liverpool today confirmed that gerrard will miss next 2 league games as he overgoes a surgery on his shoulder, should be back for start of pre-season so nothing serious fingers crossed.

fully expect shelvey to replace gerrard but wouldn't be surprised to see perhaps coady involved?, hope suso comes in for downing just because really want to see him back in 1st team action

I see our possession at about 40% with this team

Put Henderson deeper in Gerrards position, put Coutinho in a central number 10 role and have Downing and either Borini or one of the young lads playing wide of Sturridge.

What pubs or bars are the fans going to for the game next Sunday? We will miss you Stevie G - wishing you a speedy recovery.

But they're even worse than us!

Now look, you were so quick to jump down my throat you didn't even bother taking in what was being said. Borini's supposed attributes (and we haven't seen many so far) are movement, finishing, pressing. Keeping possession does not feature! I'm not saying we won't win with that team - I'm saying that we won't hold onto the ball!

don't understand why it's the striker's priority to keep possession? the striker is meant to lash onto the service supplied by the players behind him so that he can finish..... you always have 2 types of strikers.... 1 that holds up play well and brings in other players ( your strellers, crouch, carroll ) then you have the strikers who run in behind ( your tevez, hernandez and borini)

This...Altho I'd like to see Skrtel play...if he is staying.
Carras had his swansong in the derby...time to think of the future...Jamie can have the last 20 mins v QPR.
If Skrtel is getting moved on...stick with Carra.

    Are you guessing?

    We had 54% at Newcastle
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22228835

    We had 50% at Wigan
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21556751

I'm simply saying that the team shown there doesn't look like a team that's likely to hold onto the ball

Yep, won't argue with that - hence my statement saying that with Borini playing, we are less likely to hold onto the ball

Suso should get a run out centrally.

Surely he can manage 2 games.

Obviously he isnt bothered about playing every league game for the first time in his career.

I would have thought he is more bothered about playing in his testimonial and getting hundreds of thousands of pounds for his charity and then making sure he is back for next season than a couple of dead rubber games and a meaningless stat.

Sooner its done, the sooner he will be ready for pre-season.
He missed most of pre-season last summer...and he was off the pace for the first couple of months.
He wasn't alone...but we cannot afford another ***** start.

I just hope Falcao, Hummels and Bale settle into our squad quickly then

He won't, but why not give him a go. Assaidi can't play there he's a winger.

I'd like to see this, although I hope Downing is left on the bench.

idk perhaps BR doesn't see him as first team material and i'd imagine the formation would be altered slightly, assaidi can play on left or behind striker in that very role

Agger, Gerrard, Kelly and Allen are the only injuries. Think it's a good opportunity to keep Carragher fresh for (his last) game against QPR and give Coates and Skrtel some game time.

Skrtel straight replacement for Agger. Downing out for Suso would work with a formation change as follows:

    REINA

    JOHNSON SKRTEL CARRA ENRIQUE

    LUCAS

    SHELVEY HENDERSON

    SUSO

    COUTINHO

    STURRIDGE
Nothing is impossible whilst it's still possible..........
