17 Years of age what a promising player he looks as well. I personally think once the takeover is completed by January time we should buy this kid then loan him back out. May as well save ourselves £20 million less by buying him earlier because I say in 3 years time when he's 20 he will be worth double his £12 million price tag.

We obviously can't buy him now and tell him to play backup to torres as this age however if we do what we're doing with Wilson which is loaning him back to his initial club we can only benefit! We got Shelvey, Sterling, Kelly, Darby etc all for 3-4 years time...maybe we should do some looking to the future like wenger!

Apparently Fernando Torres is his hero. He plays for Ipswich BTW.

EDIT: He has a £12m price tag? No thanks. He's also 1.91m, useful in the air probably.

£12m is to much to pay for an unproven kid.

no better than the young ones we have imo and our own fans would laugh if we demanded around 10m for them

£30 million for Wayne Rooney? Yes he played 3 games in the Euros fair enough but that is a very big price tag. All I'm saying is rather have him snapped up for £12 million than in the future saying "ahhh we can't afford £25 million."

Except that Rooney was playing in the PL and for England. This lad is playing for the U17s at a similar age.

For the money they want for him he'd be a MASSIVE risk.

I don't see anything in him apart from his age to justify the price tag they've put on him. He scored a grand total of 4 goals in the Championship last season & they want £10-12m for him?

Let's be honest if we spent £10m of our budget on an unproven kid, there wouldnt be alot of unhappy people on here and i imagine it would put Ray back in bad humour. Would be absolute madness.

Ludicrous price, and the comparisons with Rooney are way off. When he's being touted for the same price as a 26 year old player who's played for PSV, Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan; has 18 goals in 20 U21 matches and 16 goals in 36 full international appearances - it shows just how mental the price for young English talent has become.

It wasn't so long ago that a young and highly rated Darren Bent left Ipswich for £2.5m, and that was in a market where big money was being spent and the economy was booming. Madness.

Wickham is a fantastic talent, just like Bale and Walcott were when they played in the Champioship.

Liverpool Owners Willing To Sanction £10m Move For Ipswich Town Starlet Connor Wickham - Report

Liverpool are believed to be in line to make a £10 million move on Ipswich Town's young striker Connor Wickham.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all thought to have had their advances turned down as it was not in line with the Championship side's asking price. But it has been reported that the Reds are willing to meet Ipswich's price to acquire the services of the youngster.

And the Daily Mail claims that manager Roy Hodgson has been tracking the 17-year-old talent since his days at Fulham, and has since been keeping tabs on the England Under-21 forward.

Wickham has made only three appearances for Ipswich this term, as he has fallen prey to ankle and knee injuries.

I think it's a risky move, but one worth making. If we can get him for £10m, I'd actually be happy with that.

Sounds like a very Commoli type transfer target, too.

Will this be the "World Class" player we're allowed to buy?

    Is he that good?

I heard good things about him for the Under 19s but surely that doesn't make him worth 10 million. From what I read about him, he's not actually been that great in the Championship either. Even Tottenham aren't willing to pay more then 8.5 million, and even thats appearance related.

Considering our record with young players in recent years 10 million seems an awful lot of money to put into such a player. I think I'd actually prefer Carlton Cole

take a nought off and i would consider it..

worth nowhere near that figure and i think we have better youngsters..

one good thing, if he's worth 10m ngog must be worth 50 easy...

we seriously need to sack people at the club who sets a value for our players and hire ipswich's

£10m on a 17 year old who looks promising but has never shown signs of becoming a superstar? Signings like that will drive our club into the ground

I've been watching him this season after his successful tournament with England and he hasn't done am awful lot to impress me TBH. He is 17 though and getting a fair bit of football, if we were to buy him then we'd need to loan him out as letting him rot in the reserves is a good way to throw away £10m

Loaning him out would be the ideal thing to do,but I don't think we can afford to pay 10 million then loan him out.
