The point is that everybody is different, and it's down to the experienced doctors and fitness staff to assess each player individually. At the end of the day, if the fitness staff say he needs to be protected, you don't have the credentials to question them. Even if you did, you don't examine Raheem after every game. I would never try to argue with a specialist in their field. It would make me seem dense.
I agree we dont want to throw him in the deep end just to turn out like alot of young stars in the later stages of their career (ala Owen and Gerrard) however 10-20 minutes every other game is not going to harm him in the long run, starting him every match and relying on him as the main attacking force in our side will though.

todays game was ideal for sterling, exactly what we need some pace breaking up the villa defence, instead we did the hokey pokey

I don't see the point of giving him a 10 minute taster against Wigan, him looking promising and then sending him back to the reserves and not involving him again.

very disappointed not to see him at least on the bench, his pace is what we lack on the wings and can take on players unlike Kuyt.

This is what I was thinking when I saw the subs earlier. Don't give him a taster if you aren't going to put him on the bench again ESPECIALLY when he impressed in the game against wigan and THEN against Villa's reserves.

If he isn't on the bench against rovers I see Dalglish has lost his plot

With the current situation (with nothing to fight for in the league, except our pride), we should anyway let all the youngsters have a chance in the remaining league games. And then save the big boys for our two FA Cup games (as I expect us to reach the final).

Let the likes of Sterling, Coates, Jonjo, Spearing (and maybe also Suso and Morgan) be regular starters for the last few games. Ending in 7th or 10th doesn't really matter now.

Sorry for old Dirky but that was possibly the worst performance I have seen him put in, I would rather have had Brad Jones there than him, let alone Sterling.

    Yes I agree!

Also check this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46g3iav_nu8. Jamie Redknapps Premier League liverpool XI. Yeah Michael Owen core blimey!

Also we should buy Fernando Llorente and dump Carroll.

I would also say look we have won the carling cup could also win the fa cup. Yeah premier league form is s*** but arsenal still no trophy and not going to win the champions league next season and man city looks like they will be without a trophy.

Kenny has only been back 1 year so to question what he has done is quite sad imo. Only Carroll is the biggest flop. Henderson is a good player downing and adam but lucas has been a big miss for us. Next season is when the league form should be looked at. Also we are in the Europa League so the league position doesnt matter now.

Lets see if we win the fa cup then that qualifies us for the community shield.

Then I think Kenny will really be focusing on the league as a priority.

In the summer a goalscorer needs to be found. Ship out Carroll I think and keep bellamy and suarez and maybe ship out Kuyt as well. Llorente I like because he scores goals and also against manu.

    +1,000,000

I've been preeching this for a while - what on earth is the benefit of playing the same players who got us here.

We're in a really unique position to try new players, and new tactics, when the results don't matter.

Playing Carra ahead of Coates, I just don't get. Even if Carra was better, it makes no sense either. Coates is our future, Carra is not.

Gerrard is world class and has been world class for a very long time. I agree Owen faded in the later stages of his career but you cannot say that about SG!

On another note I hope Raheem comes on and scores!!!!

Not faded quality wise, but the recuring injuries is a worry.

While I fully agree sterling is an amazing talent, and I'm glad he got on against Wigan, and did well. I can see what dalglish is doing. He has been involved in the squad a few times but not on the bench.. He has been training with the first team for a bit. I fully agree with kenny that he shouldn't be rushed in. He is a young lad and while we're struggling he doesn't want people thinking he is the answer and putting more pressure on him. Kenny knows how to deal with him best. So, whilst it may be frustrating for you all, be patient, his time will come.

But we are struggling when it doesn't matter. Now is the absolute most risk free time, not next season when we are in the hunt and don't want to take chances

After the semi final he'll get his chance.

Right now Kenny wants to be fair to his first team and wanted to give them every opportunity to stake a claim for a Cup Semi Final spot. He played Flannagan last night, Kelly injured Johnson not full fit with that in mind.

With Adam out he's given Shelvey an opportunity. In all fairness he has to give Downing and Bellamy opportunities and he has done.

Once that's decided, he'll start or bring Sterling on in the remaining games provided the lads attitude is right. You don't reward poor attitude with a start no matter how good but all being equally i'd expect him to see action last couple of games no pressure not while people are fighting for places at wembley.

A similar thing happened Roy Evans last season. An electric Michael Owen was kept back until end of the season. He was actually given an opportunity away from home so not to put too much pressure on him and the fact your opponents attack is best opportunity to give an exceptionally quick player.

Norwich away would be perfect. They attack down flanks and often leave full backs exposed, they go forward at home, you'll get decent possession thats where i'd start him.

His camp have publicly been making noises he's unhappy at not getting an opportunity, so we're lead to believe. That's why I said 'if' he has a poor attitude you can't always trust the press.

Though that permitting he'll get an opportunity before the end of the season hopefully when pressure off and we're in final.

Kenny's played Flannagan, Robinson, Spearing, Kelly, Shelvey in the Premier League no reason why he'd not give Sterling a shot should he deserve it.

In terms of his age in relation to the average life expectancy of a human or are we talking more philosophically?

As part of our requirements this summer, we need to in various positions; striker, 2 wingers, creative/goal-scoring midfielder, back up holding midfielder and a backup goalkeeper to push Reina.

In order to solve the winger position I say let Sterling play and he can solve one of our problems and in a VITAL position we require without spending anything!!!!

Because Michael Owen was so good, when he broke into the team that he blew everyone away because he was an exceptional talent. Sterling gives me the same impression as our Owen, a young star with lighting quick speed, both small and is fearless and could make a big impact if given a run. If hes good enough, let him play! we saw that with Owen despite being so young and small but he blew away defences and Sterling can do the same!

He could very well be the answer, but there is always the danger of throwing in too early.

History shows that for every Owen or Rooney, there have been a hell of a lot more that failed after being brought in at a young age.

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens with young Sterling, hopefully he will shine.

As much as I'm loving the enthusiasm, do you not think it's a bit too much of a risk to go this summer without buying a winger and throwing Sterling in hoping he can be the soul answer?
Would be pretty wreckless, I think we should definitely buy someone and blood him in much more often next season.. If he proves to be better than someone like Downing then keep him in there and we have the problem solved fingers crossed

I would like to see Stirling in the GB Team for the Olympics to get more first team experience before the start of next season. In fact I would like to see other stars such as Suso playing in the Olympics!
