From the Blackburn Liverpool match http://m.skysports.com/article/sports//7661042

Possibly punished, and rightly so, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the ref from the utd match facing anything similar, as he wrongly ruled in favour of utd, and slur fergie already came out and backed the ref for making the 'right decision'

Good. Referees should be punished for poor decisions.

If they sacked refs for favouring ManU there wouldnt be many refs left....and I thought that was part of an Premierships Refs remit...its on the contract they sign "You must at all times favour Manchester United especially when they are playing at Old Trafford - if they are trailing you must at all times ensure enough added time is applied for them to try and rectify the matter"

Maybe Sian Massey will be brought in for the match in his place? If she's ever made a poor call I've never seen it.

    Exactly!

Someday she'll make the wrong call but it won't feel as though she's done it on purpose, rather it'll be an honest mistake. This fella yesterday was either on the take or blatantly incompetent.

    So how was

    1. Lee Mason and his assistant not "stood down" after changing a decision to award a goal on appeal from Wigan players neither official having seen any infringement?
    2. How was martin Atkinson and his assistant not "stood down" for failing to spot the handball on the line and for allowing an offside goal to stand?
    3. How was Fergie's ref and his assistants yesterday not "stood down" for failing to award a perfectly legitimate goal and at least 2 legitimate penalties?

    Curious don't you think?

Oh hang on they needed Mason to make sure the Mancs got the result yesterday and Atkinson in place in case City looked like getting a win

The FA are now denying us a chance to capitalise on **** linesmen making decisions in our favour.

    Shocking.

It's so obvious now its laughable...I remember 7 - 8 years ago folks used to make remarks about Fergies watch and how ManU get loads of time added on, it was a running joke for most stand up comedians...now they don't even bother adding time on they just give phantom penalties and end the game right on time so Fergie can get his pipe and slippers on in time.

All linesperson should be women, we all know men can't accurately judge distances, we always exaggerate the length of things

I've always said that a team must be outstanding to win the premiership, if not United win it by default because every year they are guaranteed a helping hand along, you simply have to look through the years at crucial games in the title run in's, if they are struggling are finding it tight they always get a woeful decision in their favor to help them win, in the 90's they simply had a great team and no real competition apart from arsenal but this last 10 years they have been helped to titles through some very dodgy officiating.

I would love to see a thorough investigation into it all, with the emergence of the mass betting syndicates from asia who knows what pressure is being put on officials,we all think they favour the mancs but maybe it goes deeper, away from the mancs and the officials for chelsea's champions league match against benfica looked very dodgy, to me that match looked dodgy from start to finish, the ref looked is if he could not wait to send a benfica player off dishing out cards at the slightest touch while chelsea players could kick lumps out of the portugese, once benfica were reduced to 10 men and a goal down the referee started to look a little more balanced.

There's mega millions involved in football these days and with it brings corruption, I strongly believe it exists in the premiership, not just on the field but behind the scenes as well. A lot of the time I try to take a balanced view stopping to ask myself if i'm just biased, but year after year the same team seems to get the same kind of decisions and its got to the stage were its not even funny anymore, the decisions they get are becoming even more mind boggling, I often think if you look away from the obvious decisions during their matches, can those same referee's influence their opponents matches over the course of a season, this leads me to my original point that for another team to win the premiership they have got to be outstanding.

in 08-09 we should have been worthy winners, the media campaign started against our manager and the helping hand was offered to them at every chance by their little team of lap dogs in black, it saddens me, just watching the replays of that tart ashley young last night made me want to vomit, the way he threw his leading leg back and practically did a somersault from the slightest brush of a hand was sickening, and the pundits on motd last night got it correct when pointing out how the ref could not wait to give the penalty and get the red card out, reminded me of the fa cup last year, mr webb showed the same kind of biased display.

But as it always does, life will go back to normal once they have there title in the bag and by the time the summer has come we will have all forgotten how they were helped to another title while we all get excited about our new signings and how next year will be our year only for it to be dashed again.

Has anyone got the stats for penalties this season?

The ones I've seen show that Utd have had 10 and city have had 8. Both have been given 8 penalties at home and both had have 3 given against them.

I'm not sure if those are right?

    * Just checked another site and the stats are the same. Which would mean we've had the 6th most penalties given. And the same given against us as Utd and City. Arsenal have only had 2 penalties given and 4 against them. They should probably start taking a look at the agenda against them. Worst though is Newcastle who have had 9 penalties given against them and only 3 given to them. The anti-geordie agenda in the FA is actually pretty sick. I hope these are wrong.

They're the rewards they are usually given for doing their duty to Sir Alex, look what happened with Bennett, came out of nowhere, sent Masch off, suddenly one of the FA's top refs, that kid who didn't give Fulham their pen and didn't give us a perfectly legitimate goal or any of 3 penalties will be next and Foy might get a shot at it before he retires for services rendered in their cup game v City, afterall, Kompany's sending off when both Toure's had just left for African Cup Of nations duty is where City's season started to go wrong
