Get real hamfield,we were drawing games even when he was around. He wouldn't have turned our draws into wins.It would have been the same miserable season now except with less defeats.

It's the management fault for not getting creative players for the left, right wing and CAM positions.

What will win the them the league is 1 player and that is Paul Scholes.

Same is with Beyern Munich Shwinshtiger everyone in Germany said his injury was bad for their form.

MF player is a key roll we had 2 SG & Lucas missing most of the season.
Toni Kroos, Luis Gustavo Dias, David Alaba, and Anatoliy Tymoschuk.

Bayern have dropped just 4 points in 8 games since Schweinsteiger's injury.

As the OP says, our lack of quality DM has had a negative effect on our forward play.

You do realise that you have already replied to this thread, in seeming agreement, suggesting Diarra as an option????

Sorry RossMosh but non of them did the job.

Thought it was 2009 for a second their.
Obviously we have missed Lucas but we were fine unroll we lost Agger. Played some good football too. I think Coates looks the business but I don't think he is suited to playing alongside Skrtel and Carragher just isn't suited to first team football anymore. Would've liked to have seen Kelly given a go in the middle.

They struggled at first but as I've mentioned, recently they've coped with his loss. That's because they have a quality bench. When you lose a key player you always expect to struggle a bit at first because the whole team has to make adjustments. We struggled at first and now we've fallen to pieces. See the difference? Even with adjustments and playing different players we haven't come close to coping with Lucas' loss. Add in Agger's and Johnson's injury issues and you'd think we were Wigan with the number of points we're getting.

4 points dropped in 8 is impressive. In comparison we have 4 points in 8 games.

Big club mentality vs small club mentality.

A fit Lucas this term and we would of seen much better and consistent performances from Adam, Gerrard, Henderson. You could even include our full backs and wide men in there too.

The shield Lucas has grown to provide allows the likes of Adam and Gerrard to not have to look over thier shoulder. Simply knowing that a holding midfielder of Lucas's quality and discipline is enough to allow our more attack minded players to flourish.

Would we of seen a more direct Enrique, like he was at Newcastle? I think so.

Would of seen more serging runs from Gerrard? I think so.

Would we of seen less of Adam clipping people's heels when chasing back and more of his attacking freedom we saw at Blackpool? I think so.

In short, as soon as you can Lucas, get back in the gym, then back on that training ground.

    You have been sorely missed.
Was thinking the same thing myself - we were flying high when he was in the side and things started going wrong soon after his injury. I hope they make finding a similar DM a priority this summer so we don't get caught out again.

We've lost 6 of our last 7. 9 games in total since he got injured. Having him instead of, say, Adam/Spearing would've saved us at least four of those, I reckon. And let's be honest, the QPR debacle would never have happened with Lucas in the team. Plus Lucas, unlike some of our players now, is actually mentally strong and wouldn't have given up when the going gets rough.

He was doing two jobs before he got injured, he was our main defensive mid, and our main playmaker.

People don't realise how good Lucas is on the ball, he was making us tick like a clock work. Every top team has a player who sets the right tempo for the team and Lucas was that man, so is it any wonder after he got injured we are less settled on the ball as a whole team.

I blame Kenny. Lucas never got a chance to recover, he got injured in the carling cup and Kenny never rested him.

    This ^^^

IMHO anyone who doesn't realise this really doesn't understand the game of football. Ask any intelligent Arsenal fan about Gilberto Silva and they'll tell you the same.

It wasnt that long ago that Lucas would be getting blamed for this season.
