Yeh, I always thought the acquired taste stuff was a load of crap. After necking so many pints of Carlsberg in my time I still didn't like the stuff any better (I don't dislike it.. it's just ok to me). But yeh Guiness definitely was an acquired taste for me. I think beer is probably a mixture of both required and acquired taste.
I am negging you right now. When the rep system is reactivated, you will have 8 red boxes.
Yip, it is certainly an acquired taste, more so than anything else. I'm actually a bit of a disgrace, I honestly can't think of one alcoholic beverage I don't like, but they were all love at first sight, whereas Guinness was love at 3rd or 4th sight![]()
Kronenbourg and Stella are my choice out of a can. Don't know a thing about tap beers though.

Skol has never been boss.
Schorschbock
A pub in my town sells a lager on draught called Dortmunder. It's on of the few lagers still available at 5% abv and it tastes really nice. I can't drink too much of it at that strength though.
Peroni, Becks or Staropramen.
Anyone remember Hoffmeister?:

The best alcoholic beers/lagers I have had are :
Kronenburg - like Stella but smoother and doesn't stay with you and make you feel lousy in the morning
Boddingtons - very nice
Others are much of a muchness, Fosters can be "safe" if you do drinking in any great volume. I remember when I was a kid my dad (rest his soul) sent me to Tesco to get his beers for him and introduced me to lager and lime, Norseman lager to be precise. Not sure the combi would work with a lot of lagers, but that combi did - and at that age a nice intro to the delights of lager
Coors
Guinness
Old Peculiar
Hoegaarden
Blue moon
Tuborg
Lets not get started on Ciders I LOVE CIDERS
Hmm, depends really....Carlsberg is the standard issue, but if I'm in a pub that serves a few decent beers I'm likely to have an Erdinger or Warsteiner.
There's a pub in Dublin, the porterhouse, that do their own brews and have had a few lovely ones down the years. I like going in there during the day wjhen It's quiet and you can have a waffle with the barman and be all beer-snobby trying a few different ones.
Lets be honest, most of the ones mentioned in this thread are gash: Carlsberg, Fosters, Heineken etc....and BUD? Jesus, I'll never understand how/why people drink it.
Carling does indeed taste like ****.
Carlsberg or Kronenberg are my 'standard' orders on draft if there's nothing else, altho I've been known to order Fosters in desperation. Peroni is another decent one to order on tap, favourite is Coors - but coming a very very close second is Efes (altho you can't get it on draft in this country) and Orangeboom.
Heineken is a weird one, don't like the taste of it over here but can drink it in Europe![]()
Currently Loweswater Gold - although Barngates' Tag Lag is a decent shout.
