This guy is ridiculously good and would suit our style of play, pull out the stops to get him.

    Relative isn't it.

If this guy played with you and your mates, I would imagine he would seem ridiculously good.

He's an excellent player, but a 30 year old is not what we need.

Interesting statement considering what you said in the pirlo thread , " The thing is Pirlo, at 33, has guided Juventus to a league title....

Pirlo is the best case of a "if you play on talent you will play for as long as you want" theory."

At 30 he will have another three years for us to capture his best form, secondly i can see where you are coming from in terms of the owner's philosophy but surely he will be allowed some form of a discretionary spend?

Somehow, I couldn't see Riman Shirokov guiding us to a league title.

on his own? but look at the russian play against greece next game and you will see my point a real midfield boss who can play a dynamic game, Look he's not the saviour to our problems but if you had Lucas shirokov and gerrard in mid we certaintly wouldn't be conceding that part of the park.

Look I've seen him play in the qualifiers too and he was instrumental to that team in Dublin and Moscow so its not like im knee jerking off the back of the euros (is that a nonlinguistic metaphor too? or how about "I am the walrus" line for the best nonlinguistic metaphor of them all )

has Rodgers the option of buying him though or for that matter any player over 25? and if so is that folly

Shirokov isn't Pirlo and he wouldn't be moving from one part to another part in his own country.

He's a complete nutter. Apperently he's gone missing for 2 months during his career without his club knowing his whereabouts and when he finally reappeared, he put a cast around his leg to make his club believe he was out with a broken leg. And he drinks quite a lot. At least that's what I heard. Also gets labelled as "genius but utter scumbag" by his colleagues. Quite funny actually.

well that puts an interesting light on him somewhat but maybe Advocaat has put manners on him and who knowns maybe he is trying to make an impact now that he is in his thirties..bit concerned about the joey barton comparison, ok so best to leave alone then
