It's clear that this squad isn't good enough but let's be realistic - we won't be selling everyone and bringing in sixteen new faces this summer. With that in mind, who should we keep out of our pretty mediocre squad?

    Out
    Adam - no explanation needed.
    Carroll - ditto.
Maxi - controversial? He's never going to be first team though, and is thus a waste of wages. I would personally be happier if Sterling had his place in the squad. I'm not blaming him at all for our current woes though.
Aurelio - like I need to explain?

    Stay
Henderson - gets so much stick but he is only young and has been played out of position for most of this season. He is extremely cautious though and is very frustrating. Should be used like we have used Spearing, not starting every ****** game.
Downing - hasn't been the best but hasn't been the worst either. He can look sharp sometimes, I think we should keep him but we definitely need other wing options.
Kuyt - yeah he's not everyone's cup of tea but has still produced some moments of magic for us in the cup games. He might not be happy with being a squad player though, and that's what he'll be so he might well move on in the summer.
Coates - has looked a pretty mixed bag. Needs more time definitely.

The worrying thing is, who could we realistically sign to improve the squad if we did the necessary spring cleaning..?

Kuyt and Downing need to go if we want to become a better side.

On football manager aye. In reality, there is no way we're selling everyone. Kuyt and Downing are pretty much our only wingers, most teams have four wingers. Keep them and buy two more who are better. At least one anyway.

The only players I'd consider getting rid of are Aurelio, Maxi, Adam and Kuyt. Carra if he can't handle being on the bench.

I like Maxi, but there's obviously something going on behind the scenes as he never plays, and I don't think Dirk likes to be here as a bit part player, and he is in no way good enough to start every game. Fabio is made of glass and Adam... just hasn't quite cut it. Good squad option though.

What about Carroll though? I know he's young too and could improve, it's just that he's wearing our number nine shirt! If he cost 5 million and was number 27 then ok, but he cost us 35 million and was supposed to be our main striker. If we bought a new focal point of the team I think him sitting on the bench would be a constant stick with which the media could batter us with. Also he's a bit moody and I doubt is good for the team spirit. I would just cut my losses personally.

Was at the game yesterday, and i felt we certainly miss the attacking prowess of Johnson and the quality of Agger, but i felt our midfield were found wanting.
I hate to say but i dont believe Spearing and Henderson are good enough for first 11, Kuyt loses possesion too many times, we have to buy more creative players in offensive positions and natural goalscorers.
On a positive note i feel Sterling can become a major player for us over the years to come, but yesterday, we lacked invention, pace, energy and quality, too many players were off the pace.
Yes tiredness was a big factor but then its down to management to mix things up and lets try to bed in some more youth, we looked old and tired and that hurts me to say this.

    i would flog...

carroll. reason not good enough to play at the top level never mind lfc.
maxi not the worst player we got but i think hes time is up.
joe cole looks like he will go somewhere in the summer, maybe a swap deal and cash could be the best option.
aqualani should tie up ac millan deal in summer hopefully
henderson we dont need him we got shelvy who imo is a better player
    aurelio to injury prone
downing never been a fan of, only plays well when he feels like it and clearly not good enough to take us onto next level

If we have a better choice than Kenny, we should start from him. But I doubt that profile of a manager will come.

We're talking players, not manager. I think that is being discussed enough already.

I will be extremely shocked if Carrol is still here at the start of next season. I just do not see him fitting in with LFCs style of play and for him to not even be getting much game time despute being are biggest ever signing for me says it all. I think he will be sold for at least a 20m loss TBH.

Maxi will probably be given a free. As will Aureilio

cant see much else happening TBH, although i do worry a almost impossible offer to refuse will be made for Suarez, which we may see the sense in accepting as the money he would bring would get us another 2/3 players. (i dont want him to be sold though) its just the way i could see the club doing it.

We will make at least 15-20m in sales but could be be anywere between 45-55m if Suarez does get sold and will probably have 15-20m on top of sales

    Adam
    Kuyt

    Definitely

Even Rafa would have replaced Kuyt by now

Only Adam, and then Downing and Carroll have until January to prove it or lose it.

Henderson has some ability but we've seen it's too early for him mentally.

Enrique should also be a bench player. Really, really poor in the final third; its actually holding us back a bit and he's nowhere near the Spain squad at the moment. Think he's only defensively solid because of his pace and strength. Fantastic back up left back though.

If there was a list ranking our worries, Enrique in the final third would be way way down the list

    Out:

    Carroll
    Henderson
    Downing
    Kuyt
    Reina

Maxi and Aurelio will be out of contract.

I can see the argument for Carroll, Downing and Kuyt. Henderson I cannot

I just want us to get another winger so there's no more of him being played out of position.

Because he is useless. He has no impact on games, he has no flair and he is a passenger, even Dalglish is hooking him now his performances are so poor.

Kuyt is 31 is career is dwindling. He's been great for the club and still gets the odd important goal but we need better, overall his performances have been woefull for a long time. The fact he says if he doesn't get more football he will leave but then when given the opportunity gives an abysmal performance is amusing. We are too nostalgic we put up with a lot for minimal paybackand hang on too long through loyalty. I'd sell kuyt and downing, Bellamy ( he can't play enough ) I'd sell carrol but we really will make such a huge loss we may aswell just keep hold and see if he remembers he's a footballer. It does worry me a little we won't recover from just how bad our signings have been.

I think riena will leave in the summer but not because the club wants rid. I wouldn't sack Kenny but then I don't have much faith in his or commolis player choices. Rock and a hard place. We really need to take a long look at our scouting network too.

Why is Adam not on your list?

You would get rid of Downing ahead of Adam?

I'd keep the likes of Paul1971, Fowi, Dom, LJoC, Mickey etc, and get rid of the likes of Huntelaar, gedzredz, Snipes etc.

His performances have been deteriorating over the past two seasons and he has lost us a fair few points this season.

    2 years?

I though it was just this year.

And even then, hard to get better, even than he's playing now.

But, if he wanted to go, it might not be the hammer blow it once would have.

Him costing us points has probably been significantly affected by the fact we don't score any goals. If we scored more goals, his mistakes wouldn't have been as costly. Look at that muppet united have got between the sticks and they're top of the league. I think you're being overly harsh on Pepe - he's a legend!

Strange way of looking at a goalkeeper's performance.

This may not appeal to everyone, so thoughts would be nice.

    Sold

Adam- Clumsy, slow, bad defensively and inconsistent. For every hollywood pass, there are needless fouls given away and balls played straight out for a throw.

Carroll- I wouldn't be gutted if he stays, still think the lad has potential and can forge a partnership with Luis. However, it seems he is on his way out, doesn't really fit in with our flowing play, and Kenny isnt playing him.

Maxi- Never plays, certainly not our worst player, but needs to go for his sake.

Aurelio- Injured too much, end of contract and has already told a member of this board he's leaving.

Reina- Only if he wants to go. In my opinion still a top class keeper, just going through a blip.

    Loaned (PL clubs)

Shelvey- Give him game time or loan him out. This boy looks the business, says the right things, good attitude and good play. Take a leaf out of Arsenals book with Wilshire and send him to Bolton.

Sterling- Maybe a season too soon for Raheem, although it sounds as though he's hankering for some PL football. Send him too a club that plays attractive football with a manager who is responsible with youth. If there is no manager we can trust then keep him here for more cameo performances.

Wilson- Apparently playing well for Blackpool, we need to get him some PL time or move him on. Hopefully Blackpool come back up to the Premier League and they take a few more loanees to us.

I know I'm probably going to get battered for saying this but looking at the stats, Charlie Adam has had 10 assists this season! that is a lot considering the lack of goals, maybe we are underestimating a bit
