Not seen a previous thread about it but was just wondering if we have any rugby league fans out there ! Im a Warrington Wolves fan myself as i come from Warrington (slap bang in-between liverpool and manchester, local pubs are very split on united/liverpool derby days!)

Also, would anyone happen to know the dates of State Of Origin this year? Thanks!

2012 Harvey Norman State of Origin Series
Game 1, Wednesday, May 23, Etihad Stadium, Melbourne

I've just found this amazing piece of technology called a search engine!!

Wow are they great - you can find out about absolutely anything!!

The one I used is called goggle or something like that - boy was it quick.

I found the oval ball questioner an answer in about 2 seconds.

Perhaps he may be able to try it next time. I does entail getting off your arse and doing something for your self though!!

What self respecting Reds supporter is bothered about egg-chasers??

Alright alright calm down! It was only a simple question, thats what forums are for right ? And contrary to popular belief there are other sports in the world you know ! This is the off-topic forum, so im pretty sure im perfectly entitled to ask a question about another sport. Just because i support an RL team does not make me any less of a Red ! Besides, it could be worse, i could like ruby union...

Grandad was a Saints shareholder and lived for the club. Passed down to me through me ma. In transition at the mo but hopefully with the legend that it KC in the dugout, we'll make the playoffs this year. I find it hard to take footy seriously sometimes if I've been to Knowsley Road (not been to Langtree Park yet!) on the Friday and watched a sport played by men, as opposed to a bunch of whinin, spoilt little brats

Oh right thats interesting ! And yes, saints have had a poor start but there is still loads to play for! I know exactly what you mean when you talk about taking football seriously...its very hard to explain to purely football fans because they dont seem to understand, but when you watch RL players give 150% every match and play through blood sweat and broken bones, its extremely frustrating watching football players (who are paid ten times the amount) go to ground like they have just been shot at every little touch !

Good man - fellow Wolves fan myself. They need to get their arses in gear this year though.

Good good! Yes they do, few poor results recently but im sure they will pull through ! Couldn't believe my eyes though watching the Catalans match! Shocking. Still dont think Catalans will make it to the Grand-Final, despite their recent form !

Thing is I can see Leeds doing their usual by coming in to form by the Play Offs and then on to the Grand Final!!

Haha yes that would be typical Leeds ! I have said a few times this season, i dont think Warrington should over-extend themselves in the season like they did last season because it may come to nothing ! Would much rather have them come second/third and reach the grand final than have them grab the League Leaders Shield and then get knocked out of the playoffs ! Saying that, the rugby they played last season was something spectacular to watch and i would not complain one bit to see them put 50 past teams on a weekly basis!

Very true. I do worry that we've got got a relatively old first team & that the steam will go from the legs again by Play Off time.

Could be a problem...but i have been impressed with the likes of Cooper and Dwyer so far this season! Both fairly young lads. Would you rather reach the Grand Final or Wembley? I know everyone would love to see Warrington Reach the Grand Final, but Wembley the season before last was just terrific, brilliant day, atmosphere and match!

I love the guy but his diving drives me insane and looks bad on the club. Just hoping that he will learn soon. I think he has got better, but still goes down stupidly on the odd occasion. Its not even the going down that annoys me, its the theatrics that come with it. Ahh well..

We definitely need Atkins to have another big season for sure. Tbh I'd rather have a Grand Final win now, as I think this has become the holy grail due to Sky's heavyweight coverage on tv. I think this carries greater weight over the Challenge Cup these days.

Yeah i think you have got that spot on, as much as everyone loves a good day out at wembley, the Grand Final is the key measure of success when it comes down to it. At the end of the day, the grand final is what the players work their socks off for all season long, where the Challenge Cup is merely a few rounds. As for the Atkins part, most definitely! One of our best all-round players at the moment, we missed him at catalans. Do you know the extent of his injury? I never actually found out how bad it way/what was actually wrong.

Looked like a good atmosphere! Had a few mates in the saints end too and they met the players at the end of the match outside including Atkins who is by far my favourite player ! Lucky buggers. Haha i was so relieved to get that last try, it made me feel not so bad about the loss ! I will definitely go it looks great. What did you make of the new corners in the Halliwell Jones ?

I take it you are a Wire fan? I saw our two wins against them last season, unbelievable atmosphere on both occasions!

Yeah last Tuesday reached the £500,000 target by £6,000 so just about scraped through, thankfully. So now the club are now in talks of "the next stage of the plan" which I assume were still going to need a lot more investment to restructure the club and make it a stable business. At least we got over the first hurdle and can just hope it continues to improve.

Yeah a lot of support has been shown which is great to see in Super League...all sorts of fans donating etc

That's brilliant to hear mate ! glad they came up with the money, don't deserve to collapse ! It's a real shame when money gets in the way of great clubs progressing. Hopefully the donations will keep flying in and they will reach their next target and hopefully their strategy to transform the club will succeed!

Yeah fingers crossed mate, just hope we can get past it all and concentrate back on the rugby which has been in the background a little bit.

You reckon that it could Warrington's year then? Personally I think Catalan look quite strong, but maybe a bit early to judge.

Yeah they need to because Bradford are a brilliant club, gave us a run for our money earlier in the season, was a tough match!

And possibly, I think the squad needs to improve a little, reduce the ball handling errors because that has been what has let us down and is the reason we haven't been putting down 50 every week (a lot to ask I know haha, I'm just greatful for a win ;D) like last season.

I don't think Warrington will get League Leaders this year, I think there are too many clubs near the top competing with us. I think like you said Catalans will be well up there along with Huddersfield, Wigan, Saints, Hull FC and Leeds. As for the grand final we will have to see ! If we save ourselves I think we could be challengers for it this season !

Just heard more great news, in that our owner announced before todays game that Bradford are in talks with 2 potential investors. So fingers crossed for next couple of days.

Yeah i agree it's going to be a tight one this season with some good teams competing up there. I'm happy either way if its not Leeds or Wigan, I live quite near there so every Rugby fan around here is a Warrior and I cant escape them haha

That's brilliant lad! Made up for you and the club. All the fans who have stuck with them deserve it, they really don't deserve to collapse.

And haha yep! Leeds are always big favourites for the grand final, you know what they are like...haha. And we have quite a few Warriors fans surprisingly in Warrington but a lot of them are Wiganers who have moved in. That's the thing about rugby too, ll the clubs are so close to each other that you usually get quite a few sets of supporters in any area!
