Roberto Mancini has decided to offload unhappy Manchester City winger Adam Johnson at the end of the season in a move that has sparked immediate interest from Sunderland.

    *

The 24-year old, snapped up from Middlesbrough for £7million two years ago, has grown restless at a lack of starting opportunities and is ready for a fresh start.

Mancini is in no mood to stand in his way, after harbouring doubts over his attitude and willingness to accept defensive responsibility, and will listen to offers.

Rare appearance: Adam Johnson (left) is not a regular at Manchester City
    *

A £10m asking price, and wages of £50,000 a week, are likely to rule Everton out of the race, despite manager David Moyes' interest.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill, however, will do everything he can to put together a package that would be acceptable to City and Johnson and is the frontrunner for his signature.

there is clearly some sort of problem with him but for that fee it would be worth a try.

Whatever is being offered from anyone else, match it, offer Johnson whatever he wants and get him ****in signed.

    Then go back for Dzeko.

Shame we weren't able to find that extra million/2 in the first place.

Johnson and an in form Downing on the wings next season.

Must be the only person in the world that wouldn't care either way if we signed him or not.

I'd want us to bring in more than one wide player, especially if Maxi and Kuyt are leaving.

If he went for 10 million and we didn't offer at least that or more I would drive down to Anfeild and slap Commolli right in his David Wallace CFO of Dunder Mifflin face! Adam Johnson is one of the best at his position and at that price It would be daylight robbery.

we can´t afford these 3 players and their wages, also i am pretty sure there are better options than Dzeko in the market.

Would be a great signing but would City sell to its rivals ?

Even if they did they would bump up the price.

That article smells of absolute made up ************.

But I would love Johnson here. I thought he'd be on more than £50,000 a week wages though and he'd probably cost more than 10m to us. I reckon if he's available he's the type of player Kenny would go for.

Did he not sign a new contract last year? This would mean that there would be some release clause and we may have to pay over the odds. However if it is 10m then absolutely - Get him!

Based on this season they might hopefully be too cocky to consider us rivals. Johnson is a major yes, De Jong could be good but he would have to be on way lower wages because Lucas would still be first choice DM. I wouldn't mind Dzeko but wouldn't be my first choice of semi-realistic strikers.

Dont think many would be scared of Carroll up front. We need to get rid of him and buy a proper striker.

it would be a strange more for him, to move ot a lower team not to be first choice and reduce his salary in the proccess.

Agreed, I would doubt the odds of getting him unless we promised to play with him and Lucas in a deep 4-2-3-1 but that would seem unlikely with Gerrard, Shelvey, Henderson and Adam still there to compete for places and even then De Jong doesn't seem like the type to step who might 'lower' his standards.

And let's be honest now, the man's a thug. Wouldn't have him anywhere near our shirt.

Agree totally, those 3 players would fit very nicely into our squad.
