    Review
Not one of the highest scoring rounds, but round 30 still played a huge part in this years title race! Following on from last weeks great performances, Hitmanlfc and Jayfire kept up that momentum as they gained even more points on the other contenders, Madforit1 and Cumbrian. Jayfire was actually the highest scorer between the top four, meaning he cut the gap to Hitmanlfc by an extra point, with the gap now at 6 points. The title is not yet out of the question for Cumbrian but he could do with an excellent next round. He now has 7 rounds to cut the 16 point gap! You have to say now that the momentum is well and truly with Hitmanlfc and Jayfire as we head into the latter stages.

Meanwhile, Tardelli bounced back from last weeks dreadful round with an excellent round, which gave him the honour of this weeks highest scoring player. This allowed him to move up 2 places and claim back 5th place. In truth, he easily moved up 2 places as SoontobeChampions and Rianaldo posted dreadful score of 5 and 3 points respectively. This has probably extinguished any glimmer of hope of making a last minute bid for the title. Rianaldo suffered slightly worse than STBC this week as Baby1 made the big move up to 7th position and is arguably now one of the most in-form players. Next up for him is STBC before he can make an assault on 5th place. Tuta also had a solid round to move up to joint 8th, making his top 10 place a bit more secure in the process.

It's been threatening to happen for weeks but Jelly5id's poor form has finally saw him slip out of the top 10, leaving LFCsince73 the occupant of that position. The two players either side of him, LFCsince73 and NACNUD, both had impressive rounds, with the latter now just 3 points off her Champions league opponent! The two players below her will also still have hope of making one last push as Skidzy and DarkStrike both also applied the pressure this week with 10 and 11 point rounds respectively. The duo are also on their way to securing a top half finish, with FinnanFOREngland 14 points adrift!

Heading deeper into the table, FinnanFOREngland leads the bottom half, despite producing the lowest score of the round. He was let off big time though as LightningLucas failed to post who consequently stayed in 15th. However, HatrikBerger has now pulled level with LL and is still surging up the table, having been around 20th all season! RedCherries was one of few players in the bottom half to remain in their position, despite failing to produce a decent round. The big mover however was Gunner who finally broke into the top 20 for the first time this season, just in time as we have only 7 rounds left. His good score of 11 points propelled him above SinglishScouser, Boston and Shmar, with the former clinging on top 20th place!

There is now quite a distance, 15 points infact, between Shmar and 4ever, therefore 4ever will have to produce some excellent rounds between now and the end of the season if she is to rise above 23rd. Having cut the gap last week, SirStiffler surrended more points to 4ever to leave himself 6 points behind the Garcian. He actually is effectively bottom of the league as the three below him fail to post frequently. Of the three, SonOfSid did turn up this week but his 7 point round didn't really have any impact on his position.

    Enjoy
So who's everyones tip for the title? Probably still out of the top four but an exceptional round by the few players below could see them in the title race!

Cheers for the update the other day Droid. Did better than I thought I had. Probs getting a little late for a title challenge, so will be happy with a top 10 finish.

Champions League Quarter-Finals First Leg Update

    LFCsince73 2 vs 3 GunnerWinTheLeague

Despite 7 points being on offer, players struggled to hit the big scores in the first leg. LFCsince73 for a while has had an intriguing rivalry with SoontobeChampions, but took on his brother Gunner this time round and again fell just short in the first leg. Gunner heads into the second leg 1 point ahead of the kiwim with his Chelsea prediction being the only difference between the two players! Although Gunner is the lowest ranked player left in the competition, he is still on course to completing a remarkable double. Will cup specialist LFCsince73 be able to overturn this first leg deficit or will Gunner march on?

    Tardelli59 1 vs 2 Hitmanlfc

In regards to rankings, this second tie was the biggest match of the quarter-finals, although you wouldn't think it based on their scores this round! In an underwhelming tie, current championship leader Hitmanlfc edged a point ahead of established Pools player Tardelli59, who is still looking for his first ever Pools title! He did however manage to superbly predict an away win for Bilbao but this didn't really help his bid to take this years main European title!

    Jelly5id 3 vs 3 NACNUD

Having disposed of close friend Boston-Sox in the previous round, NACNUD had a similar job as she came up against Jelly5id. Unlike last round however, NACNUD failing to take a first leg lead into the second leg, but the good news for her is that she didn't fall behind either. Both her and Jelly5id scored 3 points a piece, the highest score of the round, meaning there is no separating the duo after the first leg. This competition represents the last chance of a trophy for both players so the stakes are high as we go into next weeks 2nd leg!

    Madforit1 1 vs 2 RedCherries

The two highest scorers from the group stages came head to head, with RedCherries hoping to maintain his momentum from the previous round after he was the highest scorer previously. Despite Madforit1's superior position in the league, it was indeed RedCherries who maintained his assault in this competition and moved an extra point ahead of the title challenger. The only difference between the two players was actually the 2nd bonus question. With all ties still in the balance, we are in for an intriguing second leg next week, but only 4 players can make it through to the next round.

    Europa update probably tomorrow

Europa League Quarter-Finals First Leg Update

    SonOfSid 2 vs 3 FinnanFOREngland

Coming through on the back of a bye, SonOfSid came up with his first challenge of the knockouts, and he'll now to have make a serious effort in the 2nd leg if he is to go through to the semis. FinnanFOREngland scored a decent 3 points, including an excellent prediction for the AC Milan/Barca match, the only player to predict this correctly. Nevertheless, the lowest ranked player SonOfSid will still have hope of continuing his cup run as we head into next weeks 2nd leg.

    Tony 2 vs 2 DarkStrike

Next up, we had newcomer DarkStrike facing GG supremo, Tony. Despite DarkStrike's superior league position, there was no separating the pair as both scored an average 2 points out of 7, little surprise considering their answers were remarkably quite similar. With little else to play for in their season, both players will be looking at this cup run as an opportunity to claim their first ever piece of silverware.

    Skidzy 2 vs 4 LightningLucas

With all other ties hanging in the balance, LightningLucas is one player who will feel a bit comfortable going into next week, as he outscored Skidzy by 2 points. The highest score of the entire round actually came from LightningLucas as he scored 4 points. Established player Skidzy now faces an uphill task, and shouldn't be too downbeat about his performance, as he could well have been level if he had faced a different opponent this round.

    Jayfire 3 vs 1 Tuta

The two highest ranked players came face to face as former treble winner Jayfire took on another established Pools player, Tuta. Just like LightningLucas, Jayfire holds a strong 2 point leader over his rival, having secured a decent score of 3 points. Tuta's dismal effort of 1 point has meant that he will need to pull off an amazing recovery if he is to cling on to his hope of winning a trophy. The momentum is now well and truly with the title contender as Jayfire seeks to add more trophies to his collection.

    Review
With now just 6 rounds to go, former champion finally made his move and snatched top spot away from long-time leader Hitmanlfc. Jayfire's 13 point round easily outscored Hitman's, who was the rounds lowest scorer with a 4 point tally. As a result, Jayfire is now well on course in his quest to win his second pools league title! Despite threatening to tail off in the last few weeks, Madforit1 regained some form with a 13 point tally and this allowed him to cut the 10 point gap at the top to only 4 points! Cumbrian had another slightly disappointing round but only slipped a further point off the top. However, with Hitmanlfc struggling, this was probably Cumbrian's best chance of regaining some ground on the leader.

Tardelli59 is still hot on the heels of Cumbrian and moved ever so closer with the gap now at 4 points. His superb effort over the past month has gave him a real chance of finishing in the top four, which would represent another superb season for the experienced player. SoontobeChampions matched Tardelli59's score to remain in 6th place, right in the middle of a number of players who are looking for an excellent end to the season. Just below, Baby1 and Tuta posted decent scores of 12 points to make their top 10 places more secure and the duo may also still be dreaming of a top four finish. They'll be looking to beat last years finishes of 5th and 7th respectively.

Rianaldo and LFCsince73 remained just inside the top 10 but Jelly5id managed to bounce back this week and apply some real pressure on to the duo. His 10 point round moved him to within 3 points of LFCsince73, although he has a minimal chance of beating last years 4th place finish. Another player on a roll is newbie DarkStrike who leapfrogged NACNUD to move into 12th, and within touching distance of 10th spot. NACNUD, now finds herself in 13th place, sitting just in the top half, yet still holding a comfortable lead over Skidzy who failed to show. This means her poor 5 point round didn't have any real impact on top half status, although it may have affected her top 10 chances.

Meanwhile, Skidzy's no-show allowed a few of the chasing pack to move ever closer to last years 3rd placed player. FinnanFOREngland is the man closest to Skidzy but still lies 8 points adrift. After an impressive few weeks, HatrikBerger's form seems to have dipped again, only managing 5 points this time round, which game the rounds highest scorer GunnerWinTheLeague the chance to regain some ground. There are now just 3 points separating the two players, and Gunner is now threatening to get another one up on his rival having already knocked him out of two cups this year!

The next five players, LightningLucas, RedCherries, Boston-Sox, SinglishScouser and Shmar all failed to show in what was a disappointing turnout this week. Nevertheless, these no-shows were 4ever's gain as she moved closer to the quintet with an 8 point round. SirStiffler didn't make as much as an impact though as he was the rounds lowest scorer for the second week running. Finally, Tony's no-show meant SonOfSid again reduced the gap, with it now down to just 14 points.

    Enjoy
