I am looking forward to the new season. FSG want CL, then they will have to invest heavily to achieve this. They can't expect miracles from the new manager. He going to need time and money. It may be a rolllercoaster of a season, but with the right support Rodgers can achieve big things with us.

You're quite right pointing out Rodgers will need time, I just hope this time next year there won't be calls for Rodgers to be booted, otherwise rename the club to Chelsea.

Oh you can bet your life that there will be many many calls for Rodger's head throughout next season! Our first defeat will be accompanied by cries of 'tactically inept', 'not ready for such a big club' etc.

    Pathetic isn't it.

Am I optimistic of getting a top four next season? No, can't say I am. Our main competition for those spots will all be strengthening. The plastics have already brought in Hazzard & more signings are a certainty. Old Red nose will be desperate to strengthen after missing out on the title by such a narrow margin to city. City are likely to keep on spending & bring in more top talent. Arsenal have already got Podolski signed up & are likely to bring in more names in a bid to keep rvp happy & convinced he stands a chance of satisfying his ambitions there. Only spurs look like they will be weaker, standing to lose Modric and maybe Bale, amongst others.

A lot will depend on the sort of quality and numbers we bring in this summer. Personally I'd like to see 4-5 quality additions to the team. Players who have the ability to improve us in the here and now.....not players who 'might' have the potential to develop that quality in a few years time, not more players bought to beef out the squad. There's a large amount of consensus about what we need. A proven goalscorer, another winger pref right sided, a goal scoring cam, good solid cover for Lucas, and it wouldn't hurt to have some competition/cover for Enrique.

Whether Rodgers believes that Aquilani and or Cole can be made use of remains to be seen. How much Rodgers will have to spend this summer also remains to be seen. What players the club manages to bring in this summer remains to be seen. And while those thing's are up in the air it's hard to say how optimistic I feel about the coming season.

I hope for improvement in the league of course, and if the club brings in some additions who have the quality to actually improve our starting 11 then I will of course feel more optimistic about the coming season. So I'll just remain hopeful & wait and see what moves the club makes on the transfer front, keeping my fingers crossed.

    Onwards and upwards.

He would be lucky to better last season with this squad.

Looking forward to next season with BR.

Think we could just about scrap 4th if we bring in Luuk De Jong.

Put it this way, last season we were pants up front, yet we were only 6 wins away from 4th, so that's 3 wins before XMAS and 3 wins after XMAS.

Buy Sigurdsson and De Jong sorted.

6 wins is a lot. And last season was exceptionally poor in standard. The 63 points Rafa got in his last season would have only been 4 points off fourth.

That's absolute rubbish we had a poor season down to poor finishing, poor selection, inept tactical decisions, a lot of new signings bedding in and a bit of bad luck. Oh and before anyone accuses me of Kenny bashing I thought he deserved one more season.

Poor finishing, by poor players (Adam, downing, Henderson, Carroll) . Your supposed to get better over the course of the season, if your 'bedding in' not get gradually worse. You see Meireles he was indifferent/average for 5 months, then he gradually improved for us when he had settled in. Adam, Henderson, Downing were decent for a few weeks, then were awful for the rest of the season. Enrique also turned in form after December. But I do agree inept tactical decisions by KD was a key factor in our poor season. Downing has 0 goals in 34 games for eng, 0 goals 0 assist in the league for lpool. He has been average his whole career, to expect a change of manager to invigorate him , is naïve.

I base 70% of the season on what we do from June to September. So am I optimistic right now? No. Ask me again in mid July and maybe I'll change my mind.

Signing Diame would be an unacceptable start.

I have to say, although I was for another season for Hodgeson and Dalglish, I do have a feeling that Rodgers could galvanise the squad we have. Previously great or good players, like Gerrard, Downing, Maxi etc played below their potential. Other players, like Skirtel, stepped up, but I did feel like we under-performed, based on the talent that we had. With Lucas back and a tangible football vision, I think we could see some players blossom. We need to strengthen and I would offload Cole if possible, but I would welcome Aquilani back - he can do a job for us. Another finisher, the guy from Swansea (Sig... whatever) and a decent wide man and we would have a decent set off players to challenge for top four.
Anyway, whatever happens, Rodgers and LFC have my support and I hope to hear the ground bouncing, win, lose or draw.

    cheers

I disagree, he's free and better cover for Lucas than Spearing.

My nans better cover than spearing. Diame is not good enough, he struggles to get into wigan XI. Haven't you learnt from voronin, jovanovic, Degen. Diame is free for a reason, no one broke a back to renew his contract. Let Villa have him. He is better than Spearing, but we can do better still.

    Yikes ..

Signing Bendtner would see us enter that special place that is actually beyond the bottom of the barrel ...

It's an improvement and if we don't have a massive transfer kitty it makes sense, whether or not we can do better all depends on what we have to spend, that's all I'm saying.

if we dont have the money it would be better to save the little money we have for the next summer rather than adding more crap to our team. hope bendtner, diame and jarvis links are not true .... if we are going to get the rejegts of lower teams then we are in big trouble and our expectations lowered to a mid table club

Where do you expect us to sign players from? Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus? Cause that isn’t going to happen. The sooner fans realise we are not going to attract the big names the better. Jarvis would be an improvement on what we have on the left wing for sure.

I’d quite like us to get Vargas from Fiorentina to replace enrique at LB but think that rumour has already gone quiet.

So we should sign Diamie for 5 years? Even at 40k/wk, you're looking at him costing 10.5m. Sounds like a waste of money to me.

as i said would be better to save the money and have more for the next summer to get quality and not average flops. you mentions vargas to replace enrique ? but not mention someone to replace hendo and carroll ? enrique had much much much better season than them ..... seriously i feel sorry for fans like you .... who think carroll is the next ronaldo and hendo is the next messi but enrique should be replaced ??? lol.

I’ve already said that i’d like Carroll to leave but don’t think it’s going to happen. I’ve also said i would get rid of Henderson and Downing so i’ve not once said they are a Ronaldo or Messi. What makes you think big names will join if we come 8th again? You are clearly clueless if you think the club will sign nobody so we can then spend more next season. So if you can find any comments by me that say Carroll is amazing or Henderson is even good i’ll give you £5.

Enrique did well for the first couple of months then he was as poor as anybody else in the team. Against the better teams he was made to look silly and he is a mid table player.
