We are now mid-table. Everton are now ahead of us & stretching the points difference. Question I ask is, have we even the basis of a top 6 side?

We could well end up in 12th or 13th place if we don't wake up quickly. That would be a disgraceful performance in the context of the money spent last year and it highlights just how poorly we bought.

    no probs
a few "tweaks" will sort it
FSG can still attract top players IF they are willing to pay them top wages

    A few tweaks

We can't attract top players...why don't you understand that?

Top players do not want to play for a mid-table Premier League cup team.

Whatever, with Lucas,Stevie,Agger,Luis,Glen all fit,for most of the season, even if we put half those chances away how different a season could be.

Winning the cup is huge,FA cup semi is massive, and we are playing good football we simply cannot score, before Agger went out we had the 2nd best defence in the league, wake up lads, good times are a coming.

Yes, we do have the basis for a top 6 team. We have massively underperformed this season. We would not be title contenders even if we overperformed, and we won't be next season either, but we should be top 4 contenders. But what you should be and what you are are 2 different things and the table doesn't lie. We now need to get a grip and start getting some results to minimise the damage and make our league position less embarrassing.

FSG will only pay what the budget allows. Its up to the manager to get the best out of the players he has got. Naturalskill, where were all those supporting comments for Rafa after 15 months or so when we had won the CL and had a better league position and were getting better results?

i hope they are, but being 36 pts off top spot and 21 pts off the bottom im not feeling very positive. to couple this we are on our worst results run for over 50 years, and have scored less goals and notched up less points than last season. a few years ago when rafa was our boss we finished 27 or so pts off top spot and gerrard described the teams perfomance/league placing as an embarrassment and simply not good enough for this fine club of ours. we also have the worst strike force the club has had in my lifetime (in terms of league goals scored - im 36).

im still supporting kenny (due to historical reasons), but he cocked up with some of the signings in the summer and for not getting in a goalscorer in january. and for me the latter mistake is the single biggest issue for our 2nd half season performance.

to make matters worse everton, having spent about £2.50 on players are 4 pts ahead of us in the table.

    Better referees in 2013

On a serious note, its going to take some serious money on a couple players to make me think "tweaks" is all thats needed

Gerrard, Johnson and Agger individually being available for more than 50% of the games is highly unlikely.

True, but Andy is a disaster, who knew he would be?
Hendo is young and a decent player,Downing has proven ability and will be better with better players around,Bellamy is a breath of fresh air as is Luis and Enrique.Adam is a liability and his dead balls are a let down,so out of 6 signings, two must go.

With a full squad and a fresh season coming with hopefully 2/3 key signings we can go toe to toe with the best, its the strugglers we have problems with?
We simply need someone to put all those chances away, for me its literally that simple, score our chances finish in top 4,because we are better than what we have shown, our football is vgood, sublime at times, but the finish product needs alot more.

To be honest, after the Arsenal loss and then the Sunderland set back I thought it was quite apparent we wouldn't get fourth, the final league position became less of an issue for me, I know we're short in certain areas that we can't fix until the summer, I know we took a bit of a gamble going with such a small squad and it backfired, I expected consistency to be an issue because of the volume of new players in the side.

Teams set up differently against different opposition, when teams come out and give us a game, we're good, we're better against better sides, when teams park the bus, we don't have the quality to always break them down or finish our best chances and we don't have the strength in depth to always be as good at the back as we need to be. Most teams will play Newcastle, Everton, Norwich, Swansea, Stoke etc going into the game thinking they can get something, neither side will be parking the bus and they'll have a good open game, that's not how it is for us.

Prehaps,Stevie and Agger, but Glen should be ok,and Agger has had a great season compared to his others.Agger when fit is the best,Stevie when on form is the best, missing these kind of players would be a massive blow to anyteam,so here is hoping,if hope doesnt satisfy then we need adequet cover, not the likes of Jay for Lucas.

This has been one of the most skewed seasons ever, for me. We're not as bad as people think.

i think we need 5-6 players. were 36 points off top spot, which isnt far off double our points tally in total. downing and carroll, spearing and shelvey will never be in the league you need your players to be in. nor is henderson imo, however out of all of the, hes the one who may shine long term. but whats the point, hes a non creative non goal scoring midfielder, as is lucas. lucas does his job excellently, and we dont need another.

i agree with you, we need goals, and a lot more of them. we therefore need 2 strikers bought in the summer, so we have 3 quality forwards, at the moment we have one. im not including bellamy, as for whatever reason he plays on the wing

We have been hopless at times this league season, but still tha basis of a good side is there but its a team that Agger and lucas are now are most impoertant players... add to that skrtel johnson gerrard and suarez and there is some good players plus enrique altho he is so frustrating.

Kenny can turn it round - but there has to be signs of it before the season ends

If there is not, then the bullet may have to be bit

shhhh.... you are not supposed to say that: only things like kenny will get it right, kenny stays, we just need a little tweak, etc, etc, etc....

weve played 36 games, which irons out all the short termism of one off matches. the table doesnt lie.

I said yesterday that we need between 5 - 7 of the best quality players that we can attract in the summer....so I agree with you...there or thereabouts.

Stop lad our football sugests we are much better than that,Downing and Shelvey will be fine as will Hendo. If Lucas gets injured again and we dont have adequet cover then it will be a simillar season,Lucas with Stevie and Agger fit and Luis all starting with a goalscorer is fine with me,even go so bold as to say Reina is a liability now.

er basicly no, this is the worst season i can remember in terms of awful decisions on/off the pitch, i honestly dont know how kenny can turn this round even if we win the f a cup. i just dont trust him or commoli to bring in the classy players we need next season. if its anything to go by the players we sign last summer we might as well just turn the lights out.
