    @BBCSport:
Liverpool appeal against keeper Alexander Doni's red card against Blackburn. They hope to have him available for FA Cup semi

Like we we're all saying when it happened whats the worst that can happen?

Can't see that being pulled off at all.

Only argument is Hoilett wasn't getting to the loose ball as Johnson was there, therefore not a red, but I wouldn't buy that if I was the FA.

We'll probably get an extra game for a frivolous appeal.

Remember the FA stands for Ferguson's Army

It's probably only to irk the FA and because lawyers are bored.

True, but would the appeal process temporarily suspend the ban, so he would be able to play at Wembley? Then Reina would be back, making any extra ban for Doni irrelevant. Not a vote of confidence for Brad Jones if that's the case

    Yeah, that's the point.

I don't think LFC are expecting to win the appeal, but it may delay the ban and therefore make him available.

Interesting idea. I think I saw someone posted in here yesterday that the FA would "drop everything" to deal with the Doni case prior to the FA Cup semi final. Yeah, I bet they would. ****ers

Absolutely no chance that will get overturned.

More chance of Comolli getting sacked!

    Wait..............What?!

the appeal process has nothing to do with it at all. if we appeal the red card like they say it will be heard and decided on today or tomorrow. they have to hear and decide on it by the next match

If the FA can pardon Ballotelli's challenge on song in the aresenal game then they should pardon Doni. No chance of an injury, maybe not even a goalscoring opportunity as Glen Johnson was getting back.

Probably, but not an absolute situation. The decision rests on whether Jakubu is adjudged to be deprived of a scoring opportunity at the moment when the foul occurs.

Think we just did it because we had nothing to lose. If Doni gets extra suspension time, doesn't matter as Pepe would be back.

    1) Yakubu
    2) It was Hoilett
    3) and to be honest he was.

On what grounds? Sudden cramp in the leg making him fall over awkwardly, hence the fault being out of Doni's control? I understand doing it just in case, but I can't see beyond this being judged a frivolous appeal.

It won't work, thought it was a definite sending off. Feel really sorry for Doni, because it wasn't his fault, and yet that was probably his last game for the club.

I think the grounds were covered in a previous post, whereby an appeal would suspend the ban until after the Semi final on Saturday, meaning he'd be available to play.

Wouldn't mind betting for once the FA are at the most efficient and have the appeal turned down in the same hour!

There was also the Friedel red card from the Villa game that was overturned. How many defenders have gone with the "I tried to get out of the way but he was not quick enough." defence to see it fail?

The way I see it is "if you don't ask - you won't get" So worth a go.

Its a foul but probably not a deliberate foul so thats why it seems so harsh.

That would make sense, but I thought the FA would have to deal with the case before the game if so?

I am not sure how an unquestionable red card can seem harsh in any way.

The FA always get appeals sorted out before the next game these days, except in exceptional circumstances.

Doni's Red Card won't get overturned - it was as clear a red as you'll ever see.
