IF the next manager can come in and and bring 4 , only 4 quality additions to our sqaud , i think the future could look very bright indeed. Kennys team selections and tactics were all there to be seen and to be fair his reliance on henderson on the right wing did really grate a lot of us when maxi couldnt even get in the team, but no point in looking back now .

The new manager has to turn 6 home wins into 16 and make anfield a fortress again , losing to most of the teams in the bottom half of the table is not accetable .

Does the team need massive surgery , i'm begining to think not with sterling , suso, robinson, flanno waiting in the wings the reserves will soon get their chance to stake a first team place.

The first team has dominated most of the teams it has played , only ones that were really bad was against newcastle and spurs and man city , if the new manager and team can identify a new striker to take the load off carroll and suarez that will help.

Also we've never replace xabi , and now he's in the heart of the championship winning team in spain , we need someone who can pass the ball forward in the middle of the pitch, other than stevie , who now has to play attacking midfield in my opinion, his box to box days are over.

We need a right winger , the last one we had was jermaine pennant, we need someone of quality who can provide service for andy, im sure stewart downing cant be as bad as he was this year.

Carra is on his last legs coates will be an able replacement, but we'll need cover for him also at center half.

Who ever comes in has to identify a style of play he wants to see us play i think we're caught a little between pass and move and hoof

my formation and team at the moment could look like this

    suarez carroll
    gerrard
    sterling/downing right side midfielder
    lucas
    enrique agger skertel johnson

I would rather sign two wide men and a creative midfielder and trust our strikers for one more season unless we have money for a top striker.
Get the supply right instead of the crap we have now and see if it makes a big difference.

Well, at least that is what I wanted under Kenny anyway...

This will be the 2nd Litmus test for the owners this Summer, with the first obviously being the appointment of a new manager; and anything shy of £40m net (£55m gross) won't net us these right quality and experience we need in the roles you've identified. Agree that Sterling, Suso, Robinson and even Adorjan/Ngoo should have opportunities with the first team this year in the Cup matches.

Liver I think we should be focused on a creative midfielder who can also play on the wings if tactics dictate wider play.

We need a speedy striker.. doesnt have to be lightning fast but atleast quick in the first few yards.. a young player even i dont mind.. one that can stretch defences .. we have no pace upfront at all.. teams play a high line against us without too much fuss

To be honest if our strikers do play well next year most top teams still have three at least.

We desperately need a central midfielder more than anything else I'd say.

Indeed, a new striker is on the list.

But realistically, we have limited resources and with Carroll's new form and indeed his original price tag, we should maybe pool all our resources towards adding creativity and goals in midfield and see what difference it makes.

    I agree 100 % a striker(poacher) , a creative strong midfielder , a centre back(coates needs more time) , right winger (pacey tricky and good delivery )

    sell: Aquilani
    joe cole
    aurelio released
    shelvey (loan) ?

Buy: Dempsey or defoe - striker
collochini or shawcross - centre back
lavezzi or lennon - right winger
sneijder or kaka - central midfield playmaker

We need at least one top class wide player; maybe two if Maxi and Kuyt leave.

We need a striker to compete with Suarez and Carroll and cover for the holding midfield position.

Four players, the right players, plus the improvement of Carroll and Henderson, could see us compete for that top four spot.

Sorry Downing just has to go. Heavens knows why he has been picked for England as he is not mid table class let alone international. Id prefer Aquilani or Cole rather than Downing. No assists or goals in 38 PL games remember!
