i did 6pm-6am night shift 5 days a week for a few years, its difficult to begin with, but the main thing is to keep busy, keeping busy will help you immensely

stay away from red bulls and energy drinks etc because they will start affecting your sleep, trust me they may work in the beginning but they will hurt you in the end

get good sleep, depending on your hours whether its 8 or 12 if its 8 its not so bad but if you are doing a 12 hour shift your sleep is essential and good sleep at that

basically mate you just need to keep busy eat good nutritional food (fast food will make you feel sluggish and at 2am sluggish is not a good feeling)

eat lots of fruit i found that to be the best

hope that helps lemme know if you have any other questions about it!

    good luck!

You should be fine if your job needs concentration - humans can do those kind of tasks easier with a lack of sleep than mundane tasks.

Don't drink caffeine 12 hours before you intend to go to bed - use Jaffa cakes for the energy hit.

When you get home you may need ear plugs and dark curtains.

Avoid the temptation to go to bed straight away when you go home wait until your first yawn.

get into a routine of work and sleep and stick to it.

If you feel tired or can't sleep - don't operate dangerous machinery or drive.

Hope you're not a smoker, nightshift at mine means going 10 hours without.. Apparently makes it a lot harder! Not that I'd ever do a nightshift in the first place

Yours is good too, however fruit late at night gives me acid unless I eat it before my butties.

I agree with the eating fruit thing. Snacking on raw sugarsnap peas and other raw veggies is good too. Remember to have wholemeal bread, because white bread will give you a short sugar rush and then you'll feel sluggish. I've had to stay awake for 48 hours and more for various things, so with practice I've kind of trained myself to work for stupid amounts of time
