I honestly think he's way overrated by people on here, he had chances here and was poor in the main and he's went back to Italy and has been nothing more than average back there. I just don't get the hype, is it because he's Italian, because if he was English and we paid £17m for him he'd be getting slated.

I don't think the Juve and Milan fans would agree with you there. I would want him back purely because I think he's a better option in midfield than Charlie Adam.

Credits to penga from RAWK. Directed to everyone who was saying he doesn't like England's lifestyle.

    Comolli:

"I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions.

"Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself."

    http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/08...rgoes-medical/

"The Italy international has agreed a pay cut to move to the Serie A champions after he was frozen out of Liverpool’s future plans."

They are paying him 1.7m this season and if they signed him it would've increased to 2.2m.

I hope Rodgers keeps him. If Cole is stays and Aquaman is shipped out then I'll honestly be ********** off.

Thats just a media story though, does not prove anything, i personally think there is more to this than we have been told.

If these quotes are accurate and were straight out of Comolli's mouth, how can it be a mere 'media story'?

I know, I just don't get it! His youtube highlights video includes a couple of passes that I could make, a few headed passes, some missed shots etc etc

I forgot that everything the media says is true and they never ever twist peoples words or use them out of context.

I would like to see him given another chance as i dont really think we gave him a proper crack of the whip before. I do think alot of people overate him, for me i dont see why these other clubs would not want him if he was all that.

Time we just let him go. Whilst he is an incredbily stlyish player with a fantastic talent, there are better players out there. Namely Nuri Sahin.

Time to let him go. He is a great player with skill and an eye to shoot but he doesn't want to play in England seeing as we have loaned him out every season to Italy, if we do sell him here will end up going back to AC Milan

Aquilani could do a job here, of that im certain. There is definitely quality in him.

For me, the real questions are i) does he want to play for LFC, or at least prepared to see out his contract and give a genuine 100% for 2 seasons and ii) can someone else more dedicated and effective be brought in on his wages

I suspect it is probably best to cut our losses and find a new player with that money.

We've totally screwed ourselves in terms of a negotiating position so no one is going to come in with anything but a bargian basement price.

Mayby BR should consider keeping the boy at least untill the Jan window. Good chance Gerrard is going to be knackered from the Euros so we might need Aquilani's passing ability till Gerrard gets his second wind. Might prove to be a good move as the Prem, even since we signed Aquilani is not as hard as it was and there is more protection for the ball players.

I'm gutted if this story is true, because I could see this

    ---------------------------------------------Lucas--------------------------

    ----------------------------Gerrard------------------------Aquilani

    -----------------Jovetic?------------------------Carroll-------------Suarez----------

With wing backs providing the width.

Agree in part but why sell him to AC. They turned down the option to buy and obviously take LFC for mugs and want him on the cheap.

Possibly yea. But if he's on 80k a week and doesn't want to play in this league (that's an assumption on my part) then I'm just not sure there is any future for him. I'd rather we just made a choice and stuck with it.

BR is going to have a lot of change to deal with and a group of players learning a new system. I'd be keen to get as much solidity and stability as soon as poss to make that transition as smooth as possible

If the stories about him leaving for £3m are true then I feel physically sick. Once more we have had our pants pulled down by the Italians and been well and truly shafted. £5m was a relative pittance as it was, yet the mighty Milan only want to pay £3m? Some crack negotiating team we have. I'd rather see him here for two seasons and leave for nothing rather than be insulted like this. Worst. Transfer. Ever.

I'd rather make him play ( he's on a contract ) and whenever we don't have a game put him under house arrest so he can't leave the country

Which club is in the queue for Aquilani after Milan?

    Exactly.

selling and loaning all our best players seems like the way we do things now. except gerrard and our top defenders, all our best midfield and attackers have been intentionally sold without equivalent replacement (transfer fee and wage) for the sake of profit. its clear that our squad value has dropped as players like downing, henderson and adam is not the same value and attribute as its predecessors. Fans who support or think that aquilani should be sold have no valid grounds but only to suport the club profitting. every one who appreciates good pass and move midfielder can see aquilani pace, dribbilng, passing, quick turn of pace and movement that adam, henderson and even lucas cannot achieve. not one of our existing midefielders can move and pass at that speed except gerrard.

If this is the way the fans support liverpool and its inability to see a good player and rather keep the weaker ones then this club is not living up to its potential. i believe next year under FSG will be a year of reckoning. If things work out on a cheap budget then great and we get 4th. If not, then I believe the stadium wont be a pleasant place to be in as we all know liverpool fans know that the club deserves more than the likes of adam, downing and henderson.

Still, £3m sale after buying him crocked for close to £20m? Well and truly had on this deal. They'll probably pay it over 20 years too, due to economic and sporting turbulence or some other ******* lame excuse.

No doubt we were mugged when we bought him, Aquilani has been giggling like a schoolgirl every time he got his payslip from LFC, £3m is good money for him and the sooner this sad chapter in our history is finished the better.

I still can't understand the fascination some of our support has for him, there are actually fans that want him to stay here.

£3m for Aquilani? I'd rather keep Aquilani, pay them £3m and throw Adam in to sweeten the deal.

the ones that will be happy are FSG and milan. one makes a profit as per the patterns of selling our better players and the other makes a great value. the PR dept ebing sarcastic as "fans" to make us think otherwise would be a great strategy too. However, after H&G, not really possbile to execute anymore.

you say fans cant understand the fascination with aquilani, compared to what? the owners trying to sell a 20mil valued crock now rumoured to be at a 3m value when healthy and performing consistently at best? tell me about it mister PR man.
