Hi All
I'm putting this up to try and help a woman who's struggling to get her child fitted with one of these - a BAHA. My youngest has one (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/lates...am-melwood-day) - one of his problems is that he has no right ear with absolutely no internal structures found in an ordinary ear. He is therefore unilaterally deaf on that side and was struggling badly with sound direction until he was fitted with the BAHA. It's not a terribly common thing to come across - it is a small hearing aid, about the size of an Oxo cube which clips to an abutment screw that has been drilled into the wearer's skull. It picks up sound which is "transmitted" to the healthy ear via bone conduction. It has made such a difference to my wee man's quality of life; he's no longer struggling at school and crossing the road is nowhere near as dangerous as it was.
The family support group I'm a member of has got wind of this lady's fight to get her young daughter the same help my boy has had. She herself has the same condition and has struggled through her life with it and simply doesn't want her daughter to struggle the same way. Her local health board is not willing to fund the operationtherefore she has had to resort to an online petition to try and get her PCT to agree to fund the operation:

You don't even have to leave your email address or phone number, just your name. Please sign, she's nearly there with her target.
cheers
