Im watching Ukraine v Sweden Euro match.
    Ukraine's number 11.

He impressed me so far. (vs Sweden at Euro's)
    Skill, pace, passing and skill.

Good crossing on him too. (Sheva's first goal)

This guy should be man to watch.
Let's see how he does for Ukraine next game.

Those who noticed him, any thoughts?

I actually preferred the lad on the left Kiorengtdva(god knows how to spell it). Looked very pacy and dangerous. Heard the commentry say his club rated him a £50m though, wouldt go that far maybe a quater of that.

    Agreed.
He's taller than other attacking mids. But still got speed. More like Zlatan Ibrahimovic from what i saw last night.
Left footed, prefer cutting inside from wide position.
Always wanted the ball, and made himself available to receive a pass. And quick release of the ball to move and find space.
But towards the end of the match i noticed him ran out of stamina. (75 mins)

Of course that was just one game. Because i never knew about him until game against Sweden.
Like i said, let's see what he does for Ukraine's next game.

I hope Rodgers & Co. are watching him too.

Thats him 'monopolyjenga' with a name like that he should be good in a game, anyone seen my coat
Yarmolenko is a more likely target on the right though. Who does he play for and hows he played over the last 2 years?

I'll reserve judgement myself. Voronin was MOTM (for me) against a patheticly average Sweden team!

My main concern is the capabilities of the eastern bloc players of adapting over here. The record is poor, add to that Shevchenko and its very bad. There is an undoubted big risk factor and not really going to be that cheap.Personally i wouldnt take the risk.

Andriy Yarmolenko is only 22 and have shown quality for a long time, and he would probably be both a better and cheaper alternative than A. Johson.

Got to careful about buying a player on the strength of a decent Euros or World cup.

Ged did that when he bought Diouf. Dead loss.

Few Russians look good tho but still shouldn't be fooled by a decent 20 minutes.

Guess you mean Yevgen Konoplyanka. He is also quite good, and is referred to as "the Ukrainian Messi". Not that I could see that comparison, but he's anyway a young and interesting talent.

I'd have him over Johnson any day. He seems much more physically imposing and capable than Johnson. Not to mention he'd likely be a cool 10 mil cheaper.

Maybe. But every signing is a risk.

Sheva is a striker. Main ability to score goals, that killer instinct when he's in the box to score. But he failed to do that on consistent basis in the PL.
Because defenders are far more better in PL.

But Yarmolenko is a different type of attacker. Unlike Sheva this guy can beat defenders. And also score goals. It's like Carroll & Suarez, different players.
If played as Inside Forward role, he can get pass players. He went pass Martin Olsson quite a few times last night (not the best defender, but with PL exprience, so his defending response is class if to be compared to other defenders that were the game last night)
Still... Yarmolenko beat Olsson. Quick feet he has.

He plays for Dynamo Kiev, so there's been plenty of chances to see him in action.

Konopylanka was better for me. His club rate him at 50m euros though.

Its not the ability i question which is clearly there, its the mentality and temprement. Arseshavin a geat example of this. Perhaps there just not up for it, i really dont know but the record is clear

Seems a good young player, i'll be honest and say the first I heard of him was on football manager when it came out, and i've seen a few clips and highlights but last night was the first full match. The only thing that is making me doubt last night is that Voronin looked like a beast of a player...and we all know how bad he was here.

The reason why so many players look good on previous clubs or international duty & not in their respective clubs is simple, Arshavin is a good example, for Russia he's considered a star player he's very important he makes things happen for them, the manager gives him an important role as playmaker, all his team mates are always looking out for him, they need to get him on the ball as often as possible so he can create his magic & that's why you see a lot of him during games. On the other hand, at Arsenal he's just considered a team player who covers the left side of the pitch, the ball goes to him less often & without the ball there's not much he can do, the star role there is covered by V Persie, everyone is looking to make a pass to him & that's why he scores so many goals. I'm not saying that's wrong, absolutely not, every team play to their strengths & at Arsenal it's V Persie who they rely on most of the time.
