Not the greatest yet, but Tom Hardy is in a lot of very good films, and has been brilliant in them all.

Everyone know di Niro and Pacino would be in there, but I'm surprised at how long it took people to praise the likes of Edward norton and brad Pitt, even di caprio. Daniel day Lewis also gets my shout someone also said Steven segal for his no nonsense facial expression he acts out so brilliantly in each of his movies, I didn't know we could take that road, so I would like to nominate Keanu reeves. I mean the man can take any role and turn it into his own, absolutely brilliant

He would not be in my top 100 let alone considered one of the greatest.

difficult one, but newer generation its Denzel Washington and Depp. Al Pacino in the 80s. Bale was very talented as a kid but has faded a bit recently.

You sir, are a fool. He's well on his way to becoming one of the best.
One of my favourites, David Tennant, although not up there with most in this thread of course.

Eli Wallach was the greatest. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly as well as the Magnificent Seven and Hombre are just a few of his great films.

Johnny Depp has a lot about him, but I'm not convinced he's the best of all time.

    Damned talented, though.

He needs to stop all these dressing up **** remakes that Tim Burton makes.

Yeah he basically plays the same character in all of them. Doesn't need to gain credibility or anything but I'd like to see him branch out a bit more into different, serious roles.

Nicholson gets my vote. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest is a superb example of his talents. Insane, intelligent, funny and emotional all in one movie. Great actor.

Johnny Depp. He plays real-life character roles all the time. Plays them inside out, all day any day, and to the real life people saying "wow, that is literally me on the screen"..says it all!

Yup, and him in the Shining was amazing.

And whoever said Johnny Depp, watch one of his movies after 2002 and try and say that. I'll give you all the movies he made before that date..... but since....

You don't like Captain Jack Sparrow then.

His movies recently are paired with Tim Burton which he does brilliantly well in.

Although no idea why he did The Tourist.

    Daniel Day Luis------------Just Wow!

    Al Pacino-------Al Pacino nough said!

Robert De Niro-----------Big shout I don't there is a character out there he didn't play!

Tom Hanks----------- for me could be # one he is phenomenal! Philadelphia/Forest Gump/ Cast away! Can someone carry a movie alone by himself like that! Even the Terminal I really felt that he was form Krakozhia a fictitious country!

Meryl Streep--------- The number of Oscar nominations speaks for it self although I don't trust the Oscar's but for her I think she earned them all!

There are more great actors but these are my contenders for best actor ever.
