EURO 2012 GROUP STAGE SECOND ROUND UPDATE
Bolded scores are your overall scores. Numbers in brackets are your penalty points tally.
Group A
1) Reddazz
5 (48)
2) MrsJelly5id
4 (102)
3) LightningLucas
3 (57)
4) Arwales
3 (66)
5) LivingProof
2 (55)
6) Madforit1
0 (180)
Following a disappointing first round in Group A, a lot of the players hit back with some higher scores. In particular, MrsJelly5id more than made up for missing the first round by posting a superb tally of 4 points,nd this was enough to propel her into 2nd place. She is still, however, 1 point adrift of GG regular Reddazz, who had a decent round himself to maintain his position at the top. LightningLucas, Arwales and LivingProof all scored 2 points each, meaning there was little other movement in Group A.
Group B
1) Boston-Sox
4 (56)
2) SirStiffler
3 (48)
3) Dynamite7
3 (62)
4) Livlad
3 (94)
5) Shmar
1 (57)
6) WineForMyMen
0 (132)
Without doubt, the performer of the round in Group B was SirStiffler, who recovered superbly from a blank in the first round, to post a 3 point round in the second! Like MrsJelly5id, it wasn't enough to put him top but he is now in a much better position than he was a few days ago. Boston-Sox stays out in front, but he is now under immense pressure, with Dynamite and Livlad level with SirStiffler in 2nd. Livlad, like SirStiffler, had an excellent round, giving the former Euro winner a great chance of progressing. Shmar is lagging behind slightly and needs an excellent final two rounds if he is to have any chance of surging to the top of the league.
Group C
1) MrJacky
4 (60)
2) PeoriaRed
3 (48)
3) ScousePower
3 (92)
4) BabyBear
0 (68)
5) TheVikingMushroom
0 (143)
6) IEatAABatteries
0 (180)
MrJacky and PeoriaRed continue to lead the rest of the pack, but there were signs this round that the pressure may be getting too much. With other players within the game scoring 2 or 3 points, these two players could only muster a point each. Luckily for them, it seems now that most players in the group aren't going to get anywhere near them. That was until the return of ScousePower this round, who flourished with a 3 point round, strangely when it wasn't himself who made the questions! He has propelled himself right into the thick of it now, and the qualification fight is probably now going to be a 3 horse race. Will it be one of the GG star player, the newbie or the creator himself who will make it through?
Group D
1) Tardelli59
4 (48)
2) FinnanFOREngland
3 (63)
3) RodgerThat
2 (65)
4) RedCherries
0 (139)
5) WatchRodgersRedsRunRiot
0 (180)
Tardelli59's one point lead at the top is still intact, but he now has a new challenger in the form of FinnanFOREngland. The latter player was the star man in the group, as his 3 point round gave himself a real fighting chance of progressing. His and Tardelli59's splendid form are a real concern for RodgerThat though, as he is now sitting in 3rd place, a couple of points off the pace. RedCherries and WatchRodgersRedsRunRiot are now seemingly out of the picture, with both failing to turn up in round two.
Group E
1) Tuta
5 (49)
2) OldSniperWolfy96
3 (64)
3) BewdleyFan
2 (57)
4) Glizendo
1 (65)
5) SonOfSid
1 (68)
The tightest group in the tournament just got a hell of a lot more open! Tuta was the player of the entire round with a phenomenal score of 4 points and 3 penalty points. This has give him sole control in the group, and he is easily in the driving seat now as we reach the halfway stage. In contrast, the other three players who were level were Tuta had unimpressive rounds, with only BewdleyFan scoring a point. Unfortunately for the leader, OldSniperWolfy bounced back from a dismal first round to move into 2nd position. There is still a considerable gap between him and Tuta, meaning it is definitely now the Kiwi's group to lose!
Group F
1) SoontobeChampions
5 (50)
2) Chappers8
5 (53)
3) SuperSpeedy
3 (73)
4) Patsboy
1 (118)
5) Riises-no1fanagen
0 (180)
Group F had a horrendous turn out with 2 players not turning up, and a former champion posting a late set of answers! Nevertheless, SoontobeChampions and Chappers8 took full advantage of the situation and both posted 3 points each to sit comfortably at the top of the table. There is now just 3 penalty points separating the two, so this group may well go down to the wire. Speedy's late set of answers still gave him a point, and his chances of progressiong are still far from over. A couple of points can easily be caught up in two rounds!
Group G
1) LFCsince73
5 (48)
2) RotationPolicy
5 (49)
3) DarkStrike
3 (46)
4) GunnerWinTheLeague
3 (60)
5) BennyNoonsGhost
1 (61)
LFCsince73's lead in Group G was short lived as last years runner-up RotationPolicy tied level at the top. The two players really couldn't be any closer, with just 1 penalty point separating the duo. Whilst both players are tied on 5 points, there is a couple of points gap back to the other players in the group. The nearest challenger is DarkStrike, who still holds a superior penalty points tally to the rest of the player. However, his below average round gave Gunner the chance to also join DarkStrike on 3 points. Benny picked up his first point of the tournament, but his Euro 2012 chances seem to be becoming much slimmer each round.
Group H
1) Aus-10
4 (60)
2) djlsfe1
3 (50)
3) Cumbrian
3 (57)
4) Jelly5id
2 (33)
5) Tweepie
0 (129)
In the final group, Aus-10 snatched the lead away from newcomer djlsfe1 following a 2 point round. The leader, often remembered as the player who frequently ends up as the runner-up, will be extremely eager to hold on to this lead and secure his first GG title. Like most other groups though, he is going to have to work hard for it. Djlsfe1 and former league champion Cumbrian sit in 2nd and 3rd place respectively on 3 points, and one slip-up from Aus-10 could see the chasing pack leapfrog the leader. Jelly5id gave himself a glimmer of hope in round two aswell, with his 2 point round allowing himself to cut the 2 point deficit to djlsfe1 and Cumbrian to just the 1 point. Tweepie failed to post and is surely out of contention now for the qualification spot.
