Reserve goalie must be one of the hardest positions to fill. You want someone with quality and experience in case anything happens to Pepe, but most good keepers wont be happy to sit on the bench all season. Luckily, its also tended to be one of the most irrelevant positions too, as Pepe is pretty much never injured.

He is actually a better keeper than that.

We took about giving younger players some game time now, id give Doni some game time aswell, Reina could do with being dropped for a few games tbh.

I wouldnt feel so good about myself as a back up goalie under Kenny..imagine watching other teams in the Carling Cup playing their second string and then you look at yourself not being picked. That says "the manager doesn't want me here".

Agree 100% i don't feel Reina ever fears in getting dropped. In my opinion his performances this season in the league have not been great, too many mistakes.

Seeing as we have nothing to play for in the league & Reina needs a bit of a wake up call i really hope Kenny gives Doni at least 3 or 4 league games.

I would assume Doni knew what he was in for when he signed up - a lot of money to do sweet FA because Reina has not relinquished that first team start in years regardless of the competition, so Doni would have known he would be lucky to get 2 or 3 games a season unless he was hoping Reina got injured. It seems a very difficult role, backup keeper, it pretty much demands that the person rarely if ever plays but when they do they need to be in top form and it would be hard either as a seasoned journeyman or as young keeper to fill that role and miss playing time. Although presumably a reserve keeper could be used and play on in reserves whilst warming the bench for the first team because of the rarity that Reina misses a game. But knowing our luck if we did that Reina would suddenly get a season long injury and we would be up **** creek.

Cheers bud, been wantin to say my bit for a while, glad to see so many positive posts in support of my suggestions, Maybe we could ask Real to do a swap deal, Downing for Ronaldo plus give them 12.5 mil. I think Ronaldo may struggle to live up to expectations next season at Real and a move here is just right for both clubs.

I know he use to play for scum, but he wanted to get away from them badly and so that goes in his favour.

Dont get me wrong if Real wont go for that then offer a few more quid.
