I hope not, the man's pure quality in the majority of games he played.

I wouldn't blame him for going if Rafa is here next year, he was the missing link this season and Rafa ********** it up royally.

if gerrard was outspoken like roy keane or someone i think fans would know what's really going on. i'm sure it will all come out but guaranteed gerrard will let it all come out when certain players leave. if rafa or the owners leave i'm sure there will be a verbal slating. no one can do anything at the moment because you cannot predict what will happen this summer.

a few players now have come out and said theyre not sure about their future yet, but that doesnt mean their leaving. id be surprised if aquilani wasnt here next year, especially if benitez goes.

Don't worry, they wouldn't be able to afford his wages anyway, don't fiorentina have a wage cap of £40,000???? Thats only half of what he's earning at anfield. The best from Alberto is yet to come!!!!!

Why should he come out and say anything, it not like he been linked away from the club persistantly. Yes maybe the odd ridiculous newspaper story, but why should he react to them. And nobody should accuse Stevie of been disloyal.

I'm not saying he should - I've only stated it worries me - I wish you would read posts before entering with your moronic posts.

i doubt if the club would be prepared to sell him at a loss any way so he will probably still be here.

Wasnt even on the bench. Is he injured again or does this show that Roy has no belief in him whatsoever?

    Sigh.

Expect lots of rumours of him being sold. I hate the media.

Wasn't good enough in pre season, so is behind Macherano and Lucas in the scheme of things.

In all honesty, he's an incomplete player. He doesn't seem to be tactically very strong and doesn't put the same effort in defensively as everyone else.

He has a good mind and always knows where his team mates are and is creativity in his touches and passes. The problem is that he doesn't have the accuracy needed at the moment - I don't know if this is because he was settling in or because he was coming back from injury (or both)... or if it is because he's not as strong a player as we'd hoped.

This lack of accuracy means and tactical weakness means that he can really only play behind the striker and even then its going to be a bit random whether he contributes well or just keeps losing the ball. That makes him a risk to play and when there are better, more reliable players available then I don't think he will play.

I hope he does get his accuracy, because if his body can do what his mind wants it to he'll do really well.

don't shoot me but i never had a good feeling on 20 m aquilani last year...
benitez did and put him on the bench for too long.
new manager,he had to improve and after pre season matches?
    guess that's the reason ...
roy is smart and i hope aquilani get a chance again to improve again even i have questions.selling him would never give our 20 m back-so lost money again ...
    the keane story
    Benitez thank you

Agreed, but we may get something for him in the region of £10M. There are a lot of better players than him out there, a lot.

I wouldn't sell a player who hasn't been here for a full season yet.

He's still moulding into the squad, if he gets played week-in week-out he'll become a great asset and thus being worth his transfer price of 20mil.

But if rafa just bought a 20mil benchwarmer then it was a bad decision...

Yep and that is the problem. He has been and still is a £20M benchwarmer(he cant even make the bench)

Some of the Aquilani comments on here are disgraceful. The guy misses one game and suddenly he was never good enough for us anyway. An incomplete player? What does that even mean? He certainly demonstrated his quality last season when given a chance and I'm sure he'll do so again given the chance.

Considering we have another big game on Thursday, it's likely that Hodgson is planning on starting him then. Given Cole's suspension now for the next few PL games, maybe Aquilani will take his spot in those games and Cole will play in Europe. Just a thought.

i totally agree with you, wtf is going on in peoples brains, aqua showed he had quality so much at the end of last season we were all looking forward to him being one of our top stars this year, people forget way to quick, and its not fair at all, i dont no about you guys, but i feel very sorry for aqua, he is head and shoulders above lucas and you can **** off if you think different

    talking sense, well done (Y)

We got a lot of games to play this season and rotation is a certainty. Maybe Roy was going to use Aquilani more in Europe but the roles will probably be reversed this coming week with Coles Suspension.

Relax, it there will be 60+ games this year. Hodgson could't fit him on the bench yesterday but he will play his share of games as a starter as long as he stays fit. It just shows we have a little depth in the team. You needed to have Lucas as a sub becuase he can play DM and Aquilani can't

I really think that roy sees javier mascherano and stevie as 1st choice pairing in the middle, with lucas and poulson providing the cover, i think he will try and send him back to italy and get a player in return as he knows that particular market well and has many freinds in italy.
