Luis Suarez, Uraguay vs South Korea: Nice curl on it, but I hate him so much after Ghana.

    Love him now!

Even though he cheated in that Ghana game, I loved his passion.

Did you see his reaction when Uruguay scored (or was it got a penalty?) and he watched on a TV screen?

    I was the same!

I cursed him so much after he did it. I hated him for how he celebrated and how he was paraded around like a hero.....

Nobody can call football fans fickle thats for sure...

Exactly my thoughts. I can't imagine a player who would do otherwise.

I cant believe people are still on about this! So,Lets put this to bed...shall we!

YES .....he handled the ball inside the box.
YES......he was sent off due to his actions.
    YES......Ghana got a penalty as a result.
    NO......They did not score.

How does that make him a cheat! It was their opportunity to take and gyan did not! Its Ghana's fault not Suarez's!!!

It was the reaction to the miss that was a bit tactless.

    Gyan bottled it.

Felt sorry for Gyan after he missed. Big opportunity, did not take it.

Because he intentionally stopped the ball from going into the goal with his hands which is deemed illegal.... i.e. cheating.
Whether Ghana scored or not, it doesn't take away from what Suarez did.
I know he's a Liverpool player and all, but lets call a spade a spade here, and Suarez cheated.
Doesn't take away from how good a footballer he is, but lets try and reduce the Liverpool-tint on our glasses as much as we can at least....

Ghana missed the pen he gave away. I actually still kinda hate him for that reaction more than anything.

At LFC he can focus his passion and attitude. Watched the 3-1 over Man Utd back on LFC TV and spotted, for the first time, that when that wee da Silva runt (whichever it was) was trying to piledrive all round him after he should've been sent off, Suarez was pulling his hair behind the referee. I thought; lolz.

And he got punished to the full extent of the law - a straight red card.

What Suarez shouldn't be held accountable for is the fact that Gyan missed.

I couldn't care less if Suarez handled to prevent Ghana scoring.

I'm not Ghanaian or Uruguayan so quite frankly didn't give a crap either way who won the game.

Suarez got a deserved red card. end of story. Not his fault that Gyan bottled it with the penalty is it?

Repped for that. I was dreading the thought of explaining it myself.

It's the WC, and like a lot of South Americans it meant a lot to him even in these sterile times.

He wasn't baiting the Ghana team, just overjoyed that his team might progress.

Yeah he was. Just because he was rightly punished doesn't take away from the fact that he still cheated lol.

And Suarez isn't accountable for Gyan missing. All he is accountable for is blocking the shot on goal with his hands.
It's only his reaction that enraged people further....

I was in watching that game in a bar in Zambia!

    Holy **** was it tense?!?!?!?!

The entire continent of Africa were behind Ghana and they were soooo unbelievably devastated by the drama at the end of that match i could see many of them crying!

I remember thinking at the time I absolutely hated Suarez for what he did, it reminded me of Henry Vs Ireland except way worse!

And I also remember the atmosphere there was quite uncomfortable, and I know if Suarez was ever spotted in Africa he would be lynched!

    I love him now though

yeah he didnt cheat, he didnt exactly do it with the intent of the ref not seeing it, he took the punishment, got sent off meaning hed miss the semi final and hes one of uraguays best penalty takers and wasnt on the pitch to take one, and not to mention gyan had an easier chance to score from the penalty than the header which suarez handled on the line. Also, what player in their right mind wouldnt handle of the line in the last seconds of extra time and let their country go out of the world cup?! just shows his desire to win which is what we need more of in footballers nowadays! the only reason everyone hated him after was because it was against ghana, the only african team left and everyone wanted an african team to do well, against any other team noone would even remember it now

Was over there myself in 2009, watched the Confederations Cup, I discovered that South Africa aren't very popular on mainland Africa

Ghana got the penalty, Suárez was sent off
He didn't cheat. Ghana/Gyan just bottled it
and it was off-side for Ghana before the handball anyway, so the goal would have been the cheat instead. Somehow people keep ignoring it...well I guess it makes the whole thing a lot more dramatic and romantic...stupid ignorant media and it's brainwash again

I don't regret anything I said about that. The whole incident was bad form and he's a man of questionable integrity as far as I'm concerned. That said, he's brilliant and of course I'm right behind him here.

I ******* love Suarez, hes a great player and man !
anybody would have handballed in the situation he was in, and it worked to benifit his team.

Take this, If we were in the champions league final, drawing 1-1 with i dont know Milan Suarez comes back for a corner and he has the opportunity to save the ball with his hands, to save the match for Liverpool. Would you want him todo it ?

For a handball and a celebration? Your standards are astronomical sir.

Completely agree. If Ghana had scored no one would have called him CHEAT. I am sure no one on LFC board would complain if he does this for us in any match. We would call him "Saviour", "Messiah".

Stop calling him CHEAT. Its nice to see someone who's so passionate about his team.

I have similar concerns. He seems to go down very easily, argue with refs and I have seen him wave imaginary yellow cards at the ref in order to get opponents booked, none of which I want to see from a player in a Liverpool shirt.

I love his attitude and ability with a ball at his feet and as a Liverpool fan I am behind him 100%, I just hope he can cut this side out of his game out.

So he should have just let the ball go in and let his country be knocked out of the WC?

Sometimes I wonder do people think about what they say on here. He got rightly sent off for it. Gyan missing the penalty had nothing to do with Suarez.

I'll admit that the manner of his celebration after the miss wasn't very classy but if anyone really expected Suarez to make no effort to stop the ball going in then I don't know what you expect from players.
