I liked the episode even though it was a slower one.

    Yep it sure will

Although the pace of the episode was quite slow I think they had to do that due to introducing the new characters. To me, having read the books it felt a little (just a little) rushed, some of what happened in this first episode doesn't happen till nearly 1/4 of the way through the 2nd book, but that's to be expected when you try to fit a 1000 page book into ten episodes.

I think they did a good job of cutting out the plot parts they chose. They only have 10 episodes, there will need to be edits.

Good episode to tee things up, it'll need a rewatch before next week though.

    Check out this awful review from John Crace in the Guardian, he's getting rightfully slated in the comments below;

    Strange review that.

"I never saw the first season, but I'm complaining because I had no idea what was going on in the show. So much so to the point that I can't even pick out the main characters of the narrative."

"Also, I hate fantasy and sci-fi. So I automatically will not like this."
Does the phrase "mailing it in" exist in the UK?

no it doesn't, urban dictionary does though...

    1. mailing it in 78 up, 8 down
Slang for doing the least amount of work possible or slacking off.
...and i have to agree with the sentiment

Yeah that's pretty accurate. Our team has really been mailing it in the last few games.

This guy mailed it in badly in his review. I'm surprised he even dared publish it.

Our teams been mailing it in so much they could all get employed by the Royal Mail.

This reviewer is a grade A berk, how he can be a TV critic beggars belief, he'd be better suited for one of the tabloids with this garbage.

This season is getting extremely good...I think from episode 5 onwards it'll be amazing. So many awesome things happen!

Recently finished the 2nd book and started the 3rd. Can't get enough of them. I'd recommend the books to anyone who watches the show; the books are even better!

The 3rd book is by far the best of all the books.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of it at the end.

My housemate says the exact same thing about the 3rd book too. I'm on part 1 at the moment, and already there have been some very good scenes. He says part 2 is amazing.

I'll make sure to post my thoughts afterwards

I really enjoyed episode 8, though it was very much a 'set-up' episode for the things to come in the final 2. I thought some things would be a bit closer to be resolved, particularly Daenerys, but that's from having read all the books.

It's markedly different from the books, unlike season 1 which was almost scene for scene, so it's taken a bit of getting used to. I'd love to see an interview with Weiss and Benioff (producers responsible for getting ASOIAF into tv) explaining the decisions behind certain deviations from the book, especially concerning some characters who only exist in the series.

Hasn't one of the major plot lines almost at a point where the actors within that plot are not required based on what happened in the Clash of Kings. There are 5 major plot lines to resolve though.
