towards the end of the season i can see that enrique has a drop in form , and he might not return to his best .
We could change into a 3-5-2 , and use johnson.glen in RW position , since he loves to attack so much

We could also buy a couple of players and have a steady squad.

    Buy : Gylfi Siguršsson ( 8m )
    Keisuke Honda ( 12m )
    Luuk De Jong ( 10m )

    Sell : Adam + Downing (12m)
    Kuyt (1m)
    Pacheco + Wilson + Joe Cole ( 7m )

    Pepe Reina
Martin Skrtel - Sebestian Coates - Daniel Agger
    Lucas Leiva - Gylfi Siguršsson
Keisuke Honda - Steven Gerrard - Glen Johnson
    Luis Suarez
    Andy Caroll

    Subs : Doni , Enrique ,Carragher , Henderson , Bellamy , Maxi , Aqualini , De Jong , Shelvey , Spearing

    Net Spend : 0m

Rumours are there is around 30m Available this summer , and i guess the owners will give another 25 in january .
We could keep those 55 with us , and next summer when we qualify for the CL and the owners give another 50m to spend , we could go on a 200m spending spree which could help our squad.

This would also give Enrique some good teaching as he thinks he is the only available left back and cant be bothered to play well.

you make at least one thread per day on transfer plans which will never happen. We wont sell adam and downing and in my opinion we shouldn't give them another season and Enrique will prefrom more consistantly next season. Lastly 3-5-2? just no.

The amount of free kicks he gives away in dangerous positions is uncountable , just that makes him terrible.

I'd rather him give away free kicks then send somebody down in the box consistantly.

I would rather he sends someone down in the box constantly then miss penalty constantly which demoralizes the team alot.

Well it's certainly clear you don't like Charlie Adam.

3-5-2 doesnt work not while everybody is basically playing 4-3-3 if you leave 3 at the back you would just get slaughtered, espescially the line up you suggested it is so narrow.

Lucas Leiva Is sheilding the 3 centerbacks .

This is a formation for teams playing through the middle , obviously wont use this against man utd .

We won't be playing 3-5-2, Brendan Rodgers plays a 4-2-3-1.
I'd like us to buy and keep these players:

    GK: Reina, Doni, Jones.

    RB: Johnson, Flanagan.
CB: Skrtel, Agger, Kelly, Coates, Wisdom.
    LB: Enrique, Robinson.

    CDM: Lucas, Henderson.
    CAM: Gerrard, Honda.
    CM: Sahin, Shelvey, Suso.

    RW: Suarez, Pacheco.
    CF: Huntelaar, Carroll.
    LW: Elia, Sterling.

    First Team:
    -----------------Reina----------------
    ------------Skrtel---Agger-----------
    ---Johnson----------------Enrique---
    ------------Lucas---Sahin------------
    ---Suarez-----Gerrard--------Elia---
    --------------Huntelaar---------------

    Subs:
Doni, Kelly, Coates, Henderson, Shelvey, Honda, Carroll.

Gerrard is the only over 30, out-field player (Doni), left.
Being so injury prone, the last two seasons, his cover is our best in the squad, Honda.
The first team are in their prime or entering it and their cover are youthful players.
Having such a young squad is good to start off a new project with.

I don't know where some of you get your understanding of Rodgers team set up from

last season Swansea played with a back FOUR, THREE central midfielders - (one holding and two slghtly more advanced) - TWO attacking wide players and a LONE central striker

    GK (Reina)

RB (Johnson) CB (SkrtelL) CB (Agger) LB (Enrique)

    HMid (Lucas

Rt Mid (Gerrard) Lt Mid (?)

Rt Att (Suarez) Left Att (Bellamy / ?)

    Central St (? / Carroll)

Based on our current squad I would play Maxi in the left midfield spot ut believe we should aim for younger and of at least equal quality

I would play Bellamy as the left sided attacker (his position at Man Citeh and Cardiff) but again think we need someone younger and less prone to injury

I am yet to be convinced that Andy Carroll can play as a lone central striker so we may need to look elsewhere. I could be wrong in which case "happy days"!

The right side of the team looks strong, with Kelly, Coates and Shelvey providing excellent back up. We don't have as much strength on the left but if we bought a new left attacker and left midfielder with Maxi and Bellamy as back up we would be OK, although I would prefer an experienced left back as cover for Enrique

I see Henderson as cover for Lucas although I would still like the DM from Wigan available on a free to provide some at times needed muscle in the DM role

3-5-2 with two wingers as the OP suggests would be suicide. 3-5-2 works with wing backs, not wingers.

The main reason i want us to play a 3-5-2 , is to play like blackpool when they were in the PL . Attack more Defend less . that way we can try to overcome our inability to score goals and as long as we score more goals then the opponent we should be fine .

    You should be a manager.

3-5-2 with wingers will never ever work.

I dont believe we will play a 3-5-2, due to the fact that this formation doesent offer fullbacks to join the assault on the flanks, which means that the delivery for our targetman will be through the middle or the odd times that our LM or RM on singlehand runs through the defense or passes a cross from the deep. I believe we will play either 4-3-3 o4 3-4-3 - And im pretty sure that Adam wont be part of Brendan Rodgers strting eleven unless his fitness improves a lot.

I think Adam is a good enough player, but his fitness and his way of handling pressure in the middle of the pitch, makes it seem like he loses his calm pretty often. Im sure Brendan wants more aggressive players that keep their calm and have a high high level of fitness.. every player on the pitch has to be able to run from start till finish and still gain that seccond wind. This is how i think we line up next year with a few guesses on players being brought in.

stupid post. what makes you think that Enrique who proved that he is great LB will not get his form back this season ? but you think andy carroll who did absolutely nothing and was horrible last season should be our only striker and he will be great ?

Andy Carrol was horrible? Dude we had a lot of players not living up to their potential last season, and i believe that we will see what these players are made off during this season. Carroll were among the best players in the last 5-6 games, and he proved that he wanted to make a effort for the team. LEts see how the function under B.Rodgers before shipping them off and making judgements on their footballing abilities.

the OP is making judgments on Enrique who was 100 times better than andy. and yes Andy was horrible ! fact ! he was good just last few games and this was the minimum wanted from striker so yes his season was awfull. and my point is why he think Enrique will not get his form back next season when he proved that he is great at LB but thinks andy will improve his form and be great when his season was awfull ....

Well i agree that Enrique played a decent season overall.. but fell out of form in the end of the season. Most of our players had a poor season to be honest. Love Kenny for everything he has done for the club, but he has made a lot of wrong decissions during this season and the way he benched or used Caroll during this season and the way he wanted to team to play to set him up has been terrible. Dont blame Carroll for all of it, but no doubt he had a bad season overalll but so did the rest of team, when it comes to leaguematches any way.

Honda is an attacking midfielder and will play about half of our games by alternating with Gerrard.
I understand you think putting Honda out wide and cutting in would work, but Elia does do it better.

A DM, or even 2, could not make up for the fact that you have no full backs or wing backs.

That is the basic concept of football in general regardless of the formation you play. I have yet to see a game where a team allows more goals then they score and they win the game.

Secondly, should we really be modelling our team after Blackpool? They did after all get relegated.
