I don't understand why this guy gets so much attention. Who cares what he thinks?

Chelsea's patience is beginning to wear thin and rightly so.

Well he bought himself some time with the two goals he recently created against Leverkusen

This article is really good. I was as angry and disappointed as anyone at Torres's departure, and I wish he had written a letter to the fans in the same way Garcia did, but I do feel a bit sorry for him now and I also think he may be regretting his decision.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/sep/16/fernando-torres-goal-drought

It's a bit too long to copy and paste the lot, but it talks about his injury problems - and other articles I have read suggest that maybe LFC and the Spanish national team need to take some responsibility for playing him too much when he wasn't fit enough. But one part of the article which stood out for me was this:

"Behind the imposing 6ft stature, the tattoos and the trendy, carefully coloured hair, Torres is far from an Identikit footballer. Described as surprisingly timid and sensitive off the field, he enjoys a homely life with his wife Olalla – they have been together since their mid-teens – and two young children.

Tellingly, the boy known for walking his dogs in public parks and displaying an almost anorakish enthusiasm for researching Liverpool's history is described as being as on a "very different" off-field wavelength to figures such as Ashley Cole, John Terry and Didier Drogba."

I loved this guy while he was here. But he lost his touches long time ago. Players move but the way he left was disgraceful. I am still not sure if Andy Caroll is the right guy. If given time we could have spent that (50 mils) money more wisely on finding a perfect partner for Suarez. I don't know if Andy was a knee jerk reaction. I blame Torres for this situation as he gave us very little options.

He left for Chelsea as he did not see a future here. So I would let him have his future :D. We do not need him now. We need players who work tirelessly for the team creating their own chances and scoring when presented one. He is not doing either ......

How about Free Transfer ? :)

For some reason I find it really hard to hate or even dislike this man.

I guess it's because the 50M£ we got was one of the best sales in the history of football. And when he went to Chelsea, I was afraid that he'd be the dynamic old Torres but it seems that he's still sulking on the pitch. It goes to show that he didn't really have any problems with playing for Liverpool, he was just bad and his head was probably not in the right place.

I've noticed many people asking if they'd had Torres and they've suggested a fee of 20M£ or something close to that but how is an injury prone 27 yo striker who's scored 1 goal in 18 last games worth that kind of money? I guess Franco Di Santo is worth about 70-80M£ because he's only 22, not injury prone and has got a mind-blowing 4 goals in his last 18 prem games. I would have him back but he'd have to accept being a squad player and the transfer fee shouldn't be even 10M£.

surprised at the amount of people that would want him back in the hope that he would create a partnership with luis.

his pace is gone and he clearly has some kind of mental block, it seems to have only gotten worse since joining chealsea too.

he looks just as miserable as ever.

My first post says Torres is still a threat and his pace will return, the reason he sucks at Chelsea is because he is not used to all that pass in the box, back and forth, side ways nonsense. We passed it in mid-field the shot it forward to Fern, then from there he ran like a bat out of hell and did his master finisher thing. How long did you think he was going to stay with out Benitez and a little more help up top.

As far as taking him back everybody knows they would take him back in heart beat and act all mucho when inside its all giddyness. Torres fits our style of play perfectly and Carroll just doesn't have the agility that Torres has nor the finishing. Say what you will people Torres is a Liverpool prodigal son and we want him home with a whipping waiting.

I'd be lying if I said I don't miss Torres terribly, I'd take him back at the club. But I wouldn't mind an apology off him, and a promise that he'd behave himself in future.

It still pains me to see him playing for Chelsea. :(

Well Im not the one following my extraordinary allegations with insults when I know nothing about what happened that night.

For all we know Torres was forced to hand in a transfer request and to lie about wanting to play for Chelsea all because our owners thought '£50m?! Give, now.'

Its just plain obnoxious to assume it was all about Torres. The people that continually abuse his name yet know nothing about what he still feels for the club, or why he wanted to leave, well, it just baffles me. After everything he did for us. Hes a human being, after all.

tricky95
21-9-11, 17:22
Now im not saying would you instantly forgive him and start loving him again, if he returned, just do you think you could at some point forgive him? Its just it's come to my attention that i get the sense off these websites that at first we hated him and thought it was hilarious how bad he was at Chelsea, yet now i feel like some people, i wouldn't say feel sorry for him, but wouldn't mind seeing him back here and ending his nightmare. So yes or no, could you forgive him? (poll if possible, dunno how you get one tho :P)

Personally im starting to think that ain't a mad idea, as torres is crap for chelsea and lets be honest so far caroll has been crap for us... so i'd be happy, maybe give it tiny bit longer as we should make sure he has a fair chance first. Personally I thought he would go six months before he did but he was talked out of it by empty promises of new rich owners and an immediate change for Liverpool.

There is nothing to forgive, he simply went to another team to have a better chance of winning trophies. The same as Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Enrique or Adam have done by leaving their respective clubs to come to Liverpool. They have upgraded to a club in a better current position then their old one, the same as Torres did.

If Liverpool do not qualify for the Champions League this year that will mean that Fernando Torres will have played three more years (assuming Chelsea qualify) in the Champions League then if he had stayed at Liverpool.

I hope that Liverpool qualify for the Champions League but if Liverpool do not qualify then his reason for leaving is already justified.

No, never - not because of the way he left us but after what he said after he jumped ship. One has to pay for his action/words, & when those words came out of his mouth he knew he's burning the bridge.

I thought Torres looked quite good in his last two matches and his goal and movement against Man United at Old Trafford was excellent. He already is playing well, just needs more goals and someone like Juan Mata is perfect for supplying him with the needed through balls.

For him to come back, I would stipulate the following as a necessity:

We don't sell Carroll - we buy Torres back from Chelsea a low price, and to part fund this, we get rid of any other deadwood.

Torres', at the point of purchase (rather than 'point of sale'.... :FP: yeah, crap joke) would have to be performing well, scoring goals and have his pace and sharpness back.

He would need write a letter of apology to the club, and then, just after re-joining us, he would do a quick video message on LFC TV to apologise to all of us for being such a silly billy.

These three things in place - yes, I would like him back!

Yes. I would.

I never really hated him, to be honest. I was furious at how he left and the things he said, but deep down I was just really HURT. I worshipped this guy, all my shirts had his name emblazoned on the back.

Most Liverpool supporters attack him now, and laugh at his misfortune. I can't blame them, we all dealt with his betrayal in different ways. I personally do think it's funny that he's struggling with Chelsea (or at least, WAS struggling, unfortunately it looks like he may get back to form soon, I do hope I'm wrong) and I love how long he went without a goal, because to be honest the only shirt I ever wanted to see him wearing was ours. But if he wasn't with us, I at least wanted to be spared having to see him playing for a hated Prem rival. :(

I'd take him back. A lot of fans on here would, they just wouldn't admit it on here. Cos we ALL loved him, every single one of us, but that's difficult to talk about after he's behaved the way he has.

Don't get me wrong, I'll never forget what he did, but I suppose I COULD forgive, providing he gave the fans a very sincere public apology, admitted he was wrong, and gave nothing but 110% every game he played for us after that.

(poll if possible, dunno how you get one tho :P)

why are you still thinking about him?

Wont forgive him. I dont think anyone who witnessed the whole transfer saga and the way he conducted himself and left us will forgive him.

Yes there are things to FORGIVE.

1) The manner of his departure - his handing in the transfer request at the last moment.

2) His on and off the pitch commitment towards his club.

3) His complete disregard for the fans and club. Is this is what he had to show and give after all these years of love.

4) He put in a transfer request to join Chelsea. They are our rivals.

Henderson, Adam, Enrique and Downing have all come here in a different way. Yes they have upgraded, but they dint do what Torres did. They dint leave mid way to join a rival team. They came here with the same dignity and respect from everyone as they had when joining their previous teams. Sure no one is happy to let go of good players, but they dont feel what we do for torres.

Torres Transfer will never be justified. He will fail as he has till now. Liverpool will qualify for champions league and will finish above Chelsea. We will do the double over them again. He will be elbowed again on his face.

I dont want torres to go on loan or get transferred. I want him to stay put and see what he has missed. Once we win the league and the champions league, i want to look at his face in the same blue uniform that he left us for.

Dont want the Ladyboy back and never will. And will never forgive him. The are ways to conduct yourself when you want a move. Think Cesc Fabragas. He wanted to move and left with dignity. And he had a lot more vaild reasons. Think Xabi Alonso. Ok I know he felt hurt by the Barry saga and could probably have stayed if he wanted to but he still left. But left with total respect and dignity still intact. And would be welcome back anyday.

Then the is Torres and Owen. Owen is nothing but a little snobby spoilt brat who when his career ends will have nowhere to go to watch a game where he will be truely welcome. Real probably dont even remember him, Newcastle dont give a ****, and Manure dont really care for him.

Torres might have Athletico Madrid to go back to but he will never be welcome here.

Torres has made his bed and will have to lie in it. I too hope he doesnt go out on loan because I want him to be as close as possible when everything clicks into place and we surge up the League.

No, I am sure it isn't just you. ;)

Public apology, grovelling to the fans, admitting he was stupid, banging them in again.

In those cases, I'd happily have him back.

Hardly. They're situated in London and they finish a good few places higher than us most seasons. We're battling for 4th place (if that) and they're trying to win the title. They're as much our rivals as West Brom are.

Personally im starting to think that ain't a mad idea, as torres is crap for chelsea and lets be honest so far caroll has been crap for us... so i'd be happy, maybe give it tiny bit longer as we should make sure he has a fair chance first. However, i cant see avb wanting to ddo it as he wants to play nice football thats the main reason why he starts the like of Torres atm so that might scuper things

yet i got negged 3times ....

The way he plays for us, was amazing and to be honest, i'd prefer him at liverpool than at chelsea, now that we have more decent players to put the ball up front, (Suarez, Downing, Gerrard, Adam) and get his form back on top, he is a great player, but at Chelsea, he can't get his style adjusted to them so its rather difficult for him at the moment, so really, when it comes to football skill, i'd love to take him back, but for one thing i will want him to do, is to come out and publicly apologize for making Liverpool look like a shamble :/

That miss against the scum was shocking! Chelsea playing some good football, I think it would be wrong to write them off just yet. A 3 horse race perhaps?

Think it will be a 3-horse race, yes. Sadly we are not ready for a title push.

Good manager at Chelsea will see them steadily improve this season.

Hopefully we will also improve and cement 4th, but Spurs look handy.

The is nothing to miss with Torres anymore. He isnt the same player that Gerrard hands the ball to. He is still a quality player but not what he used to be. Not fit to lace Suarez's boots imo.

Do miss Gerrard when he's out. Cant wait till Kenny unleashes him from the start, and we get to see Gerrard and Suarez play together properly.

Andy firing on all cylinders, gerrard fully fit and suarez on form ..... I think thats an unstopable trio given the squad we have. We'll never have a chance to miss F. Torrescariot.
