I'd really like to see sterling get some time, downing on the left sterling on the right, despite downings goal him and maxi were terrible on opposite wings at stoke. Think we need to free up Suarez more rather than freeing Gerrard, because Suarez isn't the best finisher but has danced past every defence he's played against and when he does that he frees everyone else up, so if he has more space the team will have more space

Wtf? He's scored 3 league goals all season, that's not "fine" for a number 9.

    League game.

    Don't care.

We'll be progressing, or tired, or some such *****, after being beaten.

Well I must be watching a different Number 9.. Andy Carroll has not done what he was bought to do, hence why he is often left out on the bench, and putting him in the team means we start the long ball game up to him, he tries to head it on, which mostly comes to nothing, he lacks skill on the ball, speed, and even from 6 yards can miss the target, surely if you are training however so many hours a week, you should be able to place a small round object towards a very large net.... yes its as simple as that. Phil Taylor does`nt miss the treble by 3 ft and its a lot smaller than a goal.

Unbeaten in 9 when Andy has started
Not won in 7 when he hasn't

    sports direct arena

we've lost 5 of the last 6 games we've played, if the league started on january 1st we'd be 19th, next up? Newcastle away from home, not ideal, but we are liverpool, and if there's something we've learnt from this time, however frustrating they may be, it's the fact they know how to turn up when its a big game... We still have newcastle in our sights (i'm not sure how given our 2012 form), it's going to be tough but sometimes i have more confidence in this team when put in circumstances such as this as opposed to circumstances like saturday.

    prediction: 1-1 ba, gerrard

    statistics

newcastle united have averaged 1.5 goals per game at home in the league this season
liverpool have averaged 1.3 goals away from home in the league this season.

last 5 meetings between the sides

    liverpool 3-1 newcastle
    liverpool 3-0 newcastle
    newcastle 3-1 liverpool
    liverpool 3-0 newcastle
    newcastle 1-5 liverpool

liverpool's last 5 in the league

    liverpool 1-2 wigan
    qpr 3-2 liverpool
    liverpool 3-0 everton
    sunderland 1-0 liverpool
    liverpool 1-2 arsenal

newcastle's last 5 in the league

    newcastle 1-0 norwich
    arsenal 2-1 newcastle
    newcastle 1-1 sunderland
    newcastle 2-2 wolves
    tottenham 5-0 neecastle
speeks for itself to save any further embarrassing results kenny must ensure that we come back with a win and ensure that we have a side on the pitch that can win ,ive seen where some people are predicting that we get a lot of youth on the pitch thats a disaster waiting to happen, get real

i have just read that downing is saying that the team is up for the battle at newcastle this week end ,i find that really odd as he has the heart of a mouse when we have been under pressure tip toes around trying to convince everyone he is worthy of the shirt but for me is weak in will and weak in quality he needs to stop talking a start playing

all i want to see next time is some desire. The lack of heart is driving me mad...

My expectations for this game are the following:

    1. I expect us to field 11 men with 7 on the bench.
    2. I expect Newcastle to field 11 men with 7 on the bench.

Beyond that, it's up in the air. If I had to make a score prediction, 1-1 with Ba scoring for the Toon and Suarez scoring for us.

Yeah, cause the dart isn't in his absolute control, only eight feet away less lean and reach, the board doesn't have people in the way trying to stop him hitting the target and I'm guessing Phil Taylor covers less ground in a week than a footballer does in 90 minutes

Anyone calling Darts a "sport" wants shooting, comparing football to that and snooker, well that's as bad

When they can't do it on the pitch they have to talk it up off it. I bet he felt he had to say something given his former club (boro)

Andy Carroll needs good service into his feet in the 6 yard area and regular good! crosses into the box and obviously all season he hasn't had it, All they do is lump the ball up to him and he is not that sort of player, he isn't Heskey. If he was at Man Utd he would of scored between 15-20 league goals by now, Kenny is using him in the wrong way thats the problem.

I don't see how, he's played his best games under pressure, in the cup final, winner against Stoke to get us into the semi's etc. I reckon he's gonna score next week against Villa.

No. If he was at Man Utd he'd be on the bench and wouldn't score half the goals you said he would.

Good to see Wisdom, Flanno, Robinson and Sterling all training. Would like to see Wisdom given a run out as even though Kenny said he didn't want to risk injuring Sterling, Wisdom is a bit of a henchman.

Also not sure if it is just me but a lot of the players look really serious in a lot of the pictures so hopefully they go out and grab a win.

Very confident of a win here, no idea why based on our recent form. Sterling on the bench again too please.

    Yep

    Pardon?
    Like really?

Andy Carroll hardly ever gets into the 6 yard box, I've seen balls flashed across there from Downing and no one is on the end of them. He NEVER makes the runs he needs too, but hopefully that will eventually come to him but to say he needs good service into his feet in the 6 yard box when the lad is never in there is stupid. The fact is we seem to win when Andy starts and that's all that matters. His hold up and linking play has improved which means he creates space for other players by drawing defenders away, he occasionally makes good runs but also has a tendency to dwell around the 18 yard box instead of bursting to the near post (Cardiff).

    If Bellamy is fit:

    -----------------Doni---------------
    Flanno--Skrtel--Coates--Enriq
    ------------Spearing-------------
    -----Gerrard------Shelvey------
    Bellamy----Carroll------Suarez

Subs: Reina, Carra, Sterling, Downing, Kuyt, Maxi, Wisdom

    If Bellamy isn't fit:

    -----------------Doni---------------
    Flanno--Skrtel--Coates--Enriq
    -----Spearing----Gerrard-------
    Downing----Shelvey----Suarez
    ----------------Carroll-------------

Subs: Reina, Carra, Sterling, Hendo, Kuyt, Maxi, Wisdom

Reina deserves to be dropped. Might make him buck up his ideas. Flanno because I think Kelly and Johnson are still injured. Might even change the last formation to push Gerrard further up too, who cares if we lose so let's just go for it- try and entertain the fans for the first time in a while.

    I think kennynwill play....

    Flanno --- cara ---- skrtle ----- Enrique
    ----------- spearing -- Steven ----------
    Henderson ----- Carroll ------ downing
    ---------------- Suarez -----------------

But I'd like to see Kuyt or maxi on the right, Bellamy their if fit, and I'd LOVE to see Carroll play on the shoulder of the last man and suarez in the hole instead

It's my birthday today. The last time my birthday was on a weekend was when Crouch scored a hattrick against Arsenal in a 4-1 win. Be nice if Andy Carroll could do something similar at his old (newly named) hunting ground.
