I know his name has come up over the last few seasons but he's just torn up his contract and left Flamengo due to non payment of wages. Although he's 31 and obviously not as good as a few years ago could a player of his type be a useful addition to the squad.

Given the fact that we probably will not attract playmakers at their peak at the moment due to cost, wages and CL qualification we either have to pick them up young or 'experienced'.

The nearest 'flair' players we have are Cole and Aqua and we don't know BR's policy on them yet.

His wages might be an issue BUT would he be an asset over the next couple of seasons???

I think he could be useful, would definitely generate revenue from shirt sales etc. I don't think we could pay his current wages, but he may be prepared to take a drop in wages so he can play in the prem. I'd give him a go

oh well thats knackered that idea then.

any other old hands that might be worth a punt?

    Del Piero?

By the way - by posting this im not saying we should buy old and give players a final pay packet - but there must be players out there who can do a job for a couple of years and benefit both the club and upcoming youngsters.

As an example - Gary McAllister - 35 when signed - and helped/inspired the 5 Cup season

Well, another Brazilian option would be Oscar from Internacional. He's been absolutely lethal for Brazil in recent games, and is only 20 or so. His play making skills and technical ability are sublime and he has a work ethic that is rarely seen in Brazilian 'flair' players (many of Brazil's recent goals are a result of him closing down opposition and causing them to lose possession). Honestly would not be surprised if he overtakes Ganso as Brazil's future central play maker.

Unrealistic of course, but it's nothing out of the ordinary as Brazil's flair players rarely join the EPL. And of course there must be dozens of clubs interested at him at this stage.

It's a definite no go to Ronaldinho, his desire went a long time ago. I can see why you want experienced heads in the squad and I think another may go well with Stevie and Bellers in the team.

However, it needs to be somebody with a good attitude, good ability and still want to achieve something, not just in it for one last pay cheque. The only person who I can think of who may be avialble and that is Seydou Keita, think he could be an astute signing for the right price.
