Only the best will do
I was trying to think where our 1st XI needs stregnthening. Not many places it seems. Who should we get to fill the ??????'s if we are only to only accept top top quality to have the best 1st XI in the league?

We don't need a new centre back.
For us only a striker can sort out all problems for us.
Any further additions will definitely strengthen our squad ,but striker is top priority.

Agree Carra, Skrtel and Coates are all decent so CB is not a priority. I do not see them at the same level as Agger though (when fit).
Striker is a priority, but looking at our 1st team Vs. Man Ure's, the only place they are better than us is out wide, however they are so much higher in the league than us. So I would argue this is still an important place to improve as well.
And Re Lucas, when he gets back, yes I would say that is an area we don't need to strengthen.
This. Our defence is fine. We need a striker.

We must look at more flair players than what we currently have.....Also PACE, nit quick players but players that are quick with the ball...i.e Cisse was quick but not with the ball...looking at someone Robben, Messi, Ronaldo...these type of players.... Obviously we could not afford the above...
My suggestions are both viable financially and adds huge amount of pace!

I agree that only the best will do, now that we know our owners will fund high cost transfers. There is no point bringing in players who could not command a first team spot, unless they are 'impact' players on loan maybe.
We have good squad depth and quality with plenty of good youngsters coming through. What we need now are game changers.
However we all know that this window is notoriously difficult and often represents poor value. If we could add some real quality down the right and get a top notch striker then that's all i'd be looking at myself. Kenny has stated he is happy with the midfield options and I agree with that and I think Skrtel and Agger have established a fantastic partnership so there is no need to break that up.
Disagree. I think Skrtel has earned a spot in the starting XI but Carragher should retire at the end of the year and that leaves us needing a 3rd choice CB. A 3rd choice CB really needs to be just as good as the 1st and 2nd choice options due to how frequently Agger and CB's in general get injured.
I also think it's somewhat of a mistake to assume Gerrard is a fixture in the starting XI. He miss nearly a year of football and is on the wrong side of 30. I'd hardly call him reliable at this point.
If I had my way, we'd look like this:

DEF: Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
DM: Lucas - S. Bender
AM: Honda - Gerrard - Jovetic
ST: Suarez
Bench: Doni, Kelly, Howedes, Henderson, Adam, Doumbia, Bellamy
I'd loan Coates out for a year. Sell Downing, Kuyt, and Maxi.

50m could get Hazard and Cavani.
Like this a lot. Doubt they would come, but what a team!
Could sell any/all of Aurelio, Kuyt, Maxi (as he never gets a game), Aquilani, Cole, Eccleston or Carroll to help fund this.
