    Doubles Final Update

    Jayfire(0)/DarkStrike(0) 0 vs 0.5 SinglishScouser(0)/Boston-Sox(1)

As Liverpool were claiming victory this evening, SinglishScouser and Boston-Sox were completing their own cup upset as they claimed the first ever Doubles Cup! In a very low-scoring affair, it was actually Boston-Sox who made the huge difference as he was the only player to claim a point! As a result, himself and SinglishScouser averaged a score of 0.5 points compared to Jayfire's and DarkStrike's pointless tally. If our questions included extra-time, the outcome may have been different. But nevertheless, commiserations to Jayfire and DarkStrike, and congratulations to SinglishScouser and Boston-Sox!

    Review
With just 3 points separating the top 4, competition is getting fierce and it was Cumbrian this week who was the star performer out of the 4. He outscored all his rivals to move joint top with Madforit1 on 309 points. However, the gap between between top and fourth is still a mere points, with former champion Jayfire occupying that spot. Hitmanlfc is still sandwiched in 3rd place, although he slipped another place again this week.

Despite the gap between fourth and the rest of the pack, numerous players are still trying to attempt one final push to get into the thick of the action. Rianaldo, Tardelli59 and SoontobeChampions all outscored the top 4 to move ever so closer to their rivals ahead. There is now just 11 points between first and fifth! Rianaldo and Tardelli59 in particular have both been on a great run lately and it is no surprise that these two are now in the thick of the action.

In contrast, Jelly5id had a below average round to slip a place which also allowed Tuta to move closer to the GG Co-Ordinator. More important for Jelly5id though is that close friend Baby1 is now just 3 points off him, meaning their rivalry is going to last until the end of the season once again! Tuta's and Baby1's decent rounds meant LFCsince73 dropped out of the top 10 and now faces a huge battle to get himself back into it! He still holds a comfortably 9 point lead over Skidzy in 12th, meaning the final top 10 are probably going to come from only our current top 11 players.

Last years 3rd placed Skidzy still may have one final surge left in him as he aims to break into that top 10! He'll have to do much better than this weeks 10 point round though as he lost a lot of ground on the players above him. Unlike Skidzy, one player who is now coming into her stride is NACNUD who was this weeks POTR with an excellent score of 17 points. If she manages to keep up this form, a top 10 finish may be beckoning for the famous Garcian! Meanwhile, SinglishScouser returned to the game this week with a great score of 15 points. Had he posted regularly this season, he may have been competing at the top with the other title rivals.

With a number of players being dropped off the leaderboard this week, DarkStrike is now positioned just outside the top half, trailing SinglishScouser by a point. His good score of 14 points allowed him to move up a place to 15th this week, leapfrogging RedCherries in the process. Heading in the other direction was LightningLucas who plummeted 3 places. His average 10 point round, coupled with excellent scores around him was the catalyst for this drop! Just below him are FinnanFOREngland and Boston-Sox who moved up a place due to RedCherries' no-show, although both players managed to score reasonably well in gameweek 26.

Heading into the lower end of our table, HatrikBerger is still somehow clinging on to the top 20 spot, despite increasing pressure from GunnerWinTheLeague. Having knocked him out of the FA Cup and on the way to doing the same in Europe, Gunner is now starting to believe he can take HatrikBerger's 20th spot aswell. The gap was cut in half this week from 10 points to 5! 4ever's disastrous score of 2 points meant Shmar was able to move up a place despite a poor round himself. 4ever is now looking over her shoulder at former FA Cup winner SirStiffler who gained 7 points on her this week. Finally, Tony struggled again this week, following up last weeks score of 4 points with another mediocre score of 7 points. However, he still looks like he is going to avoid coming in last place as he sits 23 points ahead of SonOfSid who occupies bottom spot.

    Enjoy

    FA Cup Second Round Replay

    Tony 7 vs 14 Cumbrian
    (4 homes, 0 aways, 1 draw) - (3 homes, 4 aways, 1 draw)

The FA Cup's only replay saw Cumbrian coming out on top in a very comfortably victory in the end. He outscored struggling Tony by 7 points, meaning the current leader marches on to the next round as he seeks to collect his first ever trophy in the Pools Game. For Tony, he has European football left to concentrate on, as well as finishing as high as possible in the league, but he'll be bitterly disappointed to crash out at this stage of the competition.

The players going through to the next round are:
    SoontobeChampions
    GunnerWinTheLeague
    Jayfire
    Tardelli59
    LightningLucas
    Rianaldo
    Shmar
    Cumbrian

    Cheers for the update Droid.

Even despite being deducted 2 points, I had a SHOCKER of a round. I think if I'd have know the rules properly I would have picked some Championship matches which may have helped. 22 points off top spot is still achievable with more consistent scoring, but I'll be happy to finish in the top 10.

Doubles Cup Winners: SinglishScouser and Boston-Sox

    Congrats Boston sir and Singlish.

It would have been a different story though had I not ****** up the semi and turned up!

My apologies once again for that Droid.

Maybe you could "fix" the draw for next season so we get paired up again.
