Top class player, we missed him big time when he left (and probably still do), not happy at his actions at the time but hey, in this day and age its what footballers do, a
club like Barca as they are now comes in for you and you do whatever you need to to get there. Hopefully in future we will once again be the Barca of Europe as we used to be and top players will be desperate to come to us.

As others have said, he gained a lot of Kudos for dedicating the win over the Mancs to us at a time when 99% of players would only of thought of themselves.

Titanic player. Went to a better club and we didn't get totally screwed on the fee. No complaints.

Well yes, the replacements are not in the same league.

    It's why we've gone from 2nd to 8th.

Both Alonso and Mascherano's departures were beyond our control though even though we could have replaced them better.

He's gone from not playing at West Ham ( ) to playing for the best team in the world in a completely different position.

He really is a massive player and credit to him and Barca for finding a solution. He was a wonderful player for us and I wish him well at Barca. Always loved the Monster Masch but that went up a little higher when he dedicated his medal and beating United in last year's CL final to the supporters of Liverpool.

Fair play to Pep for converting Masch, but I seem to remember Rafa playing him at right back for us on a few occasions??

Except for the best team in the world.

It's a myth that Barca defenders get it easy. They come up against the big teams and do well. Against Levante, yesterday, he showed how brilliant he has become at that position.

A rat, could be argued by all super fans, but a coward?

is it cowardly to want to play for arguably the worlds greatest ever team? is it cowardly to want to dislodge a player from this same team?

dont forget since leaving us he has won La Liga, the Champions league, the Copa Del Ray, the Super Cup and has been crowned as a Word Club champion. He is also due to play another Copa Del Ray final, another Champions league final (after beating Chelski), and his team remain only 4 pts behind Real Madrid for this years league, with the CLassico to play next week.

Some say its cowardly, but I say it was a sign of courage, wanting to test ones self against the best in the world.

I guess youre being ironic, but he does form part of that defence you know, hes not there for half time Oranges. If you watch him play for them you will see how many attacks he simply destroys. Its likely that they would concede more without him being there. They have conceeded less goals in the Champs league this season than last, when he spent most of the season with splinters or in midfield.

Mascherano was the best signing we had made in years, we just couldn't hold on to him.

And he's the lesser of the 3 key players we sold, who we have yet to replace (although I prefer Lucas) and people expect us to be top four

A quick dedication doesn't wipe out the memory of refusing to play against City.

No. People expected us to do better replacing them in the summer.

    Indeed.

We bought Adam and Henderson for not far off the Alonso fee and Carroll and Suarez cost a tad more than Torres.
