    1. first you have to live where I do (Croatia).
    2. order one Gerrard jersey which was "on sale" - for 44 GBP + Shipping (15 GBP)
    3. wait 22 days
    4. receive an item with a hidden additional state tax - 34 GBP. I'm actually mad about this part, nothing to do with LFC.

    Damn government and taxes.

How does the saying go? You can only guarantee 3 things in life. Death, taxes and FIFA Corruption.

At least you live in a beautiful country!

It will not be beautiful any more when I'm done with the government.

I'm so freaking mad, this is just an icing on the cake, the last straw, bunch of money stealing, bottom-feeding, scum-sucking algae eaters!

Do what you want with the government. (Seems to be an international trend at the moment).

Please don't touch the Adriatic coastline.

    Which Town/City are you based?

I spent £50+ on a Suarez shirt, from an adidas store. They bodged the S and when I said I wasn't happy they said they'd refund me the letter, the cheeky sods! I managed to twist their arm to print me a whole new one. Even now I'm not happy with how far they've spaced the letters apart. Might chuck it in a charity shop and order another one online.

How do they even get the hidden £34 off you? Refuse to hand it over unless you pay?

I live in Rijeka on the coast. I spend my summer here where my mother is from.

Adidas store you say? Very unprofessional to the point of store burning!

Yup, a postman came to my door saying I have to pay additional 220 local currency or I could kiss the jersey goodbye.

We had similar characters in the past, most famously Dick Turpin. not so famously, Adam and the ants!

Oh the irony, have just noticed your username.

Yes, you can't avoid customs. They are like Paul the octopus.

I sympathise - I sent a pair of specs back to my UK optician to have the lenses upgraded, they didn't even get into the country because customs wanted 200 quid duty. Ended up having them back and buying new ones instead. Boo

Should have got in contact with me. I own a courier company down in London. And ship these kind of things all the time. With no duties or taxes.

I met a guy in Croatia who used to be play for one of the bigger teams over there, but is now basically a taxi driver in the summer and a footy coach the rest of the year.

He told me about a doctor from Liverpool who goes to Croatia every summer. The doctor brings him the new kit over and he drives the guy to and from the airport. I guess that's one way to do it!

Agreed on the beauty of Croatia - I went a couple of years ago and loved it!

Called Reflex Couriers. I'll put my info up on 'The Kop' if that's an easier way to get in contact?

Thanks mate. If any of you drove by the place we can always go out for a beer, just ping me via Kop several days before so I can get my ausweis (German for exit authorization) from my wife.

Next time, get it from a small sports shop somewhere so you can get them to post the invoice separately and put it down as a gift and so it doesn't look commercial. You can skip the taxes that way. I find this a very useful loop hole.
