Also sorry if i missed anybody you seem to rate, these are just my opinions
Also there is still time for Dzeko ect to live up to the hype.

I know what you are saying, but what i want to know is what people truly class/define as world class. I have seen that phrase banded around about almost all of those players. Care to elaborate ?

Well the term 'world class' is massively overused. Using common sense I guess the phrase means the best, or one of the best, in the world in that position.

There aren't many players in the Premier League that you could really say that about.

I'd rather have G.Johnson who is by no means world class

Exactly,it's exceptionally over used, perhaps i didn't title this thread very well. What Players would you say are world class? Would you class Suarez as world class, for example ?

    Zanetti ?
    Alves ?

Because other than those i personally can't think of many better, or maybe that is just me.

I'd say he's going to be, he has 'world class' ability. If he performs at the same level this season as he did last season, it'd be hard to argue that he isn't world class. He just fulfills all the criteria.

    . Proven internationally.
. Proven in one of the 'Big 4' leagues.
. Does the business against the best sides domestically and internationally.

When I say he has 'world class ability', it's because in my opinion there is a difference between having world class ability and actually BEING world class.

its overused because there are simply so many players nowadays who play a very high standard of football, 10 years ago you could easily pick the best 11 in the world and there wouldnt be much dispute, however now it is almost impossible to do so as there are probably about 5-10 players in each position who in some peoples opinions would be the best in their position, so therefore pretty much all these players are branded as world class

    I'd agree with that.
Though i think that he will undoubtedly prove himself to be "World Class"
The Copa America has showcased him to the world and given him the attention he deserves.

The obvious missing name is Phillip Lahm who is right footed and prefers the right side although can play left as well.

World class does not have to mean the best 11 players in the world. It does not have to mean the best player in his position.

World class players are footballers who show a high level of excellence over an extended period of time under all conditions.

There are probably over a 100 players all over the world who are "world class".

These are players who are virtually undroppable, who when you choose your 23 man squad are the first ones chosen.

At the highest level you can't say one player is better then another when they excel in different areas.

If you look at goalkeepers you can see who the managers rate above others.

Pepe Reina is world class but I am not going to rate him as the top goalkeeper, he is just one of an elite group who have performed at a high level consistently.

If you think that "world class" should mean something else like the worlds top few players then you can just say Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta and maybe a couple of others are above everyone else but everyone has a different interpretation.

A great player is just a great player, I am sure many people are watching Manchester City now and they can see David Silva is "special". These are the players that give your team that little bit extra class.

It is a big world out here with an enormous amount of professional footballers, why shouldn't there be around 100 "great" players out there.

Yes, good points and not sure how i forgot Lahm but for some reason i always seem to think he is a left back though that is because the only time i see him play is for Germany and i watch very little Bundesliga.

All those in bold are close to being the top in their position, so should be considered world class

I really do believe that RVP is world class, just can't seem to stay fit and doesn't have the greatest attitude. To put it in perspective if he played for us everybody would say he was world class.

If he was less injury prone over the last few seasons then he is a shoe in, so many matches missed by someone so young isn't good, if he was to play a full season he would set the league alight

I'll admit Rooney was a push, guess was trying to be as unbiased as possible

Vidic is world class, not many CB's around today who are better than him

Robin van Persie is a world class striker as he is a great frontman but can play deeper, can play as a false nine and can play wide.

If you could guarantee an injury free season he would be a favourite for the top scorer in the Premier League. Van Persie is very highly rated by all experts but is simply injury prone and always needs time to get back to full fitness.

You can just look at his goalscoring record from last year. I would be willing to wager he had the best goal to minute ratio last year as he was injured for a long period of time.

Sadly on his day Rooney his world class (and i despise him) though i feel the reason many seem to question his ability me included (Not only because he is a Manc) is because of the way he is hyped by the media largely due to the fact that he is considered England's shining light. It has already started to happen with Wilshire and to a degree with Bale (Though he is welsh, but the british thing is still there) For instance, i am not disputing how good Rooney's goal was in the derby last season but how much coverage would it have recieved say had Rodallega scored it ? Not half as much.

overrated. 1 assist 7 goals doesn't make you pfa player of the year imo. Downing **** over that record last season.
