Pre & In Game Thread: Liverpool V Everton *FA Cup Semi-Final* 14 April K/O 12:30

Well here it is, the game we are all looking forward to. After a spirited display against Blackburn, we have now another chance to get to another cup final. Our last semi-final against Man City was a game I will remember for a long time. I thought it was all over when Dzeko put them 1-2 ahead but Bellamy secured our route to the final.

Anyway on to this game and with only 1 point separating the teams it looks a very hard game to call, and the team selection for Kenny very hard to pick after our win at Blackburn. We need a strong defence to overcome the likes of the in-form Jelavic. He has been a top buy and I just hope we have Daniel Agger fit and ready to partner Martin Skrtel as this was the best partnership we have had in years. Johnson looked ready to return but I believe he will have to be at right-back because of Flano's dodgy performance last night. Enrique should be our left back but I would love to see Aurelio but it would be to big a game to bring him into.

In midfield Spearing and Shelvey played good games last night but I think I would only call on Spearing for this one. We need someone to sit back in front of the defence while Stevie Gerrard supports the front two. Surely Maxi has done enough to merit a start after taking his tally to 11 goals in 10 starts I believe. He should occupy left wing. Jordan Henderson for me was man of the match last night so I would bring him into a triangle midfield with Stevie and Spearo. Suarez and Maxi could exchange wings during the game and I would like to see Carroll given a game after his terrific showing last night. Whatever Kenny selects I'm sure he will get it right.

Form goes out of the window in derby games which is why I wouldn't put everton slight favs based on recent results...

Anything can happen so I won't guess a score but just hope for a win by any ways means

Tough to leave Henderson and Downing out after some good form of late but for me Kuyts a player you need in the big games and derbys. Maxi's 2 goals last night have earned him a spot IMO he also plays better when Suarez is in the team. Centre backs pick themselves but I'd go for the extra height of Kelly over Johnson at right back as we've been really poor from set plays and it has to stop. Again I haven't seen much of Gulasci but he's surely a safer bet than Jones who looked dodgy last night. Strong bench that can help change a game also.

so happy the back 4 is back at it's best, realy believe this is vital. This together with the bellers-gerrard-maxi-suarez combo should give us a real chance of getting to the final.
not all so shure who to pick for CM. Spearing, shelvey and hendo all have their positives and negatives. Spearing brings a bit of fight to the midfield, especially against everton, but makes some needless faults from time to time. Hendo did very well against rovers, but what he did wasn't in midfield. Shelvey has played well when given the opportunity, but looked a bit lost in CM against rovers, is better as a attacking midfielder.
and finally, I know carrol had a good game against rovers, and scored the winner in extra time, but he also missed a lot of great chances over the past games, and it's something we can't afford. And IMO, he won't be able te contribute in a lot of other ways in this fixture, especially on a big pitch like wembley, so I'd opt to put him on the bench.

Who starts vs The Bitters?

In my opinion, when we play Maxi and Bellamy on the wings, we look very dangerous going forward - add Suarez and Gerrard to the mix, and we have a very attacking, intelligent and creative midfield, who`s movement and technical ability can destroy any team!

I think Kenny prefers Kuyt and Downing, and this was probably the reason both were rested last night.
