I have maintained all the way that this is a batting wicket.

I thought 320 all out was short of what you should expect on this wicket, so this is even worse.

The bad thing about this stand is it shows it will not be difficult for Sri lanka to build on what is already a massive lead.

I wonder what Jimmy's and Monty's top scores are....

So England bowled out for 193 and trail by 125.

That last stand might give us a tad of hope but I seriously doubt it.

I know its a cliche but early wickets are required or I dread to think what they will set us

England's bowlers are going to be tired and hot and bothered.

We could be toiling out there for the best part of two days, which could leave us with something close to 600 if they bat really well.

That might be a bit much but I guarantee you they will have a lead of 400 +. Unless England's bowlers have an absolute blinder.

A chase of 280 + on this pitch in days 3 (lunch onwards) will be an extremely tough total to catch. And that's thinking optimistically.

We will need to bowl them out for 150 or under. Anything above this will be to big to chase down for me.

Basically what I'm saying is, we're screwed.

Yeah lets just bowl them out for 100 - easy

    Forever the optimist

    Swanny with a wicket, 8-2.

This one span a bit and beat the outside edge.

His first over as well, makes a habit of this don't he!

But say England do pull this off, and get's us back the batters still have to step up,

Jayawardene comes out to bat for the third time, once yesterday, the the start of today and now.

Jayawardene has gone to Swanny! Huge wicket.

Can we pull off the impossible?

I honestly don't know why everyone is struggling on this wicket.

    It aint no minefield.

    14-3

All out for 100 is still on the cards

Lets hope Sanga is the next man out, don't want him settling in

Well we did bowl them out recently in England for under 90.

    Different conditions and situation though.

Get the impression these two are looking to bat the day out without scoring very much.....sensible really!

Yep, the longer they play the easier it will be to score.

Edge their way to a lead of around 250, then speed up the run rate when the pitch starts to crack.

Then hay presto they have a very good pitch to bowl us out on.

    We still need something special.

    We needed that wicket.

    Swanny again, 41-4.

One more before the close of play would be lovely.

    lead 166 so far.

Keep it under 250 and we have a chance, BUT our batters will have to buck their ideas up.

Incredible to think that there has been 16 wickets today, on this wicket.

Yeah that would be the icing on the cake right now.

It's amazing that all the batters are failing out here.

Take away Jayawardene and Bell and it's been a horror show.

Now that is the biggest wicket.

Swanny get's his 4th of the day.

Sama was going well there, so important to prevent him from going on.

    72-5

I guess my +400 lead is looking way out.

I only caught a few overs but i'm confused how people have struggled to bat on this wicket

Yes it really isn't that bad of a wicket, although it has started to spin more in the last hour.

But this does not justify 17 wickets falling today and 25 in two days.

Yeah that ball Swann bowled to Randiv as soon as he came in turned a lot and was so close to getting him.

Shame about our batting. I'd like to think we can finish them off quickly and knock of the runs, but for some reason I cant get my hopes up just yet. Even 250 would be a big ask for us at the moment.

right then i still haven't seen the match or highlights but what the **** are the batsmen doing if you lot reckon its a batting wicket?

the match is delicately poised although slightly in favor of SL

bell seems to have overcome his spin troubles

i was surprised to read it was mahela's 30th century...where would you guys put him among the batting greats?

The first part of that sentence can happen tomorrow - the bowlers have been a shining light for us all winter. The second part? Us chasing down a target? The lead Sri Lanka have now is already too much.
Really angry that we appear to have learnt nothing from the batting shambles v Pakistan about how to construct an innings in these conditions. These batsman have all played vital knocks at crunch times in their career but atm their minds & decision-making seem totally scrambled. Fair play to Bell for his knock - he would've been the man i'd though least likely to top-score after the difficult run of form he's been in.

Does anyone think this Test will go into day 4?

There are not that many demons in the pitch. Although it has definitively started spinning now, as you can see cause Swann was excellent today.

For the first 2 innings, I would say is a 400+ wicket. So God awful batting. Trott's and Strauss's today were the worst.

I will forgive Trott though, just a moment of madness.

It might just squeeze into day 4, but that would mean England showing some fight here!
