LFC will be a much better team next season if Gerrard and Carroll start on the bench.

The reason for switching Gerrard is obvious: age and a growing predisposition to injuries mean the club cannot rely on him being the mainstay of the team any more. It is also time for Gerrard to quit the international scene.

Carroll as a substitute is going to win me no friends, and maybe it is a bit too early to be making this call, but LFC look a much better prospect with Suarez and Kuyt as the first-choice strike partnership.

When LFC are playing at home they should start with this duo. If they fail to make an impact, bring on Carroll for the last 30 minutes of a game. When the club are playing away, or against teams who play very physical football, then Carroll should start.

Carroll just got back from a huge injury layoff and has only had a couple of games to play. If you would start Kuyt instead of him next season thank god you are not our manager. Carroll is just as quick as Kuyt and far, far more deadly provided he has some service.

people here should realize that Carroll is a huge potential and he is the guy who could finish off most the chances the team will make. we are using him with long balls today because our defenders lack this ability to play a simple passing game and our midfield is not dominating the center of the pitch. Once we can control the midfield there wont be a need for Carroll to play as a route 1 target man.

Yep, not a bad idea, having 35mil player on the bench.

Yes. And Pepe Reina should only play night games. And Carra should play upfront because of his scoring ability.

Gerrard will keep playing for England because he draws in revenue. He will keep playing for us because unless he is consistantly injured, he is our best midfielder. I doubt we will buy 3 better than him this summer. Carroll still needs time but I feel its more about how the teams played as a whole that has made us play poorly with Carroll in the team. That said, off the basis of 4 (?) games I would agree, Kuyt and Suarez seem to play better than Suarez and Carroll.

Gerrard? On the bench? You must be joking.

Carroll, on the bench? He just came back from injury and scored a cracker for England. So you'd rather have him on the bench than give a potentially world class player playing time?

If anything our tactics need to change. No more of this long balls to Carroll's head nonsense. The kid is good with the ball on his feet, given the chance.

Suarez is more of a goal threat than both of them so he always has to start. I dont think it will be long untill Suarez is cleaning up off Carrol's knock downs. Give the pair off them a good pre season together and watch them go next season.

Once we have some proper midfielders the carrol suarez partnership will blossom.

People need to realise that it is the lack of quality behind Carroll that is the problem!!

without wingers, not much point in having carrol but next season, that should be addressed. and to even contemplate playing without gerrard is a joke. we are awful without him. the likes of meireles, spearing and jonjo will hardly get us going now are they.

Can't see Gerrard sticking around if he isn't a starter, likewise Carroll a la Crouch

I often question the football knowledge of some "fans" on these boards. Some of the knowledge displayed on here is well below that of Raymond Domenech's.

Suarez has been a flop. Much worse than Voronin. I think N'Gog should start up front with Kuyt and Maxi out wide with Suarez and Carroll on the bench. Meireles has been in terrible form. That lad called Poulsen would do a much better job. As for Reina, we should sell him off and buy back Charles Itandje for a starting role.
