Probably all rubbish but its real uninspiring.
Yes probably - Rodgers said on the Offal today that he has a list of players, which he probably had before he even joined us, and is looking at 1-2 he knows can improve us. Then he will have a look at the squad and how they will work in his style - then decide if he needs to add more. Given Sigurdsson is likely one of the former, apart from that I cant see much activity in the market before end of July.

Also saw Aquilani's agent categorically deny he was cancelling his contract and becoming a free agent.

Also, Wenger reckons Jordi Alba is going to Barca from Valencia this summer. He said pretty much during commentary.
That Alba transfer was agreed weeks ago.

From the Daily Fail so must be 100%

Liverpool have been linked with a £6.5million move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia.

The 25-year-old cost almost £9million when Atletico signed him from Osasuna five years ago, but he will be allowed to leave after falling out of boss Diego Simeone’s plans.

This is depressing if we are signing players because Athletico Madrid basically don't think they are good enough for thier team.

Im not really too bothered where we get them from, as long as B-rod thinks they'll fit.

I've always quite liked Raul García.

Would be interesting to see if he could make the step up though.

What's also intriguing is that he's in no way a defensive midfielder, which means that with Sigurdsson we'd have a ridiculous amount of CMs at the club.

Tito vilanova at his unveiling press conference talked about strengthening the Barca defence and doesn't expect to add any players in the forward position.

He named all the forwards and then continued to say and we all so have youth players Cuenca & ( Tello )but said in a way that he expects them to play a part next season.

Obviously you can take that either way but just thought I would update

I'd rather get Javi García from Benfica if we were going to sign anyone with that last name.

Javi García would certainly be a better fit.

I think every manager will speak in present sense whilst players are still at their club, personally means nothing to me, offered a new contract? that's a different ball game altogether...not sure what type of ball game, maybe squash, who knows.

I guess you are just impatient.

He had a verbal agreement with Swansea, Rodgers said he would talk to him but only after he had talked to Swansea. He has done that and is now in talks with us. No one said he was coming to Liverpool, just that it was likely. there has been no agreement.

I'm not sure I believe about the 'other clubs' anyway. Probably just his agent trying to drive up his price.

Here's that link he's talking about the United comments. http://www.fotbolti.net/fullStory.php?id=104208

Now according to google translator, this is the one where he said ManU is his favorite team in English football.

Ory Pham, August Flame Petursson, Isaac Jonasson, Atli Sigmundsson, Ivar Moon Garðarsson
What is your favorite team in English football?
    Manchester United.

There was another comment about the EPL being his dream so you can assume ManU is his team. Means nothing when it comes to your profession though so we'll see. He wouldn't be the first player to love another team when he grew up and then had to change when opportunity came knocking. There are so many examples I don't think it's honestly that big of a deal. If it comes down to it, *** for tat, he'd pick United, but with their squad situation, playing time, system, Rodgers, there are way to many variables to say he'd go to United just because it's his team.

It's nice being a supporter, none of the messy professionalism business. I love Liverpool, and since no other club will ever come in for me, offer to pay me well and develop me, I'll never have to examine my feelings.

Fwiw Ole Gunnar Solskjær was a massive Liverpool fan growing up. When Utd came knocking wanting to sign him, obviously he couldn't say no to that opportunity.
Much like I would suspect that Sigurdsson would think when it comes to us - a great opportunity for him playing for a sleeping giant.

I completely agree. Like I said in the above post, when you throw your professional development/lifeblood into the decision, all bets are off. If everything was equal between United/Liverpool, and I mean playing time, salary, system, coaching, etc. United would probably win because of the support factor. But nothing is ever that cut and dry and I personally think his option is better here as our squad isn't as deep. He should get more opportunity at Anfield. There is so much more to consider when your job comes into it, and he certainly wouldn't be the first to end up supporting another club because he ended up playing for a rival. Carra, Rio, the examples are endless and that's because you don't always get to grow up and play for your favorite side, it's not how the world works.

Eh, I think it depends, like I said, too many variables. He's a United supporter judging from some pieced together quotes, but there is the bond(?) with Rodgers, system, playing time to consider. Maybe he would just ignore all of the other factors to join his club. I don't know just speculating that as a professional, you should factor all of that in instead of just wanting to go play for the club you grew up supporting. Hopefully this gets sorted quickly.

I think so to. All that has been said is that he is in talks with us and "other clubs". I haven't heard Manu mentioned though.

Of course we don't know but if United and us came in for any player they are most likely to join United for obvious reasons.

I wouldn't say they have a deeper squad either, they are desperate to replace Scholes who they have had to bring out of retirement. But like I said its moot because they don't appear to be in for him.

As each team goes home from the Euro's the more players we'll be linked with.
