I stumbled across an old England v Argentina game from 1980 at Wembley and was amazed to hear the crowd singing you'll never walk alone in full voice.

I didn't know that was the case. Anyone else remember this and why did it stop?

Was always known as our song and that`s why they stopped and tried to ridicule instead.

It was a popular song from the hit musical Carousel and was in the charts, but Gerry & the Pacemakers were artists from Liverpool so the song became synonymous with Liverpool and it's football team.
