Is this our best 11 and formation as things stand ?

Best XI is personal choice and in truth there isn't really any best XI as it'll be different for each individual, some may have the same one at times of course.

I would always say that if you have a best XI and it's clear as muck and 95% of people chose the same it can be an issue as the squad might not be that great, so if you have 20 people choosing and 20 different ones it's a good thing.

What I love about the OP is that all the players have been listed by surname, except for Johnson who is named as 'GLE N j'

Can the Mods not develop some kind of 'formation template' to add into posts to negate the need for squiggly lines or hashes? It will save lives in the long run by reducing teamsheet-induced epilepsy.

Team looks about right to me, I'd personally drop Gerrard back for Adam or Lucas (depending on opposition) and put Raul in the attacking midfield role.

If we could get the balance right, a midfield 3 of Gerrard, Adam and Raul - at least against weaker teams at home - would be incredibly difficult to defend against. All capable of making runs into the box, shooting from distance, picking an incisive pass and generally being impossible to pick up - not to mention having Suarez darting about all over the place and Dirk and Downing occupying the full backs.

I don't think Kenny will play Adam next to Lucas as some have suggested. Being an attacking midfielder, and as harsh as it will be to hear, I think Kenny sees Adam and Stevie G in very similar roles, with Adam eventually taking over Stevie's role as he gets older.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Kenny will surprise a lot of people and Henderson will be employed out wide on the right, complimenting Downing out on the wide left.

If fit, I think Andy & Suarez will start most games together.
