Dalglish to outmanoeuvre Arsenal for Cissokho next week

The speculation concerning Liverpool’s search for a left back is going to come to a head early next week, as we understand that Kenny Dalglish is going to table an official offer for Lyon’s 23 year old Aly Cissokho.

Just yesterday we reported that Lyon had publicly denied any contact with Liverpool concerning Cissokho, but this is about to change as Dalglish resolves to get in a quality left back to strengthen his squad.

This move by Liverpool will also outmanoeuvre other potential suitors of Cissokho, including Arsenal as Arsene Wenger has been keeping very close tabs on the French international. Italian Serie A side Roma are also rumoured to be interested in the player.

If Dalglish’s approach for Cissokho is rebuffed by Lyon, it is likely that Liverpool will return to looking at Newcastle United’s Jose Enrique who they also have been linked to since the turn of the year.

Yup, me2. Been quiet recently, but that may mean the talks are going on behind the scenes and the media don't have a clue (nothing new there!)

Would be great. I don't personally know how good cissokho is, but I'm willing to give anyone a chance now.

If Arsenal get Cissokho as well as Gernevo (bad spelling) they will be a real force next season as opposed to the bit of a joke they threaten to be. Cissokho would be a good buy for us also. Hope we we get him.

    Exactly it was a loan.

My point is, I hope we have learnt our lessons about buying players from the French league.

So, the additon of Cissokho makes a team go from "a bit of a joke" to a "real force"?

Titi Camara - he was at least entertaining

Anelka - a total crime we did not sign him

You can't generalise like that though - plenty of players from the French leagues have done well in England and in other big teams in Europe.

Well, you mentioned signing from the French League though, so does Camara count then?

Alternatively, I could ask you: name me some flops. You'll say Cheyrou, Diouf and Diomede. Is that really the basis of your point? If so, that's a poor point IMO.

My point is not to slate the French League or French players. But everyone talks about these players like they're the next Maldini, and more often than not, they tun out to be not good enough.

Why can't we wait until a player is actually signed, plays for the team for a length of time, plays well for a length of time, and actually earns some of the plaudits.

Something doesnt seem right to me about this. Why are Lyon sounding him out for a transfer at a low price if he is so good.

    Something stinks to me

He would add strength to the defense and with Gervinho that will give them a stronger team all over the pitch. Sometimes a good signing can gel and motivate a team and think he would give them confidence.

Any way "big Cliff" how about making some constructive suggestions yourself it's easy to be sarcastic and criticize other posters.

Cissokho would be a great signing for us, he has the ability to be the complete Left back under the right managment and who better than Clarke and Kenny to help him. Unfourtunately i just dont see this transfer happening.

    Touche!

Hardly being sarcastic - just think that what you posted was ridiculous. Wanted you to justify it, which you haven't. Gervinho's already there anyway so you've basically said that Cissokho will make them a "real force" rather than a "bit of a joke". No need to get stroppy with me for pointing out your poor point and, if you're referring to the point about the French palyers, the same goes for that. They're both bad points - it needed to be pointed out. Sorry if that offends you...

I wouldn't mind this lad or Alvaro Pereira. Arsenal will sign either Jose Enrique or Leighton Baines.

If saying, buying French players or players from the French League hasn't really worked out too well for us is ridiculous, you need to get out more.

That's not what you said though. However, please forget about it, I don't want to argue.
