marks as to why no club in the world would take him perminantly?

good luck to him at AC Milan- but i dont think we will see him at anfield again,

I agree with the post, and from us fans' perspective it doesn't seem to make much sense. I think the rationale for this has come from a purely business sense accounting perspective. Playing assets get depreciated on the balance sheet and wages of course need to be paid. I think it has been pretty much decided that he won't play for us again, and so I think the decision is a break even one. We won't have had to pay his wages for two seasons, he will garner a fee next year (for probably his 'book' value) and the actual loss will be mitigated. Sound business if not a roaring transfer profit success. The club is being well run with clear management and no knee-jerk panic tosspot behaviour.

We should never have bought him! Don't get me wrong he's a good player, but he was meant to be a replacement for Xabi but he's a completely different type of player...plus we paid 18 million for a player who played 102 games for Roma (in all competitions) in 7 years...averaging 14 games in a season...do we even know if Milan are paying all of his wages?? I think next summer we need to accept a £7million offer and get this nightmare over!!

agreed, we basically bought a 20 million pound player and the let him play 15 meaningless matches for us to let him prove himself... and then what do we do... loan him out for the rest of his ****** contract... what's the point.... if nobody will stump up the cash we should keep him in the squad... end of...what happeens if we have another cm injury crisis like last season... i'd prefer have alberto in their than poulsen....:FP:
