Real come into the game top of the league, with most goals and least conceded.

That won't concern Celta too much though, they've already beaten the "then-leaders" twice this season, Villareal, and Barca (Barca by 4-1), are unbeaten in the league, and they (17) and their key striker Nolito (6) have been prolific in front of goal.

Real have some injury concerns in Benzema and Bale, and James Rodriguez (definitely out.)

If Real can avoid defeat, next up for them is:
    -Las Palmas (h)
    -PSG (h)

If Celta can do it, they'd meet:
    -Real Sociedad (a)
    -Valencia (h)

Real were outplayed for most of the game, but prevailed through a goal from Nacho, who had come on at left back as a sub a matter of minutes beforehand.

A tough test for Real, though Sevilla are not in great nick right now. After a poor start to the season they sit in 11th, and lost last time out to Villareal, but the Sanchez Pizjuan is always a tough place to go.

Bale should be back, and James as well, though Benzema is doubtful after his "issue."

If Real prevail, they'll next meet:
    -Barcelona (h)
    -Shakhtar Donetsk (a)

    no easy run.

    If Sevilla win, they'll meet:
-Real Sociedad (a) [cue unwanted memory of David Moyes gormless stare]
    -Bor. Monchengladbach (a)

Real lost the Shield and suffered their first loss under Rafa Benitez as Sevilla came from behind to win through goals to Immobile, Banega and Llorente.

The Basques are enjoying life without David Moyes as they claimed a somewhat fortuitous win over Sevilla through goals by Imanol Agirretxe and Xabi Prieto.

The previous time Sociedad held the Shield they relinquished it at the first time of asking. Lucky for them then that this time their first challenge is only away at Barcelona, who will doubtless be welcoming Messi back into their starting team.

No luck for the first-ever Chinese challengers (the wrong end of a Suarez hat-trick) , or for Deportivo

For only the second time ever South America has the opportunity to take the Shield back to it's shores.
River Plate, storied Argentine and Copa Libertadores champions have the opportunity to be the first non-European winners, so soon after their return from the second flight in Argentina.

Barca hardly look beatable to anyone outside Europe's big 3, but who knows.

If Barca win they'll next meet Betis, whereas if River can do it they immediately face Independiente followed by Boca.
    Come on Red and white...

I see Saviola's name on the squad list, anyone know much about their current team?
I'll tell you more about them if they can win

Used to follow this, a good idea.

Can't see the shield coming from Spain any time soon.
