Brief Summary:

4.34pm: Our reporter on the spot, Sachin Nakrani summarises from court:

RBS says owners have contradicted rules of sales agreement by trying to oust two members of the board and there should be a mandatory injunction imposed by the court to make sure the board is reinstated.

G&H admit they have breached sales agreement but say they only did it because the board excluded them from the sales agreement and refused to take into account stronger alternative bids to NESV. As a result, they dispute the injunction claim.

The Board disputes the claim that the owners were excluded from the sales agreement and says that instead the owners simply refused to take part. It also insists the NESV bid was the strongest on the table after a thorough process to find a buyer for the club.

Even though a sale has been agreed, Tom Hicks and George Gillett will still not let Liverpool Football Club and all we fans have our dignity. Instead, we're heading for a court date as the deeply unpopular owners continue to try and maintain their death grip on the club.

We at Kop Faithful are asking you to re-consider your position in terms of representing Hicks and Gillett as they continue to bleed the club dry on a daily basis. A sale has been agreed and everyone connected to Liverpool Football Club, apart from the two owners, want to move on.

Hicks believed he had refinancing agreed with Blackstone until Kop Faithful made their voices heard. We are asking you to do the same - withdraw from representing Hicks and Gillett in their fruitless battle in the courtroom next week. THE future of Liverpool Football Club will be decided in London’s High Court within a matter of days, it was revealed last night.

The Anfield board remain confident they can overcome any legal challenge put before them by co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

And Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton predicted the Americans would soon be walking away “humiliated” from Anfield.

The legal fight over stewardship of the club could take place as early as tomorrow with potential new owners New England Sports Ventures, a sports company who own the Boston Red Sox, taking control of Liverpool in time for the crucial Merseyside derby in 10 days’ time.

Co-owners Hicks and Gillett are vehemently opposing the Liverpool FC board’s decision to accept a £300m bid for the club from NESV, agreed by English LFC directors Broughton, chief executive Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre.

But they remain confident the process will be over, and Liverpool Football Club will have unequivocal new owners, before the derby at Goodison Park.

With the Royal Bank of Scotland’s crucial October 15 deadline for Hicks and Gillett to repay their £237m debts approaching, Liverpool FC bosses insisted that:

Even if the club loses the court case, RBS will immediately call in the debt and sell to NESV for £300m;

A back-up plan is primed and in place, currently confidential, if the club loses the pending legal tussle with Hicks and Gillett;
