Doubles Round One Update
RedCherries(4)/Shmar(5) 4.5 vs 5 SoontobeChampions(5)/LFCsince73(5)
The first tie saw long-term rivals SoontobeChampions and LFCsince73 paired together to face RedCherries and newbie Shmar. On this occasion, the experienced duo of STBC and LFCsince73 managed to overcome their rivals, averaging a score of 5 points in the process. RedCherries's below-average score of 4 points seems to have been the deciding factor in this match up, meaning that he and Shmar crash out at the first hurdle.
SinglishScouser(6) 6 vs 4 Baby1(N/A)/RotationPolicy(4)
Despite being the only player who wasn't paired with a partner, SinglishScouser demonstrated that he has the potential to win the title on his own. He got the joint highest score of the round to ease into the next round, after disposing of Baby1 and RotationPolicy. After failing to turn up, Baby1 was counting on RotationPolicy to get them through to the next round, but he couldn't come up with the goods and only managed 4 points. Who would've known what would've happened if Baby1 turned up this round.
Groovstar(5)/SonOfSid(5) 5 vs 5 Rianaldo(N/A)/HatrikBerger(5)
HatrikBerger/Rianaldo win on SD question by 1 point (20-19)
With Rianaldo away on holiday, it was down to HatrikBerger to try and drag himself and Rianaldo into the next round. There was barely anything between the two teams, and in the end, it actually came down to the Sudden Death question. All three players scored 5 points, but HatrikBerger was one goal closer than Groovstar and SonOfSid in the SD question, and therefore edged into the quarter-finals.
DudekWheresMyCar(6)/SirStiffler(4) 5 vs 5 Tuta(5)/Boston-Sox(5)
Tuta/Boston-Sox win on SD question (23.5-20.5)
In yet another tight-affair, this tie needed the SD question to separate both teams. Although he was another player to score 6 points, DudekWheresMyCar was let down by his partner, SirStiffler who could only muster a 4 point round, meaning that their average was 5 points. In comparison, both Tuta and Boston-Sox scored a consistent 5 point round, with Boston proving to be the deciding factor as he ensured that their average for the SD question was closer to the actual answer after he predicted 26 goals would be scored.
Cumbrian(4)/GunnerWinTheLeague(3) 3.5 vs 5.5 Tardelli59(6)/LucasLeiva(5)
In what was expected to be one of the ties of the round, Tardelli59 and LucasLeiva made light work of Cumbrian and GunnerWinTheLeague, scoring an average of 5.5 in comparison to 3.5. 3.5 was infact the lowest score across all players, after Cumbrian and GunnerWinTheLeague failed to perform to the best of their ability. Instead, the strong team of Tardelli59 and LucasLeiva progress into the quarter-final draw on the back of an impressive performance this round.
Jayfire(5)/DuffyWaldorf(6) 5.5 vs 5 JohnTheRed(5)/Tony(5)
In the sixth tie of the night, the highly-fancied team of 2010 champion Jayfire and newbie DuffyWaldorf scraped into the next round, eliminating JohnTheRed and Tony in the process. Jayfire posted a decent score of 5 points, but DuffyWalforf was clearly the player of the tie after scoring 6 points and this sealed their place in the next round. JohnTheRed and Tony will both feel quite disheartened with their efforts after they were dumped out, despite scoring consistent scores of 5 points each.
Hitmanlfc(6)/Shaggymoose(3) 4.5 vs 4 Jelly5id(5)/IDontBelieveIt(3)
In a match-up which included the current leader and the bottom two, only 0.5 separated both teams. So infact, it was unsurprising that it was the leader, Hitmanlfc who steered himself and Shaggymoose into the next round after getting a great score of 6 points, which made up for Shaggymoose's poor 3 point round. In comparison, IDontBelieveIt let down her partner, Jelly5id, after scoring just 3 points, bringing down the pairs average to just 4 points.
Madforit1(5)/Skidzy(N/A) 5 vs 5.5 NACNUD(5)/FinnanFOREngland(6)
Skidzy continues to inconsistently post, missing yet another round. This was crucial to his and Madforit1's hopes as they crashed out of the cup, despite Madforit1's best efforts. Instead, it's NACNUD and FinnanFOREngland who progress with FFE the crucial player after he posted a 6 point round to increase the teams average by an extra 0.5. In contrast, Madforit1's and Skidzy's quest for a trophy will have to go on, with the first ever Doubles Cup out of their reach.
The Teams Progressing into the next round are:
SoontobeChampions/LFCsince73
SinglishScouser
HatrikBerger/Rianaldo
Tuta/Boston-Sox
Tardelli59/LucasLeiva
Jayfire/DuffyWaldorf
Hitmanlfc/Shaggymoose
NACNUD/FinnanFOREngland

Review
Hitmanlfc's lead was cut in half as RedCherries continued to push hard for that elusive top spot. RedCherries has showed remarkable consistency this season and is still situated in the top few places. Despite cutting the gap, Hitmanlfc still holds a strong 5 point lead over his nearest challenger, although he could only manage 10 points in a high scoring week. Rianaldo slipped a place, yet is still only 9 points off the top. Two players who have been impressively recently are Jayfire and LFCsince73 who both had another great week to move up to joint 4th place and are within touch of taking the big step up to first place.
In comparison, Tuta slipped 4 places down to 6th, alongside Baby1 who also dropped a place, and Jelly5id who moved up the table yet again. Jelly5id has gradually recovered from a poor start, and is now in a great position to launch an assault on the top positions. Similarly, Cumbrian has made up for missing round 10 as he posted yet another consistent score of 17 points, but is sure to be ruing missing that round as he is only 14 points off the top, something which may have been achieved in that gameweek. Groovstar makes up the top 10 with 125 points.
One of the few players to maintain their position this week was -DudekWheresMyCar- who still sits in 11th place, closely followed by Tardelli59, SoontobeChampions and Madforit1. Tardelli59 and Madforit1 achieved impressive scores of 17 and 16 points respectively to surge a few places up the table. Meanwhile, SonOfSid and Boston-Sox still sit in mid-table, although Boston-Sox dropped a few places after an uninspiring 5 point round. He is closely followed by fellow Garcian, NACNUD as well as new player DuffyWaldorf. Skidzy rose above JohnTheRed and sits in a season-best 19th place, with JTR one behind.
In the bottom third of the table, we have Shmar who posted one of his best performances of the season with a 15 point round, and SinglishScouser who are tied in 21st position. Whilst they moved up, HatrikBerger and GunnerWinTheLeague headed in the other direction and dropped 4 and 2 places respectively. Both players are really struggling to generate any sort of momentum and are still loitering the bottom half. After being player of the week in round 11, FinnanFOREngland followed that up with yet another impressive score of 20 points and will continue to rise up the table if he can maintain that form. He is tied in 26th with SirStiffler who finally has something to shout about, after he scored a good 16 points.
For large parts of the season, IDontBelieveIt has been rooted to the bottom of the table. However, after two decent scores in a row, she is finally showing real potential and moved up the table yet again. Maybe this weeks highest scorer has finally found her lucky name! However, her climb was aided by the fact that none of the current bottom four players posted. LucasLeiva, RotationPolicy, Tony and Shaggymoose should all hang your heads in shame
Enjoy
