Dailymail - 'Itís too early for us to start talking about winning the league,' said Henry. 'In my opinion Manchester United are the ones to beat. They have a good squad, and look really good. Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League. If we donít it would be a major disappointment."
Technically, we did not spend more than £100m on transfers since January even though some may argue that we have to include the £58m spent on both Suarez and Carroll. Let's not forget the amount we get for Torres and Babel. After spending more than £45m in summer for the additions of Downing (£20m), Henderson (£16m), Adam (£9m) and Doni, the goal set by the owner is REALISTIC - qualifying for the Champions League rather than winning the Premier League!
All said, that does not mean Liverpool is surrendering early in the bid to win the title! Imo, Liverpool still has a very good opportunity to win it if we concentrate and pool our resources on the Premier League while blooding youngsters in both the FA and Carling regardless of the results. Apart from that, the signing of a good LB and a good CB will surely make a positive impact on the current team.
