Good to see you are all still hanging in there, I am all over the place at the minute, I managed to get through the Christmas period despite hating every minute of it,
I spent all the time apart from a couple of Christmas meals in bed, I am really struggling at the moment, just cant bring myself to do anything.
I got some new meds off the dr the day after boxing day, seroquel, but I cant seem to get through the first week or so and now I cant even get myself an appointment as they are so busy.
Hopefully I will stand a better chance of getting an appointment next week when the kids are back at school.

Hey mate, sorry to read this; Iíve been in the position of not getting out of bed and itís horrific so I know something of where you are at - this was the first Christmas in 3 years I managed to make it, the other 2 stress and depression put me in bed for days.

Iím not familiar with that med you are on am guessing itís pretty strong, may I ask is it depression you are suffering with ?

If you can get out of bed, maybe try and keep busy, easy stuff, tidy cupboards or try a walk and repeat, it is so difficult the fatigue mate bit thatís what my gp said, donít sleep get moving.

Hey man, cheers for replying, the further we get away from christmas the better I have been feeling.

Its mainly anxiety and massive mood swings I am experiencing at the moment, up down up down, I do get depressed when im down and I am really having problems with my concentration too.

I have seen a few doctors but its almost impossible for me to see the same one a few times on the trot, just getting an appointment is such a task, its hard for me to actually find out what the problem is when you speak to someone different each time, so far almost everything has been suggested from bipolar to being somewhere on the spectrum. I also got the impression that some of the newer doctors at the practice thought I was making things up, which kind of upset me a bit and made me want to stay away even more.
I was referred to a psychologist a couple of times but I never heard anything back.

Thankfully on friday my old regular Dr came out to check up on my grandad, ( who I live with and care for ) I managed to tell her how I am feeling and she put me in touch with a mental heath place where I can see a psychologist, the same one, on a regular basis.
For a long time the idea of going to a mental health clinic really worried me, I didn't want to be associated with such place but im getting on now, Im over 40, I have nothing to fear, I just want to find out what is wrong and get it sorted so I can enjoy the rest of my life.

I will have to wait a while for the appointment no doubt but this new medication is supposed to stabilize my moods and it seems to be working so far, fingers crossed

Good to see your post mate,

Is there something about Christmas that perhaps underpins it ? Of course you donít need to answer I was just curious as I tend to hibernate in the winter as my mood drops generally.

Everything you wrote I undestood and associated with fully.

I had the benefit of connecting with an understanding doctor, must have seen her about 9 times in two weeks, i also saw a good mental health specialist who got to the root of most of it in the end, the worst is feeling crap and not knowing why or how you tick.

I shouldnít worry so much about being associated with mental health, think of it like this if you broke you arm would you shy away from A&E ? Course not and itís equally as important to look after your mental health as physical - one in four will touch mental health illness in their lifetime ranging from mild to severe so mate please donít think youíre a freak or not normal etc; itís perfectly ok to acknowledge you have an issue and then address it.

I think youíre expectionally brave opening up already and posting what you posted, take care of yourself and I hope you make some progress on your journey; remember you are unique, have worth and are loved and supported mate, loads of posters in here will get you and you can always offload any crap anytime

    Best wishes
    Ayles
